Chapter 146. Who’d You Sleep With?
Succubi Chapter 146. Who’d You Sleep With?
I went to my arcana class, which I got separated with Evelyn and Leon.
Good thing no Ares either.
Because yeah… after the circus that was the duel earlier, Radiant Slash, Callahan acting like a dumped boyfriend, Evelyn wiping my face with a floral towel like I was her personal gym prince, I was barely functioning. Mentally. Spiritually. And most of all, olfactorily.
My sweat was working overtime.
And since I’d skipped the shower this morning, that cologne Evelyn lent me? The gym one?
Yeah. That wasn’t fading.
That was activating.
Every bead of sweat was basically amplifying her signature scent into the room like a slow releasing bomb of sweet feminine floral hell. It smelled good, okay? Like really good. Like spa mixed with warm girl hug and a hint of lavender skin oil.
But on me?
It didn’t look good.
And when I say look, I mean socially.
Because the moment I stepped into my Arcana class, heads turned.
And not the cool kind of turn.
The what the hell is that smell kind of turn.
But anyway. I was here. I had survived the duel. I was seated at my desk with my mana quill and notebook. And I was not about to let people’s stares kill me. Because frankly, I was too tired to care.
Adrian sat beside me. Lucky me.
Felix two seats away.
Kyra in the row behind.
And me?
Sitting in the middle like some kind of floral scented guilt magnet.
Yeah, I was almost late. Thanks, duel.
Ares was stronger now. In just a few days, actually. Which was kinda wild. Like seriously, was he always that strong? Because I swear when I met him the first time, he didn’t give that vibe. Back then he felt like the kind of guy who’d spend more time giving speeches about virtue and discipline than actually swinging a sword with god-light fury.
Now?
It’s like he evolved.
I even started wondering if the one I fought first was just his twin. Same face. Same Valor robes. But less power. Less cool. A lot more talking. Maybe I got tricked. Wouldn’t be the first time Valor pulled some weird dramatic twin nonsense.
Whatever.
I took a deep breath and opened my book.
Class started.
The professor, old guy with too much hair in the wrong places and none where it mattered, started talking about elemental attunement mismatches and arcana feedback loops. I tried to focus. Really. Even nodded a few times like a well-behaved student. Took notes. Scribbled formulas. Made a half-hearted diagram.
But I felt Adrian’s gaze stabbing the side of my head like a cursed pin.
Not sharp.
Just… persistent.
Glance. Pause. Glance again. Squint.
Repeat.
I turned slightly, gave him the most neutral eyebrow raise I could muster. He flinched, turned back like he was so innocent. Yeah right.
Felix?
I caught his look next.
Deadpan.
Flat.
A stare that said one thing “Are you kidding me?”
Bro didn’t even try to hide it. He just stared at me like I’d just summoned a demon in the middle of spell theory and gave it a kiss on the forehead.
And Kyra?
Ah, Kyra.
She didn’t even look mad.
Just… sad.
Or maybe disappointed?
No. No, wait. Jealous?
Oh. Ohhh. That was it.
The perfume.
It was the goddamn cologne.
It had to be.
I mean, I was practically the air freshener of the room right now.
Thanks to the whole post duel sweaty situation, the scent just kept getting stronger.
It wafted. Like soft little clouds of feminine softness being dragged through an arcane battlefield by a disheveled guy who hadn’t showered.
And Kyra?
Her nose twitched every few seconds. She tried to look like she wasn’t sniffing. But she was.
Her fingers kept tapping her desk like she was counting how long it’d take before she snapped and threw something at me.
I just kept writing.
Head down.
Survive the class.
I’d already accepted my fate the moment I chose breakfast over shower this morning.
I made peace with it.
I smelled like a girl.
A hot girl, yes, but a girl nonetheless.
At least I smelled nice.
The class ended.
And I barely had time to stretch before it started.
A unified turn.
Like a hydra of judgment.
Adrian. Felix. Kyra. Even two more classmates I didn’t recognize. They all turned toward me in perfect sync like I was some bizarre wildlife specimen and the zoo gates had just opened.
“Alright,” Adrian said first. “Who’d you sleep with?”
I blinked. “Excuse me?”
“You’re wearing perfume,” Felix said flatly. “A lot of perfume.”
“It’s cologne,” I corrected, raising my hand like that’d help.
“That’s gym cologne,” Kyra chimed in with a weirdly sad tone. “The more you sweat, the more it releases.”
“Which explains everything,” Adrian muttered.
Felix sniffed. “Are you sure this isn't an illusion spell? Like, a ‘smell like the girl you like’ kind of thing? Did you get hexed?”
I squinted. “No? I borrowed it. From Evelyn.”
They all froze.
“…Evelyn Evelyn?” Kyra asked, frowning.
“Yes?”
Kyra looked like she was calculating something painful in her head. Then she just sighed.
Felix, meanwhile, looked like he was reliving trauma. “You willingly took perfume from the Valor’s new shadow assassin?”
“She offered.”
“Did you test it?”
“I sprayed it.”
“Dear gods.” Felix muttered like he was reciting a prayer.
Adrian rubbed his temples. “Bro. What were you thinking? I know you are close to her, but you still need to be careful.”
“That I didn’t want to smell like unholy armpit in front of everyone?” I replied.
Felix sighed. “You smell like temptation. In a classroom.”
Kyra crossed her arms. “And that’s worse than armpit.”
I stared. “So what? Should I go roll in dirt next time?”
“Yes!” they all said in unison.
I blinked. “Okay, calm down. I get it.”
I wiped my face with the sleeve of my robe and let out the most tired sigh. “It’s just perfume. Why’s this a big deal?”
Kyra squinted at me like I’d just said blood rituals were no biggie. She took a step closer, eyes narrowing with the seriousness of someone about to drop forbidden lore.
“Evan…” she said, voice low. “You took a perfume…”
“Yes?” I answered, dry.
“…from Evelyn.”
I raised an eyebrow. “She offered it,” I repeated.
Kyra exhaled like I was the densest man alive. “She’s a Valor, yeah. But not a normal Valor.”
