Chapter 87: A steady month
It had been close to a month since that fateful day and thankfully, he did not become a god by the end of it. Instead, he found to be set on a very guided path, one that his newest bond had set him on.
And it had done very well for him.
He was acting as what people called a 'home body'. Which apparently meant people who like to spend their time indoors. And it was doing very well for him.
Even the special advisor was on board with it especially when Flora's name was mentioned. Though the real reason was more sinister than the fact that his hidden bonded was very capable.
But as it was he was okay with the weekly meetings with the man that the special advisor had asked for, though he had become a tad more guarded with the man.
In the scene of friends, he was trying to keep his distance from the other blessed. Flora told him that he needed to establish himself before he started interacting with said group.
And he did just that avoiding the blessed and people in general. The few times he had tried it had always devolved into 'blessed' which he was not meshing well with.
The only exception to the rule was Daniel and maybe Daiki but he saw very little of the latter so it was just hanging with Daniel now and then.
Daniel surprisingly respected his boundaries and when he had clammed at the mention of blessed, his friend never brought it up again.
And while he liked Daniel he enjoyed being indoors sitting in a spot a lot more. It was spacious enough that Amy and Stella could play freely without restricting them a lot.
Speaking of Amy and Stella, they got better over time but had yet to return to completely normal. They were still very clingy and stayed in gear form at all times when they were out. But at home, they were much more free.
Simon was slowly trying to get them reacclimated back to their original selves but according to Flora, it would still be a while yet. Monster girls simply did not know how to deal with existentialism and sadly beast monster girls were on the lower intellectual spectrum so it was hard for them to act using reason. They were far more emotionally driven and the human fear of death was far above anything they ever dealt with.
On a more positive note, he was getting more used to the local lingo, in no small part due to Flora's hours-long nightly teaching sessions. Everything was still very new but people did not stop and explain to him little terms every few minutes.
Though, much of what he learned made him less and less enamored with Planar University. Monster girls were treated worse here than the cattle his Dad raised on their farms. And they were perfectly fine with it.
They did not care that they and their fellow monster girls were being milked for all they were worth and more often than not, spat back out with nothing to show for it.
When he had argued that this was not the way to do things, the answer he got back made his heart hurt.
"What else are they supposed to do?"
Monster girls could exist in the vilest of conditions, all they needed was human essence and they were happy.
The problem there was only one man for every 100 monster girls so it was simply not feasible to accommodate so many.
It was not like humans were not trying to help. The whole 'artificial essence' thing was originally made by kind people to help monster girls. But to expect the human race to bend over backward for monster girls was putting the cart before the horse.
Humans were necessary for monster girls to exist, monster girls were not necessary for the progress or existence of humanity. The Purist Nation, a small nation where monster girls were illegal, was proof of that. And there were very few humans to go around.
What Planar University was doing was just being economical and was a very common practice. An unruly monster girl could mean the death of a tamer and by raw numbers, a Tamer is worth at the bare minimum worth a hundred monster girls. Was it fair to expect people to leave it to chance when the values were so skewed?
The answer was a resounding no. They were going to do whatever it took to make the human experience as painless as possible, the thoughts of the monster girl be damned. If she did not like it she was allowed to leave, there were always 99 other monster girls more than willing to take her place.
Simon had been learning to be more okay and tolerant with that fact, though he would never be completely on board with it.
At least... This made monster girls like his psychology teacher possible. He knew that was a very twisted way to look at things. But succubi were the worst things on Phunine and the worst event ever could be traced back to them.
This was the single reason he could not completely dismiss the practices and(against every fiber of his being) saw their merit.
"Lost in thought?"
He blinked looking down at his newest bond who was fancying herself a bit of a snack.
Flora was looking up at him, while slowly licking his dick like a lollipop.
"Yeah..."
She grinned.
"Was it related to your 'sexy psychology teacher' again?"
"..."
Simon could not answer without blushing. He did not know why but he felt weirdly drawn and attracted to the 'proper' succubus but at the same time he felt hesitant to approach the teacher. It was not helped by the fact that the monster girl maintained this wall around him that he could seem to penetrate.
"You should get it over with. You are a third of the way done with the introductory dungeon delving courses. And our team still does not have crowd control. It could be good."
Simon let out a raspberry as he pushed his head back into the sofa. Maybe he would once he was on more stable ground.
