Chapter 36. Underworld Pocket Dimension
Succubi Chapter 36. Underworld Pocket Dimension
The half-demon’s grin widened, and I swear the glow from his lava-cracked arm pulsed brighter in response. The other side—the clown side—remained awkwardly limp, hoodie sleeve flapping slightly as he took a step forward.
Clink.
Flap.
The air between us warped again, and that eerie silence returned. We were still in the academy restroom, technically—but the walls were wrong. The ceiling flickered with shadows that shouldn’t be there.
My system pinged again.
[Underworld Pocket Dimension Stabilized]
[Combat State Engaged.]
[Enemy Identified: Half-Demon (Lv. 10)]
[HP: ???]
[Danger Level: HIGH]
Well, that’s comforting.
I dropped low, my hand already moving through the motion, and whispered, “Shadow Blade.”
A pulse of cold darkness surged from my palm, twisting and curling until it solidified into a long, obsidian-like blade, matte black with a gleaming edge. It vibrated faintly in my grip like it was hungry.
The half-demon didn’t wait.
He moved.
FAST.
I barely managed to twist my torso to the side as his lava claw swiped past where my neck had just been. I could feel the heat graze my cheek like I stuck my face out a car window—straight into a volcano.
The sink behind me shattered into a spray of ceramic shards.
“Damn,” I muttered, backpedaling as fast as my feet could go.
He came again, this time a feint to the left and a spinning backfist with that terrifyingly slow but brutal flip-flop arm. I ducked, slid under it, and retaliated.
“Shadow Blade—slash!”
My blade connected with his side—not the clown side, the cool side.
[CRITICAL HIT!]
[Damage Dealt: 1,216]
The blade phased through his lava-skin, like slicing into hard meat, and I heard a grunt. His foot shifted back, claws dragging sparks across the floor.
‘Huh?’ I thought.
Those damage notification things didn’t show up when I was in training. But I guess that was because it detected it wasn’t a real fight. But this? This was real.
I didn’t get time to celebrate.
His foot came up—lava one—and slammed into my chest.
[Damage Taken: 412]
[HP: 9,608 / 10,020]
I flew backward, crashed into one of the stalls, and splintered the wooden divider like a bad action movie trope. I groaned, rolling to my side and coughing.
“You don’t… fight like you dress,” I grunted.
He stalked toward me, glowing eyes narrowed. “You talk too much.”
“Yeah, well, you flip-flop too hard.”
He lunged again.
I activated Devil Armor instantly.
A ring of dark sigils lit up beneath me, and in a flash, the hellforged armor enveloped my body—shadow-infused plates, glowing red trim, and those classic demonic spikes. Just in time.
His claw hit me square in the chest again.
[Physical Damage: Negated]
[Cursed Retaliation Triggered]
[Damage Reflected: 524]
He reeled slightly from the hitback, giving me just enough time to retaliate. I surged forward, my shadow blade shifting into a spear mid-dash.
[Shadow Blade – Adapt: Spear Mode.]
I leapt into the air, twisted, and brought the spear down on his back.
[Damage Dealt: 884]
He roared and twisted, throwing a punch—but I was already gone, dashing past him with my boosted agility.
“Dark Healing!”
Shadowy tendrils swirled around me, healing the bruises across my ribs and surging stamina back through my limbs.
[HP Restored: +520]
[Combat Efficiency Boost: +20% for 10 seconds]
I moved faster now, circling him like a shadow. He grunted in annoyance and raised his arms, channeling some kind of energy. Flames swirled around his lava hand, forming a pulsing orb.
“Oh no you don’t,” I muttered. “You’re not launching a fireball in a bathroom—this place barely has ventilation!”
He flung it. I sidestepped, barely. The ball scorched the walls, exploded behind me, and sent a fiery blast through the mirror section.
Shards of enchanted glass rained everywhere. Steam hissed from broken pipes. Flames licked at the tiles.
And I was done messing around.
I pulled in every ounce of shadow energy in the area. The flickering lights dimmed. The cracks in the mirror absorbed the ambient light like ink.
I gritted my teeth and raised my hands. “Shadow Blade—charged form!”
