Chap 132: megumi 1

After that day, Takumi spent his time focusing on his job at the school. As he was the clan head, he was exempt from going with his students. Kusakabe and Mei Mei head off without him, but he can still contact them.

And so while he doesn't have to be at Tokyo dorms anymore, he can still do some work there. His position as a teacher allowed him access to some facilities they have, namely their library archive.

Hundreds of years' worth of recorded jujutsu knowledge. And since the place was low on staff, he had the whole building for himself. Half the days, he just wanders inside with books always in hand.

The other half is him staying at home. Mahoraga and Tojiko could do the chores just fine, but Megumi does get rowdy if he isn't with her for too long.

"Sometimes, I wonder where she got this clinginess from ?" Megumi cries lessen slightly as he holds her and carries her out of her crib.

"Da-da." Cries the almost intelligible baby, her tiny hands grabbing and tugging on his hair.

"Yes, i'm here baby. Ouch!"

Tojiko's hair still unkempt from being too busy, her eyes now returning to the slight droopy look, she lightly smiles as she looks at their active, yet quiet daughter looking between him and her mother. With a slight huff as she lifts herself from the couch and leaves to wash herself, leaving you alone with your quiet, curious child.

She didn't cry or babble as she used to, Takumi suspected it had to do with her curse technique awakening.

Even right when she is in his arms right now, her curse energy is leaking out unconsciously.

'She isn't even a year old yet.' This alone speaks volumes about how much potential she has for the future.

Little Megumi was soon on her way to not being so little anymore. Slowly, he introduced her to curse energy and curse spirits. His wife complained about the speed at which he is teaching, every time he has to reassure her that she was too young for all of that.

And true to her potential, she learn very fast. Curse energy control is the first thing he taught, next is a start to her curse technique.

"See, now. Keep your hands like this and-." *poof*

Two wolves summoned, rise slowly out of the puddle made from Megumi's shadow.

"Puppy?" The girl stared in awe at the twin wolves she just summoned.

"Yes, they are your puppies." He patted her head, he felt proud and happiness swelled inside his heart. Watching the little girl ride one of the wolves.

Within the next six to seven months. He taught her all about what he could on the family curse technique. Or what he learned anyway, the Zennin are a petty bunch when it came to their family tradition. Even so, he only shows her the basic control; half-summoning, using the Shikigami's properties, is a bit out of her league, so he teaches her later.

Takumi decided that she only needed to know about the other Shikigami before trying to tame them.

"Cool!" A gleam shone brightly in her eyes, seeing Takumi doing all the cool tricks with his own Shikigami.

"Do you want to learn more ?" Megumi's head nodded so fast in response, it leaves a blur behind.

"Teach me, teach me!"

"Okay, first, you'll need to train some more with your wolves." Before she can have more Shikigami, he wants her to have better control of the ones she currently has first.

"You know what this means right ?" Naobita asked, she stood next to him. They were training in one of the Zennin compounds, one that was far enough from the main branch.

"Yeah, an official introduction to the family." He said.

Takumi's mind was frazzled the more he thought about it. At first, he assumed it was just nervousness. His daughter is going to be okay and it's not like he is leaving her.

"Megumi, time to go home." He called her back.

"Okeee!" She said with glee, still on the back of her black wolf.

Seeing her smile was rare; he had no idea why. At home, she wasn't the type to outwardly show her emotions. Much like her own mother, Takumi has tried to inquire about it without being intrusive to her but the answer he got is either she's deflecting or his daughter is ignoring the question.

His daughter rides the wolf to his side, unsummons her Shikigami, and hops right onto him. She wasted no time in finding her spot on his shoulder.

"I thought you'd ride your wolf friend home?"

"Nope, I like to be carried by you more, daddy. You're much faster."

"That's so ? Faster than mom ?"

"Well... no," she mumbles out loud. "But you're more comfortable."

"Oh, so I am just a pet for you to sit on?" He teases.

Megumi let out a helpless squeal in dismay, "NOOO, that's not what I mean." Hitting his head with her three-year-old hands.

"Hahaha, okay, I'm sorry." Takumi only smiled as her punches barely registered to him, picking up more speed as he ran home.

Being a father, he simply can't help but always likes to toy with Megumi. She's a quiet girl at home and rarely talks, but with him, she's much more active. It's only when with him that she smiles and keeps a cheerful attitude.

"You want ice cream ?" On the way back, he caught her eye moving to one of the stores.

"No, we still have some at home." He let out a laugh, concepts like saving or math were something she had recently learned. He didn't think she would care so much at such a young age.

"Ahh, don't worry, we could always buy more."

"Mom will get angry."

"And? I could get angry too."

"Hahaha." She giggles in delight, "You're funny, Daddy."

"Why?"

"You don't get mad, you'll never do."

It was an interesting to hear, to hear how his children thought about him. It's not that he'll never get mad, it's more like he didn't let her see it, and more often than not, he has a subtle way of conveying it.

"So, what flavor do you like ?"

"Strawberry, but I don't want to buy ice cream."

"I hear you, I'm buying for me and your mom." Stopping by the ice cream shop, he picked up three tubs of three different flavors.

He could tell the regret and anxiety in Megumi's eyes as he picked up the first two tubs.

'Children are just children.' He kept a straight face, picking up a third one. Megumi's eyes lit up as he did so.

"Anything else ? My princess."

"Hmp! I told you I don't want any."

Tojiko was already at the door when they got home.

"Honey, I'm back." He greeted her with Megumi letting out a more well-mannered but meek. "Hi, Mom."

Early in her years, Tojiko was always the one to instill a healthy sense of discipline in Megumi. Sometimes she can be too harsh, which is where Takumi came in. Being the softer, more understanding parent.

"Get down from your father and get your butt inside, the food is going to be cold."

"Yes, hon." "Yes, mom." Seeing the appropriate attitude, Tojiko's face changed from a scowl, her scarred lips spread into a cheeky smile.
