DxD 0060: The Mark of Ophis
Abaddon allowed Riser to power himself up with an excited smile on his face. Ever since he’d gotten the Boosted Gear a few weeks ago, he’d been itching for a fight where he could have fun.
“Don’t disappoint me, Phenex. I haven’t fought anyone who can take my punches ever since I got this…” Abaddon’s smile was radiating his excitement.
«BOOST»
By the time Riser was done preparing, Abaddon had already bosted himself again for the 14th time.
“Go fuck yourself, Abaddon Bael!” Riser’s entire body lit up in flames as he charged at Abaddon like a flaming meteor.
“Come at me, chicken…” Abaddon whispered as his true Armor of Destruction appeared around his body. It was still relatively incomplete, but outwardly its appearance seemed to have been completed, making Abaddon look as imposing as ever.
He took Riser’s charge head-on as both his hands extended in front of him and grabbed the meteor that was Riser by the shoulders. The flames, as intense as they were— far more than previously— weren’t enough against his condensed destruction energy that had turned into a real construct.
As he grabbed Riser’s shoulders, the tangible flames that were surrounding the guy started being destroyed as even his shoulders weren’t surviving the onslaught of Abaddon’s destruction energy.
Riser, uncaring about his consumption flared his flames even more as he let Abaddon destroy his shoulders. That allowed Riser to get closer to Abaddon and headbutt him with his flaming head.
For once, Abaddon felt the attack as Riser cut off the parts of his body that were grabbed by Abaddon and freed himself.
“You’re determined…” Abaddon smiled amusedly as he held Riser’s arms up. Seeing the guy having already regenerated from the damages, Abaddon decided to get a little proactive and released controlled whips of crimson that attacked Riser who didn’t seem to notice them as he was chanting something.
Those whips constantly cut through Riser’s body but he just regenerated instantly with a flaming aftereffect making them completely ineffective. Soon, he was done with his chant at the same time as Abaddon boosted himself again for the 15th time.
«BOOST»
‘Yoo, Draig this is not a 32k times boost in any sense of the number…’ Abaddon thought as he felt the enhancement. He was expecting that all of his aspects would have been crazily buffed with this, but it was far from that. He was enhanced, sure, but it felt more like a 100 times enhancement overall. It was enough for him to practically steamroll most opponents, but something was off.
‹There are a lot of aspects to my enhancement ability. Think of it as a tank of ‘enhancement’ that doubles every 10 seconds. Now, that tank has to be distributed throughout your body. That is why if you focus on a certain aspect, you’ll notice that the enhancement is far better. Then again, there are a lot more factors to the Boosted Gear like its connection to your soul and more. Since you ripped it out of the real inheritor, the connection is still weak and needs time to flourish. Plus you don’t have the true boost ability, I didn’t have any such limitations.›
‘Makes sense…’ Abaddon nodded and heard Riser say, “Take this… Supernova!”
As Abaddon turned back to the guy, he saw a massive ball of flame having formed above Riser’s head that was radiating an unholy amount of heat. It was hot enough that calling it supernova wasn’t too farfetched.
‘This is the good stuff…’ Abaddon was excited as the whips that were ineffectively attacking Riser stopped and floated behind Abaddon and started pulsating with more Destruction energy. They started getting larger and thicker as from thin whips, they turned into huge chains.
“Go!” Riser screamed and the huge ball of flame instantly shrank to almost a quarter of its size before it was launched in Abaddon’s direction.
The Destruction chains that were floating behind Abaddon all charged at the ball of fire and wrapped around it, slowing it down, “Hm?” Abaddon was surprised that the flame was able to last against even his concentrated Destruction energy. Riser had infused it with so much energy that the supernova was able to hold itself for a few seconds.
However, in the end, it was far from enough as by the time the concentrated supernova reached halfway, it was wiped out of existence.
“Not bad, I must say…” Abaddon commented casually before looking at Riser again and raising his eyebrows. Riser had already cast multiple similar attacks that were hovering around him, “Well, this might singe a little….” The slight smile never left Abaddon’s face as the attacks approached Abaddon.
