Chapter 86: Heart to heart
Simon awoke to a very pleasant sensation.
Namely, he was laying down on the lap of Miss Flora who had been slowly stroking his hair.
He was looking at her beautiful green face that looked extra beautiful and vibrant. Her hair had a mess of blooming flowers that gave acted as a gorgeous natural gown.
Seeing that he had woken up, the stunning woman asked with a very gentle voice and quiet smile.
"How are you?"
He sighed as he answered.
"So much better..."
His second encounter with Miss Flora was a lot different than his first but was just as memorable. Though a part of him had desperately hoped for the former.
He had never felt so soothed after a feeding session. All the worry and tension in his bones had left him and his problems felt far away.
(Simon was still slightly inebriated from the spore effect but this being the first time he had no idea)
He blinked up at Miss Flora and smiled.
"You are so pretty."
To that, he heard a beatific giggle which made his smile widen further.
"Let me heal you. While this is cute, I need to have a genuine talk with you."
With that, he felt her soft green hands on his forehead followed by a soothing warmth that washed over his body. It almost made him fall asleep once more.
But after a couple of minutes, his mind cleared as the haze of her power dissipated from his mind.
The first thing out of his mouth, as he gained his sense of self back, was.
"I bonded you didn't I?"
"Yes. Yes, you have. Do you regret that choice?"
Simon sighed as he thought about his answer. With his mind firmly back in place, his worries were as well. But they were still muted because of how good her stroking felt despite his return to form.
In the end, he said.
"No... I don't. You are the second monster girl my instincts directed me to. And everyone it did seems to create a miracle bond. A part of me already suspected and you are the proof."
This was something that had been working at the back of his mind and his new bond all but confirmed his suspicions. He had some sort of sixth sense for detecting when a miracle bond would occur.
She answered him in between his ruminations.
"Hmm... I see... There is a lot I want to unpack from that statement but I will not get into it right now. Instead, let's turn to something that really matters."
Simon let out another sigh as he said.
"I have to keep things quiet don't I?"
This caused Miss Flora to give out a pained expression.
"Yes. But don't worry you have a powerful old tree that is going to help you. You will get through this without much fuss."
Simon gave out a mirthless laugh at her answer.
"We are barely at the end of the third day and I already have three powerful bonded monster girls, my family left me with no rhyme or reason, I just learned that monster girls are treated like absolute garbage and to top it all off I have powers that don't make a bit of sense! I half expect to become a god by the end of the month."
There it was... His frustrations... Life was happening so rapidly that he had barely a bit of time to be himself, being forced to adapt to something drastically new every moment and it was grating on his sanity.
Simon felt something soft but firm to engulf his entire chest.
He lifted his head to look down and saw that his entire torso was engulfed in green vines. He asked, confused.
"What's going on?"
Flora grinned.
"One of the universal perks of being bonded to a plant girl is [natural armor], a protective casing that should save you in a pinch."
Simon was more confused now.
"...I don't get it..."
Flora asked.
"Oh! And what it is you don't get?"
His reply was swift and a tad bit manic.
"How is this in any way related to my problems."
Flora did not answer and instead asked.
"How are you going to solve all of it?"
He muttered.
"What?"
She asked again.
"How are you going to solve all of it?"
Simon finally answered.
"I... I don't know..."
Flora's smile was very warm... somehow it reminded Simon of his soft mom with a hint of his dad.
"And that's okay, you have been given a lot of information with very little time to process any of it on top of all the extra headaches. How about we do this? For the next week, you run to class and run straight home. No extra interactions whatsoever. If you don't think it is enough we will extend it by another week. In the meantime, I will deal with everything else. We will keep the status quo as much as we can. If anything happens you come straight to me. Alright?"
Simon thought for a good long minute but in the end, he nodded his head following which the strength in his body left him.
Flora might not look it but she was just as if not more worried than Samuel about their precarious predicament.
Flora could not deal with Planar University all by herself but thankfully she did not need to. In fact, this action had two reasons if Simon agreed. First, Simon looked like he was getting overloaded and needed to destress. Second, it would give Flora time to look into this voice and gauge its power to a more accurate degree.
A big reason as to why he was not telling Simon all about the mysterious voice was because frankly, she was scared of what the entity was capable of. She was old and she had never heard of anyone or anything being capable of creating artificial miracle bonds.
If it was not as big a power as she was fearing, Flora would tell Simon and they could come up with a plan together to deal with it. She was apparently a tier 7 mythic monster and if it did take her decades to return to her original power, once she did there was little in the continent that would be a threat to her Tamer.
But on the chance it was such a being as she thought it was, the best they could hope for was weather whatever game it had in store.
