Chapter 238: Is that you, Yumiko?

--Friday, June 12, 2172

Once she was perfectly put together, Keiko started typing on her laptop at high speed with a calm, composed expression, as if nothing had happened. Soon, Yumiko arrived at the mansion carrying a couple of bags, which she casually left at the entrance before walking to the living room and sitting down.

““Welcome back.”” Keiko and Kai greeted in unison. Yumiko smiled and, after letting out a small, tired sigh, replied.

“I’m back.”

“A tough day?”

Keiko asked with a serene smile as she closed her laptop. Yumiko took the teacup offered by the beautiful woman dressed as a maid with a grateful smile and, after a small sip, replied in a weary voice.

“A little. I was going to rehearse the choreography with the models, but one of them showed up drunk, so I had to replace her, and it was a complete disaster. I really don’t know how I used to handle this before I had this strength—I almost gave up…”

“I see it was a fun day, fufu.” Keiko commented in a playful tone. Yumiko rolled her eyes and turned to look at Kai, then said with a smile.

“Kai-chan, I’ll take a bath, put on something decent, and we’ll go.”

“No problem.” Kai answered calmly and opened his computer to kill time, since he was sure he’d be waiting at least half an hour.

“Then I’ll go get ready too.”

Keiko said with a smile as she stood up. In the process, “inadvertently,” she opened her legs a bit too much, allowing the young man in front of her to see perfectly under her dress.

Noticing Keiko’s action, Yumiko couldn’t help looking at her with a hint of disbelief. But she quickly lifted the cup to her lips and glanced discreetly at Kai, a strange analytical light shining in her beautiful blue eyes. Seeing that Kai behaved normally, as if he hadn’t seen anything, Yumiko couldn’t help giving Keiko a slightly suspicious look.

But when she did, the beautiful blue-haired mother found Keiko looking back at her with a gaze somewhere between playful and teasing, which left her somewhat confused—and even more suspicious. Keiko was making a move, that was certain, but it was hard to determine to what extent.

Reaching that conclusion, Yumiko’s expression inevitably turned a bit complicated. But it wasn’t because she felt repulsed; in truth, she felt more a strange anticipation, fear, and a touch of jealousy. Wearing that complicated expression, Yumiko took another sip of her tea, then looked down at her clothes: simple blue jeans and a loose T-shirt.

(What am I thinking? Kai-chan is my Nejire’s man!)

Realizing the strange ideas bubbling up inside her, Yumiko scolded herself, quickly finished her tea, then stood up and went upstairs. After a bath, Yumiko looked at the semi-formal pants-and-vest set she had prepared, indecision written on her face.

“Better find something else… for no special reason…”

Murmuring to herself with a faint blush on her cheeks, Yumiko began to go through the wardrobe—which was actually a room almost twice the size of her bedroom. After sorting through her vast collection of clothes, Yumiko ended up with three possible options laid out on a long table full of drawers that occupied the center of the room.

The first outfit was a long bluish dress with a high slit; the second was a pants-and-corset set; and the third was a black miniskirt with a white blouse. Although Yumiko made sure to look over the other two outfits, her eyes never left the skirt-and-blouse combo, her mind wandering to Kai’s expression when he saw her.

“No, something that youthful isn’t for me anymore…”

Yumiko started to debate with herself—wanting to but lacking the nerve—when a message arrived on her phone. The message was from Kai and simply had the time written on it, nothing more—Kai’s way of hurrying everyone along. Feeling a bit irritated at being rushed, Yumiko bit her lip for a second, then picked up the miniskirt with an expression full of the desire for “revenge.”

………

After sending three time reminders to the pair of women who had already been getting ready for over forty-five minutes, Kai let out a weary sigh. After receiving a calming tea from Rin—the substitute for Mrs. Yoshiko, who was on vacation—Kai stood at the garden door and got lost in his thoughts.

…

“We’re ready—stop rushing us.”

After sending one more reminder, Kai sensed Keiko coming down the stairs and soon heard her slightly irritated voice, so he turned to look. Keiko wore a short white dress that revealed her long, sensual legs while fitting snugly at her slim waist and generous chest.

“You look beautiful.”

Kai couldn’t help but offer a sincere compliment as he looked at the gorgeous woman who didn’t seem a day over twenty-five. Keiko’s annoyance vanished when she heard the praise and saw the way her Kai was looking at her; a lovely smile bloomed on her lips. Reaching his side, Keiko took his arm and, leaning toward his ear, whispered in a sensual, flirtatious voice.

“I put it on just for you…”

“Kai-chan, I’ve told you hundreds of times you mustn’t rush a woman.”

At that moment, Yumiko’s slightly annoyed voice could be heard on the stairs, prompting Kai and Keiko to look up.

Coming down the stairs was Yumiko in a sensual miniskirt that fit her like a glove over her juicy backside and paired perfectly with black thigh-high stockings that reached halfway up her thighs. Along with the skirt, Yumiko wore a kind of white sweater, which, despite being a little loose, thanks to her ample chest, instead of hiding her figure, emphasized her sensual, curvy shape.

