Kuzan’s Compromise

"Liam, you are not making any sense here. You are pirates. We are Marines. How can we not be your enemies?"

Kuzan helplessly sighed and explained. Even if he didn't want to, he knew Pirates and Marines would always stand on opposite sides because of their position.

"What about Garp and Roger fighting Rocks?" Liam asked.

Kuzan wasn't surprised by this anymore. He replied.

"Rocks was another pirate. And a pirate with the ambition to rule the world."

"Isn't that the same thing?"

Liam chuckled, and before Kuzan could say anything, he continued.

"In my eyes, World Government is the biggest pirate group. Without thinking of any consequences, they loot money from different kingdoms."

"They use slavery for their enjoyment and kill whoever they don't like. How is this not any different from a pirate group?"

"Compared to them, our group is almost as good as possible. We are almost saints compared to them."

Kuzan narrowed his eyes but didn't say anything. His meaning was simple. He agreed with Liam's words.

On the other hand, Vegapunk was fascinated by Liam's words.

He never thought of comparing World Government to a pirate group.

But now, he realized many things between the World Government and the pirate group, especially the bad pirate groups, were similar.

"I know you don't want to fight against the World Government because it represents stability, but even with you siding with them, the World Government is destined to fall."

"It is a fate, Kuzan. This is destiny written for this world. You can change the destiny to create a new timeline, a new parallel world, but you can't change the original."

"This is the original fate of the Celestial Dragons and World Government. That's why the Revolutionaries haven't made any big moves. That's why Roger started the pirate era. That's why Luffy ate Nika Fruit."

Hearing that, Kuzan's heart shook for a moment. Because if this was a destiny, was Marine destined to fall?

He almost believed it because he remembered Liam's previous words.

He knew he would have a battle against Sakazuki. And, he would lose that battle.

Considering the possibility of leaving the Marines in the hands of Sakazuki, he knew they would confront the Straw Hat Pirates.

And, the result would be tragic.

He didn't care whether the Straw Hat Pirates would lose members or not. He cared whether Marines would still remain or vanish from history forever.

But even so, it wasn't easy to shake his heart. At least, he considered the possibility and shook off that thought from his mind.

He still had a lot of confidence in the Marines and himself.

Seeing this, Liam sighed and continued.

"Look, Kuzan, I don't know how I can convince you. But let me tell you something."

"When I first learned about the situation of Wano, its past and its present, I was furious. At first, I hated Orochi and Kaido for making the lives of people in Wano miserable."

"But as I learned more about the world, my hatred for Kaido and Orochi didn't die, but I hated someone even more than them."

"Do you know who that is?"

"Take a guess!"

Saying so, he got silent, giving Vegapunk and Kuzan some time to think.

After a while, Kuzan replied.

"Is it Kozuki Oden?"

"Yes, yes, I knew it. I just knew it. You can understand me, Kuzan. You are the only person who can understand me."

The excitement on Liam's face was something that made Kuzan embarrassed. After all, he was just making a guess.

He didn't have any confidence in his answer. He just said that because Kozuki Oden was the only famous person from Wano who could affect Wano.

"You hate him so much?" Vegapunk had also heard about Kozuki Oden. So, he curiously asked.

"As a pirate, I don't hate."

Liam replied. As he spoke, his expression darkened.

"But as a ruler, I despise him more than anything else. You know, someone like me who has God's perspective of this world, I always try to make things better for the people."

"Whether you trust me or not, everything I do is to make the lives of ordinary people better. So, just imagine how furious I was with this guy making a decision that ruined the lives of thousands of people from Wano."

"Why? Just because of a prophecy."

Liam clenched his fist. The anger was fully displayed in his face as he continued.

"No matter how much I try to change this world, I can't change the Original, but that's exactly why I am so furious. Even with that kind of perspective, I am still a part of this world."

"I live and breathe in this world. I eat and sleep in this world. I have friends. I have a girlfriend. Because of this, I want to change this world for the better."

"But as I said before, I can't do it because I am going to disappear soon. I have already told you."

Liam said while looking at Kuzan.

Kuzan nodded, but he didn't know how to respond to this. Because he didn't understand what Liam's disappearance from this world meant.

Was he going to stop being a pirate?

Was he going to die?

He didn't know.

On the other hand, Vegapunk's eyes widened.

"I see. I see. You are from the higher plane of existence. That's why you have God's perspective. I understand it now. You are not from this world."

"Because you have changed some things, this world is trying to reject you. And so you will disappear after a while. But you should have already changed a lot of things, right?"

"Does that mean you have created a new timeline for this world, making it a completely different world from the original world? If so, will the fate of the world remain the same?"

Hearing that, Liam chuckled.

"Sure enough! You are a genius scientist who could even clone himself. Your understanding of me is correct. This is also why I have God's Perspective of this world."

"As you said, I am disappearing because of the changes I made. But this also means the world is trying to return to its original fate by making me disappear."

"In other words, after making one last change, I will truly disappear, and the world will do its best to keep everything the same."

"But, the world in itself is not like a human being. For it, the consequences of changes must affect the fate of this world. Otherwise, it will not care about small changes."

"For its final fate, Luffy must get stronger. His original fate was to lose his brother. This would give him motivation to train hard so that he won't lose his friends like his brother."

"But, I wanted to change that. I didn't want him to lose his brother, so I made him stronger."

"So, even if he saves his brother, the world won't change anything because Luffy has already become stronger."

Hearing that, Kuzan narrowed his eyes and said.

"So, the Straw Hats will do anything to save their brother? Have you thought about the consequences of this action, Liam?"

"You don't understand Luffy."

Liam shook his head.

"For him, loneliness is the biggest pain and a curse. He doesn't want to be lonely, so he almost lost his life to become Ace's brother."

"As long as someone is a bad guy and the enemy of that bad guy gives meat to Luffy, Luffy will risk his life to defeat that bad guy."

"That's the kind of person he is. He won't interfere in other people's business, but once he does, he gets the job done."

"The only reason he would lose is simply due to a lack of strength. But, is that the case with him now?"

"Can Marine truly stop two Emperors from rescuing Ace? I don't think so. Of course, except for Ace, we won't save Whitebeard's crew."

"We are neither allies nor do we have any reason to save them. But during the war, we will do our best to cripple one of the Admiral. You know who that is."

Kuzan suddenly released Ice from his body, making the room colder as he spoke.

"Do you think I will let you do that? No matter what kind of person he is, Sakazuki is still my comrade."

"Then, think about it carefully! We won't his life, but if he becomes the Fleet Admiral, Straw Hats won't let Marines go."

"The sea needs marine. They don't need pirates."

Hearing this, Kuzan slowly calmed down. Although he also didn't want to side to pirates to cripple his comrade, he knew he had to make a hard decision here.

Because that decision could pretty much lead to the end or rebirth of the Marines.

He released a deep breath as his gaze became frighteningly stronger.

"Then help me find the right way, Liam! A way to make pirates disappear from the world forever."
