Chapter 13. Collectible List

Succubi Chapter 13. Collectible List

I decided to kill some time by opening my laptop and browsing around. I didn’t have any textbooks or class materials yet since the Academy would distribute them on the first day.

Which, honestly?

Nice.

One less thing to worry about.

I leaned back in my chair, scrolling through random news and forums, but my mind kept drifting. I sighed, shaking my head before closing my laptop.

If I thought about this too much, I’d probably fry my own brain.

Instead, I grabbed my old school bag and checked it out. I’d had this bag since high school, and yeah, maybe it was a little old, but I liked it. And since I’d be carrying books, weapons, and whatever else this Academy threw at me, I figured I might as well stick with something familiar.

I glanced at the time. I figured dinner would take a while—Lilith had so much food to prepare, after all.

But nope.

Barely an hour had passed since we dropped off the groceries when the intercom buzzed. A smooth, feminine voice echoed through the estate.

"All students, please gather at the dining hall for dinner. We will also be introducing the new members."

I sat up from my desk, eyes flicking to the clock.

Over an hour.

That was it.

And Lilith was done cooking?

I blinked.

Did she have a time-stopping ability or something?

I sighed and got up, stretching before heading toward the dining hall. The moment I stepped inside, my first thought was…. ‘Holy hell. This place is fancy!’

The elegant chandeliers, long dining table, and rich crimson décor made me feel like I had accidentally stepped into some noble family’s dinner.

I hesitated for a second before finally sitting down at the table.

Not long after, the others started arriving.

The first was Evelyn. She sat down beside me without a word, calm as ever.

I blinked in surprise when I saw the next person.

Gladia.

She was here?

I watched as she walked in, snacking on a bag of chips like this was just another Tuesday.

She caught my staring, then casually held the bag out toward me.

"Want some?" she asked.

I blinked again. "Uh… I’m good."

She shrugged and went back to eating.

‘Okay…’

Guess she wasn’t surprised to see me.

Next was Rivy.

She walked in with the same confident stride as before, arms crossed, scanning the room like she was expecting something interesting to happen.

Then… Sera.

I thought she was some kind of staff member when I first met her, but nope. She was definitely a student. And just like before, she looked half-asleep. Her eyes flicked toward me, then she let out a long, tired sigh.

"Oh," she muttered. "Anomaly. You’re here."

I exhaled sharply. "It’s Evan Drakos," I corrected.

Sera blinked slowly, then repeated, "I still will call you ‘Anomaly’."

I groaned internally.

Before I could argue, the next girl walked in. And she was… Different.

Long, jet-black hair. Crimson-red eyes. Dressed in an elegant, formal outfit that screamed nobility.

She walked in with flawless posture, taking her seat gracefully, her gaze shifting over everyone in the room before finally landing on me.

Her lips curled into a faint smile.

Rivy immediately sighed. "Can you stop dressing like that?" she muttered. "This is just an ordinary dinner, not a gala event."

The girl barely reacted. "I’m free to dress however I want," she said smoothly.

Then, her crimson gaze locked onto me and Evelyn.

"You must be Evelyn," she said, her voice rich with confidence.

Evelyn simply nodded.

Then, the girl’s eyes flicked to me. "And you… must be Eva."

I physically cringed. "Evan," I corrected immediately. "You forgot the ‘n’."

She smiled. Not apologetic. Just amused.

"Valeria Crestfall," she introduced herself. "I love collecting rare things."

I blinked. That was one way to introduce yourself. I forced a polite smile. "Nice hobby."

Valeria nodded. "Yes, I think so too."

Then, with a slightly unsettling amount of enthusiasm, she dropped the bomb. "And I’m very excited today."

I froze slightly. She was looking directly at me.

"I heard," she continued, tilting her head slightly, "that there was a different student this year. A unique one." Her smile widened. "That would make an interesting collection."

I internally cringed. Yeah. I had a really bad feeling about this. I forced a laugh, trying to play it off. "Hah… yeah, I bet that student’s gonna have a wild time."

Valeria’s eyes glimmered. I could tell she knew exactly who she was talking about. And she was definitely talking about me.

Fantastic!

I had been at this Academy for less than a day, and I was already feeling like some rare limited edition trading card everyone wanted to collect.

Valeria’s eyes were still locked onto me, her smirk filled with something too knowing for my liking.

I didn’t know whether she wanted to study me, own me, or experiment on me like some rare lab rat, but either way— Not a fan.

But before I could respond to whatever the hell that was supposed to mean, the sound of heels clicking against the floor made everyone turn toward the entrance.

Lilith had arrived.

And, of course, she didn’t just walk in.

She glided in, like this was some elegant ballroom event rather than a casual dorm dinner. She wasn’t even holding one or two dishes. She carried a platter stacked with food, moving with so much grace and confidence that it looked effortless.

Behind her, more food appeared, floating mid-air.

Okay. That was new…

A quick glance at the others showed they weren’t surprised—which meant this was normal.

Lilith flicked her wrist, and the floating dishes gently landed on the table, perfectly placed without so much as a spill. And I, being the idiot I was, stood up immediately to help.

Instinct.

Maybe it was because I was raised to not let someone handle everything on their own.

Maybe it was because I just wanted something to do instead of sitting there being analyzed like a rare diamond.

