Chap 76: last wave 3
"Now, i'll help you in getting rid of this damnable woman. But we do it, together. Understand ?" She said in a serious tone and undeniable gaze staring her down.
Regaining her focus, Polnale let out a long breath, she stopped pondering irrelevant thoughts and redirected her attention to himself.
"Takichi, get her out of here."
Takichi nods before picking the injured Avadol up, as for the captured old man. Takichi can still operate his yellow temperance no matter the distance bewteen them, so he can leave without worrying about him escaping. Jojo was worried more about the fact that Takichi wouldn't have a stand to protect himself, so she reminded him to return quickly and avoid combat.
Although Avadol was injured, the pressure on them was lessened by the fact that they were facing one enemy by now.
"Polnale, you see anything ?"
"Sorry, i wasn't able to see them made a move. My stand only detected a blur moving fast."
"Hmm." Standing with their back against the other person. The two girls have to rely on their minds to figure out how she can disappear.
"Star platinum, Star Finger!" Her stand extended her finger attack to a nearby ice block.
Destroying it in a single attack, she orders Star Plantium to do it again to the next one nearby.
"Oi, Jojo. What's is it, if you got a plan then tell me. Don't just attack at random, you're wasting your stamina."
"The enemy is using ice to move."
"What ?"
"Or more like, they're using reflective surfaces to move. That's how they can get a hit off Avadol." Understanding the enemy stand, the two work together and bash in every block of ice that is around them.
The small ice shards, unable to hold their shape due to the heat of the desert, begin to melt. It took them a few minutes to break all of the ice around.
All but one, the one where Avadol stood nearest to when she was attacked. Evident by the small splash of blood on the sand.
They took slow and deliberate steps to it; Polanle glanced sideways at her friend. She signals by a small hand gesture to flank them in case Hangman tries to run away.
With this thought in mind, Polnale moves to the opposite side of the ice block.
As she was about to take a step, a shadow filled her vision. It was Star Platinum in front of her, handballed into a punch.
"Hey-" On instinct, she covers herself using both hands.
*Thwud*
The punch didn't land on her but it hit something else. A cloaked woman clutched her arm, and her body was thrown on the sand.
"H-how ?" The French woman's expression was that of surprise. Unable to tell how it is that Hangman suddenly appears here.
"Your eyes, those things can reflect too."
"You knew ?"
"Yeah, pretty much. I just need to make her believe that we spent our time on the wrong goal. So that she thought, she had a chance if she takes us by surprise."
"How did you know I was hiding in your friend's eyes ?" The woman, seated on the coarse sand, shouted in anger.
"Simple, you didn't attack us when i broke the first ice block, had you were hidding in one of them. You would have more chance of winning the more blocks were around, which made it the less chance you win with every block that was removed. But you didn't, so that means you're hiding elsewhere."
Hearing each word that came out of Jojo's mouth. Hangman's brows furrowed tightly, and her lips curled in a fierce scowl, her eyes blazing with frustration as she glared into Jojo's face.
Without pause, the pointy tip of Silver Chariot found its way past her neck.
"I would like to waste more words with you, but the dead couldn't talk back anyway. You should worry about her more than me."
Gurling from the blood spewing out of the wounds on her neck, Hangman can't even focus on the woman who just attacked her.
Polnale bore her eyes down on her, eyes filled with murderous intent.
"Hey." She called out to her, "what is it that you said about my brother again ?" Her tone was calm on the outside, but inside of her core. There was a raging storm of furious vengeance
"Wa-*kuh*" Blood filled her throat as she tried to bargain for her life.
A sense of dread poured on her, there on the sand of a nowhere place.
She will die here.
This realization caused her to have fear, she feared the death that was coming for her. She feared the death that was brought to her by her own actions.
It came back to her in the form of a white knight, bringing down her wrathful blade of retribution.
-----------
He ran without rest, of course his destination wasn't the city or a popular area. But the next battle between Kakoyrin and the old Jostar, not because of any petty reason like looking for a reward.
Simply, he was not familiar with the direction.
And the nearest town was so far that they needed to take a car to go there. So, he made his way to where the remaining members of the team were.
Lending them a hand and then they could help take Avadol to the hospital. Across a mile of sand, he saw Kakoyrin and iggy the dog, struggling to fight off a stand made from water. Josane is standing behind with a badly bandaged arm conjured up by Purple Hermit.
'This situation is a little different than I know.'
Kakoyrin is fighting Geb, a stand that is essentially water-given form. It can change shape and be used at a long range.
Iggy control over the sands alow them to block any attack made by Geb, Kakoyrin is doing her best to help by using hierophant green as a divider so that Geb can't detect them.
'Right, this stand user can't see. So he or she can only attack anything that creates a vibration on the sands.' In order to defeat this stand they need to get close. But doing so without making any noise or vibrations is going to be a problem.
But then again, this is only a problem for a stand user. For him, for a man who is also a sorcerer, this is a mild setback.
