Chap 110: the day of gift

Flying on top of Nue again, Takumi was in deep thought. His mind was working like it could overheat at any time. This world already has enough trouble for him, now it gives him this.

"Haaaaaah" he let out a long breath. "Well, this isn't my business to attend. Hopefully, they'll give up and move on to a different world."

They won't, he spent all the time on the way back to Japan thinking about how to approach this. Realistically, there is only one way when he knows a person's heart won't be that easily swayed. But it's not as if he'll go there and tell that other person to stop, but if they ever decided to go to his world, then death is the only thing he can give them. This threat they bring will only strengthens his own resolve to get stronger.

He made sure to call everyone back as soon as possible, going to his home. Takumi brought a new change of clothe, giving him a fresh look and returned to the hospital. Going up, Takumi opened the door to Toji's room.

"Heyyyy~" He said in the most enthusiastic tone of voice, a bright smile spread clearly as sunshine on his face.

"Sup." She tried to smile, but it came out flat.

At the end of today would be the seventh month of her pregnancy, judging from the belly that had really become considerably bigger. The child could come out at any time now.

He went to her side, her callous hand wrapped around his.

"Any day now," the doctor said, and they believed her.

Tojiko feels and looks like she’s just about to pop, but the baby has decided to stay a little longer, cozy and warm in mother’s belly, even though he hoped the child would come out every day.

“She can’t hear you,” Toji said, to which Takumi scoffed and went on a tangent about how important it is to speak to babies, even while still in the belly.

Something he'd never thought about doing, was it some kind of instinct kicking in? Or were the old Takumi souls there somewhere?

'It isn't important.' He has a responsibility to raise this child. Tojiko isn't the best example to follow, so Takumi guessed it's he who's going to take that role.

“Missed you,” she scoffed. “Hate it when you leave.”

"Sorry."

He spent the next week or so just with her, no fighting, no training. He has spend all the time he has to fully devote to taking care of his wife.

Her pregnancy ended in late December, given birth to a healthy daughter.

A chaotic day that was.

"An emergency C-section...." His small voice is muffled by the many voices that came from the room on his opposite side.

Here he sat, quietly in the hall, hand in his head. Waiting as his wife was rushed on a stretcher by doctors and nurses.

He knew how the story would go, but that was before he entered it, now everything is like a slot machine. Rolling out a random number of chaos, he knew Toji was strong with her blessed body, he also knew the way in which the child inside of her was born. It ends with the mother dying for the child, and that terrified him greatly.

Luck is not something he can control, for all the powers he has, not a single one is able to change luck. And as he sat there, he could only hope that somehow luck could help him.

It feels like centuries before he’s allowed to see her again. The doctors have stitched Tojiko back up, but he can see how pale her lips are, those lines of fatigue under her eyes.

"See, i told you....no problem." Even when tired, she still wanted to sound tough.

"She has your looks." He said, hand extending to the bundle in her arm.

The sleeping child who bears the zennin curse technique. Sleeping soundly in a white bundle he carries, she's big too, like her mother. His gaze falls onto the baby, his daughter, a new sensation stirs within him. It filled his chest, drowning his heart to beat in an uneven rhythm.

"Megumi. Her name is Megumi." Tojiko managed to blurt out those words as her eyes failed to keep open.

'Hmm....how fitting.' This time the name was actually for the right gender.

Takumi smiled.

The very next day, he filled out that name in his newborn daughter's birth certificate.

"She got your eyes." Waking up after a full day of rest, Tojiko state is back to almost full health. In a couple days, she'll able to leave.

He didn't catch that the first time he held the baby, because she was asleep then. Now, in the day he can see clearly, two emerald color eyes. They looked so innocent, full of wonder for life.

And then it landed on him, he watched with fascination. His daughter registering the person she's seeing. Cooing, her tiny hand reaching out of the blue onesie he bought.

The girl looks so cute in his arms, and yet. The strong presence of the curse technique would say otherwise. It is a small amount but he knows what it is. He could recognize it in an instant, as he also had it.

But that could be left for another day, right now is the time he wanted to spend intimate emotions with his wife. Just being a simple family.

"I love you."

"I love you too."

The sincere words followed by a kiss between them, shared only for lovers behind the safe confiine of closed doors.

------------

In a world far away, inside an apartment room. A group of people wearing tight black spandex suits, there were glowing ports located all over the suits.

There were six of them, all waiting in front of a black orb.

Five females and one male, despite the multitube in emotions they have. Only the guy was smiling, maybe too much.

"Uhmm, Tak-kun ?" One of the girls shyly approached him.

"Hmm ?"

"Etou......did something good happen? You look very happy."

"Oh, yeah. Something did, i just can't wait to get home."

"I see. Uhhh....good for you, but can we focus on the task at hand, please ?"

"Don't be so tense, it'll be fine." Pointing a thumb back to two women in the back, "We got them, I'll just be in your way."

"Haha....yeah."

Gantz began to play a traditional song, everyone immediately felt the pressure of their task tonight.

It shines a light on one person and transports them out of this room, one by one. When the song ends, no one is left in the room.
