Chapter 85: An ominous warning
The sensations of bonding hit her the moment she heard the voice and it nearly made her lose all sense of self. It was a feeling of fulfillment and joy she could not even begin to describe. There was simply nothing else close enough to being able to draw an analogy. No wonder monster girls became so invested in their Tamers and why every monster girl(including herself) was rabid for them, she was willing to bend herself and the world if it made her precious bonded happy. If he never showed any affection to her ever again, that was fine, the love she was experiencing right now could carry her for eternity.
Oh how much she wanted to stay lost in this heavenly world...
But, in the end, she still managed to control herself. The entity kept its end of the bargain and now it wanted a dialogue to which she was only happy to comply.
If the being was able to create miracle bonds on the fly all she could do was comply for now, till Simon(her Simon!) was strong enough to break free. Flora would make sure that happened.
Her tone was still honestly very genial and thankful as she said.
"I must thank you. A bond... is not something I ever expected to get. At most, I expected to be turned into a slave for one of those... heroes."
She could feel a giggle through the mental link as the voice answered.
"Don't mention it! I am glad you are happy with our little arrangement! Speaking of which. We have a bit of a situation..."
The voice's bubbly nature diminished heavily in the latter half of her statement and this made Flora rather curious. After all, her Tamer(Flora was past the moon and beyond at the thought that she had a Tamer) would need every bit of information she could get.
She asked.
"Oh! And what might that be?"
The voice sounded a bit manic as it asked.
"You are a mythic monster! Why in the world did you not tell me!?!"
Flora rapidly blinked unable to hide the loud shock in her voice.
"I am?!?! Wait! What?!? How!?!"
She got an equally loud response.
"How am I supposed to know?!"
This greatly annoyed Flora. Up to this point, there was a sense of omniscience from the voice, with this single sentence the voice had completely destroyed that.
She exclaimed as much.
"Because I thought you were a greater entity! They are supposed to know things!"
The moment she did, however, she felt the meaning of her life stir in her embrace. Not wanting him to be part of this messy exchange she immediately enhance her sleeping spores that saturated this tight space to lull him back to slumber. At the same time, she infused her voice with magic to create an extra soothing effect.
"Shh... It's alright... go to sleep... Everything is okay..."
The voice decided to give her a piece of its mind as she worked her magic.
"Oops! Forgot that our little boy was still sleeping. Anyway, Long story short, I can't give him any more miracle bonds... And it is all your fault! You stupid mythic monster!"
She asked in the same magically infused tone. Using the calm focusing on the magic brought about to keep her mind on what was important.
"How is it my fault?"
The voice was quick to answer.
"You damaged the divine seal when it tried to latch on to you, destroying its ability to create miracle bonds and some other things. The effects that matter are thankfully still in place."
Now that her mind was, for the moment, completely stable. And her years of experience kicked in. She started to rapidly process the information provided to her.
This entity thought it could control her through the same magic that controlled her dear Tamer. Her apparent mythic status(Something she needed to check up on) prevented this and caused an unintended domino effect. The creature was trying to get Flora to still stay under thrall so that whatever plan it was cooking followed course.
She would not comply but she could probe for more information.
"I see. You are being a lot more frank now than last time. I suppose there is a reason?"
The voice sounded very condescending though in a very oblivious manner as it said.
"Duh! Well, Since you kind of fucked up my ability to influence this over-engineered demi-plane I need your help in a few things."
Flora did not agree to anything and neutrally proceeded.
"Name them and we shall see from there."
She got a mental image of a nodding head as the voice answered.
"Sure! First, re-power the tree at the center of the greenhouse. It is kind of annoying to supply magical energy to it when I am not a dryad. Horribly inefficient."
Why would she want that? Now that her core was being housed inside a Tamer the tree became unnecessary.
But the moment she thought that, something clicked in her mind and she asked a question to check if her hunch was true. Her tone was still in that magically musical state.
"Do you plan on keeping my bond with Simon a secret? If so, just how? The psychic capability in this place is impossible to manipulate and influence."
The voice sent her raspberry as it answered in a naively proud manner.
"For you maybe. I have been managing it quite fine thank you very much!"
*Gulp*
And the feeling of facing something with an overwhelming power was back.
Flora believed this. She believed it so well that she could not help the audible sound that came out of her mouth. Because there was no other way she could explain why Planar University had yet to figure out that Simon was ascended. It was a fact she had been subconsciously denying from the beginning because of how terrifying it was to think about.
The sheer magical power that goes into maintaining the psychic web of the school would have humbled Flora at her peak. The only reason she was not found out was because of a technicality. She actually got caught, it was simply that, at the time, Planar University did not have any data on World Trees which made them assign her an epic monster instead of Legendary. Her data was on the system and it made the university complacent.
It was completely different from the blessed and how often they are scanned and scrutinized. To disregard that...
She could not even finish the thought as the voice continued.
"Ooh! Scared you, huh? Don't worry, I am very good at mental magic... well magic in general and so this is second nature to me! Anyway, What I want to tell you is that don't mention your bond with Simon to anyone till at least a year passes, and make sure to make everyone believe it's a normal bond, I will deal with all the psychic intrusions. Also also! Please keep in mind the deal we made! I can't really influence you which sucks! But Simon is still under my control! But I don't wanna manipulate your precious Tamer anymore than I have to! I already do it too much! Is that everything? I think that is everything for now! Okay! I have to go, hubby is calling! Talk to you later and remember my words!"
*Gulp*
That was all Flora could do as an answer.
