Chapter 195- Unexpected Meeting(2)
Things grew awkward the moment Naoko stepped into the room.
Koori knew he used to work part-time at different places, but out of all the cafés and restaurants in the world, did he really have to be working here?
Kasumi raised a brow. “Your ex?” Her calm tone pulled Koori out of her daze.
Koori turned toward the brunette but quickly lowered her head.
Kasumi then looked at the blue-haired boy. “You know her, right? Why not come join us?” she asked, a small smirk tugging at her lips. This was the perfect chance to corner him, she thought.
But Naoko gave a polite bow. “I’m still working, so thank you for the offer, customer.”
Kasumi’s smile faltered for just a moment before she turned back to the girl across from her. “Are you okay?”
Koori had been quiet, her head still lowered. At the question from her lover, she slowly nodded.
Naoko could see it—their closeness clearly told him what relationship the two have, and just how uncomfortable his presence was making his ex.
With another bow, he said, “I’ll send someone else—”
“No, it’s fine.” Koori cut him off, shaking her head. “Please take our order.”
Kasumi’s brow arched again, pride flickering in her chest at how smoothly she had handled things.
Naoko nodded and stepped forward, holding out the tablet for them to choose from.
Kasumi ordered a cappuccino and a croissant since she wasn’t that hungry. Then she nudged Koori. “I know you didn’t eat lunch today. Get a meal.”
Koori’s cheeks warmed, both from embarrassment and from the little gesture that showed how much Kasumi cared. She tapped in rice noodles and barley tea.
She was about to hand the tablet back when Kasumi suddenly took it from her, frowning at how little she ordered. Without hesitation, she added a few more items herself.
“Here.” Smiling, Kasumi handed the terminal back to the waiter. “Thank you.”
Naoko gave a short bow before leaving the room.
Once he was gone, Kasumi slowly lifted her gaze to the girl across from her. “Are you… not feeling well?”
“Ah, no! I’m perfectly fine… I just didn’t expect to see him here.”
Kasumi tilted her head. “Well, he is good looking. People often hire servers for their looks.”
Koori gave a small, wry smile. “He’s quite popular at school too.”
Kasumi hummed thoughtfully. “Do you think he still has feelings for you?”
Koori shook her head. “Didn’t I tell you? He never liked me. I only accepted that recently, and we broke up without any arguments.”
Leaning back in her seat, Kasumi pressed further. “What about you? Did you feel anything seeing him? I know you used to like him.”
Koori’s chest tightened. Somehow, it felt like Kasumi was testing her… and she had every reason to. Koori had acted strangely just now.
She didn’t want to disappoint her. She thought hard, searching for the right words—but in the end, she chose honesty.
“It stung a little,” she admitted. “We were together for so long… so yes, I felt something. But not in the way I thought I would.” Lowering her head, she added, “Unlike before, I didn’t feel like running to him or clinging to him just to steal more time. What I felt was… regret. Regret that I held on so tightly when he was never really looking at me.”
Kasumi’s eyes narrowed slightly, her hair falling forward to shadow them. “So… he still affects you, huh…”
Koori blinked, tilting her head. “Kasumi-san… ah—”
Before she could finish, Kasumi suddenly pulled her close.
Koori didn’t resist. She sank into the warmth of Kasumi’s arms, letting the rosette’s embrace steady her.
Koori could feel her hot breath hitting her neck, her long strong arms possessively holding her.
Koori felt her heart might just leap out any time now.
Kasumi faintly whispered, “I feel jealous…seeing how he still is in your heart and not just me.”
She cupped her cheek before adding, “I thought Koori is mine alone."
“I am." Koori shuddered, but didn't stop from confessing, “I belong to you only.”
"Is that so? Then you don't mind sitting just here even when he brings the food?”
Koori didn't think twice before making herself comfortable in her embrace, not intending to let go.
"I will prove that Kasumi-san is the only one for me.”
