Best Friends

[Yuito's POV]

.

.

.

{It's not funny}

"hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaaha!!!!!"

{It's really not that funny.}

"HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa!!!!!!!!!!"

{Stop it.}

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!"

{FUCK YOU!!!!! PACK YOUR BAGS RIGHT NOW!!! We are leaving this world, Boku no Pico, Goblin Slayer, here we COME!!!}

Only when the author said that did my laughter die down. But not completely though as I couldn't help snickering at him.

{Wow, what an asshole you are.}

*Wheeze* " I am so sorry, I can't help it." I said to him while I returned my eyes on the phone in my hand.

On the phone, there was an open app called 'Webnovel''. It was such a nostalgic feeling seeing it in this life as it reminded me of my past life.

And on that app was opened a book, a fanfiction called 'A Life with the Author'.

Yeah, you guessed it. It was a book about my life which the author had written with the excuse of having no creativity to create his own story.

That was why he reincarnated me after seeing my willingness to be reincarnated. He couldn't come up with his own story so he would observe my life in another world and write about it and publish it.

Now here comes the funny part, the story has a total rating of 2.4 stars!!!

"Pft-hahaha." I chuckled seeing that, as a friend of the author, I have the duty of laughing at him first before helping him or being sympathetic with him.

I scrolled through the plethora of reviews that were just 1-spams who were all raging about the NTR plot. I have an inkling as to what that was about, but it was still funny.

Right now, I was in the Author's account so I was able to see all the spam reviews he had deleted as well. They nearly reached hundreds at this point.

How someone could get that much hate was beyond me.

[IMAGE of the reviews.]

"How did you even do this?" I asked, genuinely curious now that the humor was gone.

{Bitch, it's YOUR fucking life story. You tell me!!}

I scrolled through many of negative reviews and all of them seemed to have only one issue which was the NTR. Nothing else was mentioned much.

Well, I can't judge without reading so let's first give it a try.

I tapped the 'Read' button and began reading the book about my life. The first chapter was titled 'The answered prayer'.

The thought I had in mind as I scrolled down and read the chapter was, 'Oh fucking God.'

Reading about my time in my previous world, and reading my own line of thoughts and my prayer was a weird experience.

Memories that I thought I had forgotten rushed back at me as I reminisced about the past and I laughed at my past self.

My previous life cousin Amy was also mentioned. She was a girl I always had a crush on as a child and she grew up to be a woman with G-cup boobs. Sadly she was a hoe.

I thought I would have an existential crisis reading about myself and my own story but I was rather calm. Instead, I enjoyed the experience.

"You are a good writer," I commented, seeing the lively and humorous style of writing the author had.

I could feel the author blushing at my comment. Cute.

I paused though when I read a certain paragraph, (But just before unconsciousness claimed me, a voice asked what I wanted the most. And my lame-ass loner mind answered, 'A best friend.'.  I forgot about this in the morning though.)

..

..

"Ah. I see." I smiled, "Is that why you appear to me? To be my best friend as I wished or something?"

{Umm..Yes. I don't know if you liked it though.}

"Are you kidding?" I chuckled, "I loved it. I couldn't have made a better wish or ask for a better friend."

All the things we have gone through together came to my mind. At this point, I couldn't even imagine a life without the author.

"Thank you."

{...}

I smiled wider at his silence. He was just being shy, I know him well enough to know he gets shy easily when it comes to things.

Anyways, I continued reading the story and I learned that the Author was the same person who wrote another fanfic I knew.

"Wait, you are the one who wrote the trashy Bakugo fanfic!!!" I exclaimed, surprised and I laughed.

"What the hell? Why did you not tell me that?" I said, I know of that book and I liked it very much in my past life as well.

Sadly, there is barely any update and it's dropped.

"Wait, don't tell me that the MC there is real too? Just like me." I asked to which he answered.

{Yeah, it's real.}

"That's interesting. But why did you drop the book? I loved it!"

{Yeah about that, the MC died in his future fights and I don't know what to do with it.}

"..."

{...}

Okay, that went dark fast.

Moving on!!

I continued reading the book about my life and the feelings and emotions that bubbled up as I scrolled down could not be put into words.

To be fair, I got a few chuckles as I read the story but when I reached chapter 10, I stopped.

..

..

The reason being the next chapter was titled 'Tsukimi Chifuyu's POV'.

Now I felt weird, I was fine reading the story when it was in my perspective as it simply felt like reading my diary but what would happen if I read it from other people's perspective?

That felt wrong and intrusive. I was also a bit scared.

Sometimes, it was better to leave what was on another person's head into another person's head. It was a problem faced by quite a number of people who had mind-reading abilities.

In the end, I sighed and left the book.

Don't get me wrong, I wanted to read on and I am going to read on. But not right now.

Allow me to process this much for now.

I leave the chapters and focus on the book itself again. I couldn't help but smile when I see the synopsis of the story.

It was actually the one I wrote for him.

"Pft. Talk about being uncreative." I shook my head and looked at the link on the synopsis. I had an idea and pressed on it.

But sadly, my idea was proven to be impossible as I couldn't donate anything to the author. It was to be expected I guess, since it's a different world an all.

Then I proceeded to look at the reviews which at the moment was filled with 1-star spam that would be disheartening to any author.

But there were also a few who defended him which was nice.

Now that I really thought about it, I kinda feel bad for him. He did all the things like reincarnating me and witnessing all of my life just to get beaten down like this.

{Bah!! Don't feel too bad.} The author said, {It's my fault, I should've done a better job but also...}

{Look at the rankings!!} I could feel the smile on his face.

I exited his profile and went to the rankings where I saw the book being on the top 5.

[IMAGE of me in top 5]

"HAHAHAHAHA!! Good job!!" I said while looking at it. I could feel the author puffing out his chest in pride.

"This is amazing." I said, genuinely happy and adding a bit more as I looked at the 700+ power stones that he had.

{Yeah.} The author said, {It might be small and insignificant compared to all your achievements in this world but this means much to me.}

{It's a step closer to being a successful author.}

..

..

I smiled hearing that, feeling fuzzing in my heart which I noticed was pride for my friend.

My best friend.

"You will succeed." I said.

{haha, thanks Yuito.} the author said but I could tell from his voice that he didn't quite believe what I said.

"No, I mean it. I believe in you."

..

..

..

{Hn.} The author said. He sounded like he needed to hear that.

And so, I spent the whole day with my best friend where - for the first time - he opened up to me. He always knew of my whole life but I never knew of his, so this was a much-needed talk.

It was a significant day.