Either way, I moved, grabbing plates, setting utensils, making sure everything was in place.

Lilith noticed, of course.

She smiled slightly, tilting her head. "Oh? Being helpful?"

I shrugged. "You brought a lot of food. Least I could do."

She chuckled softly, placing down the last dish. "How charming."

I barely heard her, though.

Because I had just processed something.

And that something?

Was Lilith herself.

Her outfit.

Her V-neck outfit.

That deep, plunging neckline that left very little to the imagination.

I blinked, trying very hard not to stare.

Which was harder than expected, considering she also had her hair neatly styled, a bit of lipstick on her lips, and…

Wait. Wait. Wait! She had time to do all this?!

She just cooked an entire feast in an hour, and she also had time to do her hair, put on lipstick and a bit of makeup, and even apply perfume?

I tried not to inhale too deeply, but the soft scent of vanilla and jasmine was already there, teasing my senses.

What kind of boss-level multitasking was this?!

Lilith finally clapped her hands together.

"Let’s eat," she said smoothly. "We’ll start introductions after the meal is finished."

No one argued.

Because the moment Lilith gave the signal, everyone immediately dug in.

And holy hell— The food was amazing.

Like, actual chef-level amazing.

Way better than cafeteria food—and, dare I say it, even better than my mom’s cooking.

I almost felt guilty admitting that.

Almost.

I took a bite of what looked like some kind of slow-cooked meat dish, and it melted in my mouth.

The sauce was rich, savory, and perfectly seasoned.

The side dishes? On point.

I wasn’t the only one impressed.

Gladia, who had been snacking on chips just minutes ago, was now eating enthusiastically.

Sera, despite her usual sleepy demeanor, was taking slow but steady bites.

Even Evelyn—who always seemed calm and composed—nodded slightly as she chewed, clearly satisfied with the quality.

Valeria, of course, ate elegantly, like she was at a royal banquet.

And Rivy?

Rivy just grinned.

"Still shocked how you pull this off, Lilith," she said, casually stabbing a piece of roasted vegetable with her fork.

Lilith smiled, completely unfazed. "It’s nothing."

Nothing? NOTHING?!

She made an entire gourmet feast in an hour and still had time to do her hair and makeup!

I swallowed another bite, shaking my head. "Seriously. What’s your secret?"

Lilith’s eyes twinkled with amusement. "Magic, of course."

I squinted. "…That’s cheating."

She simply smirked. "Don’t complain while you’re enjoying it."

I sighed, defeated. "Fair point."

We kept eating, and honestly?

Once the last plate was cleared, Lilith clapped her hands together again.

"Alright," she said, looking between me and Evelyn.

"Time for introductions."

I exhaled sharply, shifting in my seat as everyone’s attention turned toward us.

Lilith smiled. "Evelyn, Evan," she said smoothly. "Since you two are new, you should introduce yourselves first."

Evelyn, as always, was calm and unbothered.

I, however, felt mildly cornered.

Evelyn went first. "I’m Evelyn Nocturne," she said simply. "House of Valor. That’s all."

…That was it?

That was her entire introduction?!

I stared at her, slightly betrayed.

Lilith chuckled. "Short and to the point."

Then, of course, all eyes turned to me. I sighed.

"Evan Drakos," I said. "Apparently, I fit into every category."

Sera, who had been half-asleep, suddenly perked up slightly. "He is an anomaly," she said.

I narrowed my eyes at her. "You said it in front of me like ten times today. Can you not?” Well, on one side I love being an anomaly, but on the other side… I felt like I made myself a huge target for Valeria.

Sera shrugged lazily. "Some people are slow. You need to be on point."

I sighed. "Anyway, I’m in the House of Arcana."

Rivy raised an eyebrow. "Arcana? You don’t seem like the type."

I sighed. "Yeah, I know. I fight better up close. But House of Valor had that annoying student Ares, and I’m not dealing with that for the next few years."

Gladia, who had been munching on a leftover chip, suddenly snorted. "Understandable," she muttered.

Lilith nodded in approval. "A wise decision."

Even Valeria smirked slightly, tapping her fingers against the table. "Smart choice," she mused. "House of Arcana suits those with ambition." But her eyes… Yup, I 100% was sure I just entered her collectible list.

Before I could respond, Lilith turned toward the rest of the table.

"And now," she said, "I’ll introduce the girls."

She pointed toward Gladia, who was still casually snacking.

"Gladia Avarosa. She is my daughter. House of Arcana."

Lilith moved on.

Next, she gestured toward Rivy.

"Riven Ashborne, but most people call her Rivy. She is in House of Titans."

Rivy winked. "And you can call me anytime."

‘Yeah, I walked into that one.’

Lilith moved on to Sera. "Seraphina Lioré."

Sera yawned. "Sera’s fine. I’m in the House of Saints."

Then, finally, Lilith gestured toward Valeria. "And last but not least, Valeria Crestfall. House of Arcana."

Valeria smiled, tilting her head slightly. "A pleasure," she said smoothly. “ Val is fine.”

I nodded slowly, not entirely sure how I felt about her yet.

Lilith leaned back slightly, smiling.

"And that’s everyone," she said. "I expect all of you to get along well."