My weapon morphed, warped into a shortbow made of shadows and serrated energy. The bowstring trembled with power. I drew it back with one arm and formed three arrows from the darkness swirling around us.
The demon noticed too late.
“Fire.”
THWIP-THWIP-THWIP!
All three arrows hit his chest, neck, and shoulder.
[CRITICAL HIT!]
[Damage: 1,099]
[1,302]
[989]
He stumbled backward, snarling now, the glowing veins in his lava side flashing violently.
He lunged again, this time aiming straight for my throat.
But I was faster.
“Death Wave!”
I unleashed it point-blank.
A black ring of necrotic energy burst outward in a vicious ripple. The bathroom trembled. The walls darkened. The floor cracked.
[AoE Damage: 3,012]
[Sin Affinity Multiplier Activated]
The half-demon roared, stumbled to one knee, steam rising off his body. His hoodie sleeve burned to ashes. His clown sneaker—yes, he had a sneaker under the flip-flop—melted.
I staggered backward, breathing heavy, mana sizzling at the edge of my vision. I was down to half my energy.
[DP: 61 / 120]
The room was a wreck.
Shattered sinks. Crushed stalls. Burned floor. The air smelled like ash and melted plastic. The tile was cracked, smeared with black mist from my Death Wave’s aftermath.
And in the middle of it all, the half-demon looked up at me, half his body scorched, the other still eerily untouched.
He grinned.
“You’re strong… for a freshblood.”
I pointed my blade at him. “Yeah? You’re tough. But you still look like a half-baked cosplay.”
His smirk twitched.
“You’ll be forever hunted…,” he said, dragging himself back with a hiss. “This world… it won’t protect you.”
“Tell that to your other shoe,” I muttered, keeping my blade raised.
The half-demon just laughed.
A full, cracked, two-tone cackle that echoed off the warped shadows and scorched tiles of the bathroom like a haunted sitcom laugh track with a glitch. The place looked like a demon-themed apocalypse had chosen the academy restroom as its final battleground—and honestly, that wasn't far off.
“Funny,” he rasped, smoke curling from the cracks in his molten skin. “You won’t be laughing much longer.”
‘You were the one who laughed!’ I complained internally.
Then he charged.
No hesitation. No delay.
Just molten rage and speed that didn’t belong on a body with a duck hoodie and a pink flip-flop.
I braced and barely got my blade up before he slammed his clawed arm into my chest.
[Damage Taken: 788]
[HP: 8,820 / 10,020]
The force threw me across the tiled floor like a ragdoll, crashing me against a half-melted sink. The porcelain cracked, and a burst of cold water sprayed my shoulder like a really poorly timed comedy gag.
“Okay, ow,” I grunted, spitting out tile dust.
I pivoted fast, swinging my blade as he came in for a follow-up.
[CRITICAL HIT!]
[Damage Dealt: 1,091]
My blade cut through his shoulder, but he didn’t flinch. The clown-side arm came next—still awkward as hell—but with a surprising amount of power. I ducked, rolled under it, and slipped toward the stalls.
“Shadow Blade—Bow Mode!”
The blade dissolved and reformed in my grip, stretching into a sleek obsidian bow. Shadows curled around the bowstring like serpents.
I drew.
Loosed.
[Damage Dealt: 987]
The shadow arrow struck him in the chest, staggering him slightly, but even as I landed and readied another shot, I saw the glow build in his throat.
“Oh, you’ve got to be kidding—”
-BOOM!
The fire blast engulfed everything. The stalls vaporized. The lights popped. And the heat? I felt it through my armor.
The crimson sigils lit up around me, and my body was instantly wrapped in jagged, burning-shadow plating.
[Direct Hit Absorbed]
[Cursed Retaliation Triggered – 664 Damage Reflected]
The fire roared around me like I’d been swallowed by a sun. I crouched low and waited it out, praying the walls held.
They didn’t.
-CRASH!
The back wall—already halfway gone—finally exploded outward, debris scattering through.
And suddenly, I was lying on what used to be a floor, coughing up smoke in the middle of a half-melted empty hallway.
This wasn’t the real academy.
Still sealed off. Still just me and him.