“This is the power of infinite energy, Bael. I can cast the same attacks as many times as I want without getting tired.” Riser laughed pridefully.
“Sure little chicken,” Abaddon replied before he made a move. The ends of his destruction chains morphed and turned into spikes that could penetrate through the spheres of fire as Abaddon controlled the chains to penetrate through the Riser’s attacks.
Unlike last time when the flames were destroyed out of existence, this time, only the core of the attacks was destroyed, causing the compressed flames to destabilize and burst in a huge explosion that enveloped both Abaddon and Riser.
“Abaddon, NO!” Rias screamed as she quickly tried to use her power to help Abaddon, but she was too weak to do anything, considering that even moving around was proving difficult for her.
“No need to get your panties in a twist, girl… I’m just having fun.” Rias’ eyes widened as she heard Abaddon’s nonchalant voice she whipped her head up only to see Abaddon completely unharmed as the flames died down.
‘Yo Draig, you wanna do balance breaker?’ Abaddon asked. He wanted to try it out even though there was zero need for it.
‹Why?›
‘What’s the worst that can happen? Some dragon power fills up my arm. I can get some sweet-sucking action from the girls using the excuse of my hand having been contaminated by Dragon energy. It’ll be dope.’ He laughed.
‹Your priorities are messed up…›
Even Draig was done with his shit and quieted down. Instead, Abaddon felt some foreign energy empowering his body. He felt his left arm burning up as it was used as a conduit to activate the Balance Breaker. Soon, the Boosted Gear sounded out.
«Balance Breaker— Scale Mail»
With that, the crimson gauntlet started extending up Abaddon’s body and started melding with his Destruction armor. Seemingly forming a kind of double armor wherever his armor of destruction was present. When the armor was finally completed, it gave a detached sense of incompletion where the inner layer was completed, but the outer layer was still being worked on.
‘Let’s fix this…’ Abaddon didn’t like the aesthetic of the double armor over his body and decided to meld his destruction armor into the Balance Breaker of the Boosted Gear.
‘If it’s gone then it’s gone…’ He wouldn’t mind if his action caused the Balance Breaker armor to be destroyed. This whole thing was an experiment that he was trying out nonetheless.
‹Hm… Instead of being canceled out, the Boosted Gear is reacting to your energy and actively working to adapt itself.›
Draig hummed as he observed how the sacred gear rapidly adapted to the power of Destruction that was condensed as Abaddon’s armor.
“Hellfire!”
As Abaddon was having fun with his new toy— ‹It’s not a toy, you fuck. I am the Welsh Dragon who snatched the Principle of Domination from God himself!›
Abaddon promptly ignored Draig’s dissatisfied grumble and looked at Riser who was bathing in a different intensity of flames while the silhouette of a Phoenix formed around him.
“Dude. Have you ever tried to actually heat up your fire? Like getting it to white or even blue? Get some imagination, you have infinite energy and all you can do is spam basic attacks. Get some creativity.” Abaddon chided Riser as he let the flaming bird collide with him. Having already melded his power of Destruction into the Balance Breaker, Abaddon wanted to see its effects.
As Riser’s Hellfire collided with Abaddon’s armor, to say he wasn’t disappointed would be an understatement. The Balance Breaker armor had already doubled the efficiency of the Power of Destruction as it melded with Abaddon’s own armor.
“Let’s finish this, shall we… I have my cousin to take care of after this…” Abaddon decided as he clamped his armored hand over Riser’s neck and poured his power of destruction into Riser’s body in a controlled manner. He destroyed specific areas of his body that would be unbearably painful so that Riser would be forced to give up.
After almost 10 minutes of pure torture and screams as Riser thrashed around to free himself, he finally seemed to give up and slumped his shoulders in defeat, “I… Give… Up…”
“See, was that so difficult?” Abaddon smiled as he let go of Riser and stepped back. Just in time for the entire party to arrive.
“Let go of my son!” A torrent of uncontrolled flames was blasted toward Abaddon.
