Chapter 64 New party member and drunken mishap

Sophia’s Point of View

I didn’t know what was going to happen to me. For as long as I’ve been an adult, and even a few years of my childhood, I’ve loved to gamble. There was just one question I had to ask. “I don’t need to have sex with him, right?” They looked at me, confused, as the farmer spoke. “No, I’d never force anyone to do anything they didn’t want to do. We need a tank and had to find a way to stop your self-destructive behavior so…”

I had to ask to be sure. “If I have sex with you… Will the time on the contract go down?” Tems asked out of curiosity. “Like a prostitute?” Before anyone could respond to her, Danny cut her off. “No.” I was slightly taken aback by how fast he responded. “No interest in me then?” Once again, he replied almost instantly as he said what he actually felt.

“Oh no, you’re very attractive. If things work out with you, I’d love it. But I’ve got five wives and a complicated relationship with Leaf on top of all that. I’m content with what I have. If you want to have sex, that’s fine, but I’m not going to go crazy or chase after you if you don’t.” I frowned as I asked. “So… What’s the point in all this then? I thought you wanted me and did all this to get me.”

He responded. “We wanted to save you from yourself. Look at you, your armor is disheveled and on the verge of failing, the same goes for your rusty weapon, and you’re body is going to fail if you keep at it. You earned ten gold, which should have been enough for you to live off for months, and it’s gone in a single day… You were going to get yourself killed chasing your addiction. We just wanted to stop that.”

He spoke as if it wasn’t his decision, as my thought process changed. I thought for sure he’d be some horn dog who only wanted me for my body, but I was wrong. For some reason, I couldn’t help but start crying. After becoming an indentured servant, my life immediately improved for the better. The first was the food; I could eat my fill every day, and because of that, I quickly regained my fighting figure.

The next was the group I ran with, very rarely did the farmer come, but even with just his wives, we could easily clear the dungeon and had even started adventuring passed the beginner dungeon and into the next one beyond it. The second was my equipment, as someone meant to take attacks, which would have been difficult to do with my armor that was on the verge of failure.

Not only did they purchase me a set better than the starter heirloom equipment I had, but they also bought me upgradable weapons and upgraded them to the copper tier. The change was immediate, as I could now kill a goblin in a single swing. My offensive power wasn’t very high, so the difference between cleanly killing the enemy over needing at least two attacks was an immediate boost in the experience I could gain.

The last change was my housing. I was given a room in the farm, which meant I didn’t need to rent a room at the inn. Most adventurers did because the room came with meals, which we would never be able to prepare if we didn’t live at the inn. It meant that while I was an indentured servant for two hundred years' worth of value, I was now making more money in the group than I ever had by myself.

That was another oddity. This group was just far more lucky than it had any right to be. We found more and made more money in a single trip than my previous group could find/earn in an entire week. No matter how hard I asked, they wouldn’t tell me.

Only after pestering them for weeks did Silk finally say. “Have sex with our husband, then you’ll figure it out.” “What’s that supposed to mean?” “You’re not supposed to tell anyone, you idiot!” “Sorry, I’m just sick of her asking over and over again.” “Well, it’s not like we haven’t seen the writing on the wall; she’s all but taken the final step already.”

The group all talked over each other, which was a common occurrence as I thought of what it could mean. I had been slowly falling for the farm boy. I had thought I had hidden it well, but apparently the only one who hadn’t noticed was the farm boy. My face went red at the implication that the only way to find out why we were so lucky was to sleep with their husband.

It still didn’t make sense to me. I’ve heard of harems, I’ve seen them before, hell, I’ve even thought of joining one if the benefits were good enough, but my first thought was that I would end up in a monogamous relationship with a single man. To be fair, my life hadn’t turned out anything like I thought it would. I thought by now that I’d already be famous and renowned across the country, so powerful that groups fought over me.

I laughed at my past naivety. It had me curious, though. We were all practically sisters already, was sharing a man really such a bad thing? I’d have to talk to them about making themselves scarce when we got back, so I could put the moves on him.

…

I did it! I made moonshine that didn’t taste like paint! I sipped at that almost flavorless moonshine and compared it to the apple pie flavored batch I made right after. My first thought wasn’t to drink it myself, it was to show the town drunk that I could produce something so good. I needed to go show Delilah.

Practically running through the town, I swapped both jugs into one hand and opened the door to her blacksmith business/home, and noticed she had a customer. I waited for him to leave, a large smile on my face as I handed her one of the jugs of moonshine. “Try this.” She rolled the jug onto her forearm as she took a long pull of the moonshine. Popping off and smacking her lips like she just tasted candy. “Oh, that’s good.”

Handing her the pure moonshine next, I let her drink it down, she took more than one mouthful as her eyes went wide. “Oh, fuck that’s good.” She looked around before speaking her mind. “Fuck it. I’m done for the day, let’s go drink.” We made our way to my farm… And that’s where my memories cut out. I woke up with my head hammering like I was assaulted, and for a brief moment, I panicked, thinking that’s what happened.

I quickly sat up as my head hammered hard enough for me to see stars for a moment. I looked around to get my bearings and noticed I was asleep in my bed. That was good. As I kept looking around, I noticed a dwarf shaped lump hidden underneath the blankets, only her orange hair poking out revealing that, indeed, Delilah was sleeping in the same bed as me… And I was naked.

I peel off the blanket, just enough to see that, yes… She’s naked as well. Well, fuck. What did we do last night?
