Growth from Battle

"We have talked about you. Now, let's talk about him."

Liam turned his attention towards Kuzan as he spoke.

Kuzan curiously asked.

"So, what about me? Did you also see my future?"

"Yes, but I don't really care about you. What I care about is your presence in the Marines."

Liam said.

He was pretty much sure that Marines wouldn't be the final villains because of the presence of Coby and Fujitora.

But that didn't mean he couldn't make it better.

"Remember how I told you that the World Government will one day be overthrown by the Straw Hat Pirates if nothing goes wrong?"

Kuzan nodded. He remembered Liam saying this and saying similar things many times.

Even though they had only met twice.

"Because of this, Marines need to play the role of bad guys."

"What?"

Kuzan clenched his fist and asked.

"What do you mean, Liam? Do you think pirates are the good guys?"

Liam shook his hand and said.

"Even Luffy knows pirates aren't good guys. But what if he is not a pirate but a god?"

Hearing that, Vegapunk's eyes widened as he said.

"You mean that god?"

"Yeah!"

Liam nodded and answered the confused Kuzan.

"Luffy ate Hito Hito No Mi- Model: Nika. He is the only person in eight hundred years who can awaken this fruit."

"You know about Devil Fruit more than anyone else, Vegapunk. They are the creation of people's desire and dreams."

"People like Kaido and Whitebeard couldn't awaken their fruits because of this exact reason."

When he said that, Vegapunk's eyes widened.

"Now that you mention it, it makes sense. Awakening is related to a person's actions. Especially in the case of Zoan Devil fruit that contains the Will of its inspiration."

Liam nodded his head and said.

"Exactly! Whitebeard might not be a kind and pure person, but what he wants is a simple family. He was forced to become a pirate because of the World Government."

"He ate the Gura Gura No Mi, but he doesn't want to destroy the world."

"Kaido is a warmonger. He wants to destroy the world, but he ate Fish Fish Fruit Model: Azure Dragon. Azure Dragon symbolizes prosperity and protection."

"This is exactly opposite to what Kaido is doing in Wano Country. That's why he can't awaken it."

"On the other hand, Logia can awaken it by simply becoming more and more like their elements."

"You and Sakazuki are the prime example of that."

Liam said while pointing at Kuzan.

"Because you gave up everything and became lazy, your heart is no longer burning with passion. You see injustice, but you choose to ignore it. In simple words, your heart has become as cold as ice."

Hearing that, Kuzan simply lowered his head and said nothing. He knew Liam was right. His heart was freezing just like his powers.

Before that incident, his Justice was burning Justice. He was full of passion to save people and bring peace to the Sea.

But after that incident, he questioned himself and the Justice of the Marines. But he never tried to do anything about it.

That's why he was frozen just like his fruit.

"On the other hand, Sakazuki became as hot-headed and merciless as lava. He burns everything, whether they are his enemies or his friends. So, it is very easy for him to awaken his fruit."

"Borsalino is also similar. His motto is to follow orders because he is simply a cog in the machine. He just wants to follow the rules."

"Just like how light must follow the rule to move. It can't bend unless something like gravity affects it. It always goes straight."

"At the same time, all three of you know the consequences of constantly using your devil fruit awakening. Unlike Zoan and Paramecia, Logia can fundamentally change the environment."

"If you accidentally use Awakening in small battles, then it will cause immeasurable destruction for common people. So, to minimize the use of your devil fruit, your personality became opposite to your devil fruit."

"Sakazuki ate Magma fruit, but his heart is as cold as ice. You ate Ice Fruit, but your heart is as hot as fire. Borsalino ate Light Fruit, but his heart is as slow as a snail."

Hearing his words, Kuzan couldn't help but look at him with admiration.

He didn't care how Liam knew about this. Because he found that Liam knew them quite well.

At least, compared to other people, Liam was probably only the few who understood them from the perspective of their devil fruits.

Liam paused for a moment before asking.

"Kuzan, tell me something! If you fight someone for ten days, lose the battle, even lose one of your legs, would you still grow stronger after that battle?"

Hearing this, Kuzan thought for a moment. He couldn't help but connect Liam's words to his future.

Would he fight someone for ten days?

Is it going to be one of the Emperors? But even if it was an Emperor, he didn't think he could last for ten days.

So, it had to be someone at the level of an Admiral, right?

But then again, in a life and death battle, there wouldn't be a huge difference between an Emperor and an admiral.

So, which one would it be?

Suddenly, his eyes narrowed as he came to a conclusion.

'Sakazuki!'

'He is the only one I might fight for ten days. Because of our strength, that battle will take a lot to create a winner. So, I will definitely lose a limb.'

'If this is the case, will I lose a battle against Sakazuki? It doesn't seem impossible. After all, his crazy drive to become the Fleet Admiral is indeed strong.'

At this moment, Kuzan nodded his head.

"Indeed! Even if I lose one of my legs, I would grow stronger. Not only will my Haki become stronger, but even my Devil Fruit would become much colder."

"My control over my devil fruit would also increase. So, you can say that I will become much stronger."

Hearing that, Liam sighed a breath of relief.

"Originally, I thought Luffy and I could fight you Admirals with just Advance Haki and Devil fruit powers, but only after that fight, I realized you guys were truly monsters."

"But, even so, you shouldn't have the power to defeat captains/commanders of the four emperors instantly. This kind of power can only be achieved if you can improve your strength after a massive battle."

Suddenly, he raised his head and asked.

"Does that mean Borsalino is stronger than you and Sakazuki right now?"

Kuzan touched his chin and replied.

"Is that what you think? I don't think so. I admit Borsalino is as strong as us, but he shouldn't be stronger than us."

"Simply because his physical skills and Haki are weaker than ours. Of course, his main strength still comes from his Devil Fruit, which is more powerful than ours."

"But Sakazuki has the most powerful offensive Devil Fruit, while I trained my fist and Haki with Garp. So, we are all equal in strength."

Suddenly, he glanced at Liam and said.

"Before this, I wouldn't have said this. But I think Sakazuki can defeat us in a battle, especially with his desire to become the Fleet Admiral."

"After that battle, I believe his strength will be much stronger than Borsalino's. Even I should get stronger, but that would only be a little bit."

"Of course, this little bit is far wider than you can imagine."

Hearing that, Liam waved his hands and said.

"No, I can. Before my battle with Kaido, I didn't realize just how weak my Haki was. But after the battle, my Haki has grown tremendously."

"If I hadn't gone through this battle, it wouldn't have increased so much. But I have to say, each Admiral and an Emperor is a monster."

"It's like fighting someone who has all of your skills, is more proficient in using those skills, and even has a greater type of power."

"Kaido has insane recovery, amazing offensive ability, and strong Haki. Big Mom is almost impenetrable and has a ridiculous Devil Fruit."

"Whitebeard has Shock Fruit that is impossible to guard against and is a master of all three types of Haki with an unimaginable level of physical powers."

"Only Shanks seems normal until you realize that you can't even use your Observation Haki in front of this battle."

"Fighting someone who can outmatch you in speed and block your Observation Haki is almost the same as seeking death."

Hearing that, Kuzan nodded and asked.

"So, what about Admirals?"

"All three of you have the rarest type of Devil Fruit on top of having ridiculously powerful Armament and Observation Haki."

"Although you three don't have Conqueror Haki, you have trained your bodies to perfection."

"That means you can launch superhuman attacks comparable, if not more powerful than, devil fruits with just your body."

"In simple words, you guys are just a bunch of monsters."

"And, that's exactly why I don't want Straw Hats to be your enemies."