When Kai fell silent for a few moments and began to let his gaze travel over her—especially her legs and her chest—Yumiko couldn’t help smiling with pride, as if she had won a battle. But seeing the playful look Keiko was giving her, Yumiko couldn’t help blushing a little and quickening her pace to reach Kai’s side.

“Do I look bad? Should I go change?” Taking Kai’s arm, Yumiko asked with a small smile. Kai looked at the beautiful mother and replied with a smile.

“You look like a model; you don’t need to change a thing.”

“Fufu, then let’s go.” Yumiko responded, visibly pleased, and soon they all left the house and got into one of the vehicles where a driver was waiting for them.

In the back, Kai chatted casually with the pair of sexy moms while doing his best to ignore Keiko’s casual caresses on his right hand. After a while, the car stopped, and the group got out in front of an elegant building, where three men and a woman in business suits were waiting for them.

…

In a spacious, well-lit office sat Haruto, accompanied by two lawyers and a visibly frightened woman whose stomach was beginning to swell with pregnancy. Although after the message they had received at the office that day they had gotten nothing but official notifications from lawyers, Haruto had never been able to relax and felt watched all the time.

This prolonged state of stress had made him lose a great deal of weight, which not only left his face gaunt and older-looking, but even his hair had begun to fall out uncontrollably. But what enraged Haruto the most was Aiko’s condition—his pregnant wife—who wouldn’t stop begging him in tears to drop everything and run, but he couldn’t do that.

His son needed money, and he was no longer at an age to start from scratch. Therefore, taking advantage of the fact that Aiko had to sign the papers to transfer the shell company they had created to protect his assets, Haruto decided to talk about divorce with Yumiko. Although the country’s laws allowed for a quick divorce in which you never had to see your ex at any point, he still wanted to negotiate—he couldn’t allow them to take everything from him.

As he rehearsed in his mind the speech he had written to negotiate better terms with Yumiko, Haruto noticed the door opening, and four lawyers with cold, professional expressions entered the office. Soon after, a tall, broad-shouldered young man with short black hair and piercing blue eyes came in with two sensual models on his arms, both wearing large sunglasses that covered their faces.

Seeing the man he hated most in the world walk in, Haruto shot to his feet, eyes bloodshot, ready to curse him out—but no matter how hard he tried, his mouth wouldn’t open. Those disinterested blue eyes seemed to have a suppressive power over him, capable of leaving him immobile. The terror that young man inspired bordered on a severe trauma.

At that moment, Haruto felt Aiko’s fragile hands around his right hand, squeezing and tugging at him subtly. Ashamed and angered by his wife’s terror, Haruto steeled himself and, looking at the blue-eyed youth, growled, full of rage and indignation.

“What are you doing here, bastard?! The adults are going to negotiate here!”

“Shut up.” Kai looked at Haruto as if he were a piece of trash and ordered in a cold voice, without even using his Conqueror’s Haki. “You may speak only when I allow it. Do you want me to remind you?”

Although Haruto didn’t feel the almost physical pressure from last time, the young man’s icy words sent a chill down his spine. While Haruto tried to contain the slight trembling and the cold sweat soaking him, Yumiko removed her sunglasses and spoke in a cold voice, looking at Haruto with an expression full of contempt.

“Don’t play the brave now. Better shut up, and let’s get this over with.”

When he saw that the “sensual model” on the young man’s left arm was actually his wife, Haruto’s jaw practically hit the floor, and his eyes opened so wide they looked ready to pop out. Meanwhile, Aiko—who was dressed in a simple house dress—wasn’t in much better shape. Like Haruto, she didn’t recognize Yumiko until she took off the glasses.

But that was to be expected; although Yumiko had always been beautiful and blessed with an enviable figure, she now truly looked like a supermodel around twenty, at the peak of her beauty. Not only did her legs look long, firm, and perfect, but her sensual assets now seemed firmer than a young girl’s—practically defying gravity.

“Is that you, Yumiko?”

Haruto asked in a shocked, almost whispering voice. Yumiko looked at her ex-husband, full of contempt, and didn’t answer. Instead, she walked to the table, firmly holding on to her Kai—her true pillar. For her part, Aiko couldn’t help giving Haruto’s hand a slight, irritated pinch, which snapped him out of his daze, and he quickly sat down.

Once everyone was seated, Yumiko’s lead attorney opened his briefcase and took out a series of documents, then arranged them and looked at the opposing lawyers. In a cold, professional tone, he announced, looking directly at the other side’s lead attorney.

“Today we’re meeting with two main objectives: to formalize the change of legal representative of the company 'Daichi Mode' and to sign the letter of commitment for its future dissolution; and second, to sign an agreement on the division of assets before formalizing the divorce before the authorities.”

“Although there isn’t much to say about the change of legal representative, my clients want an increase in compensation; otherwise, we may be forced to seek official mediation or even take it to trial.”

Haruto’s lawyer announced as he adjusted his glasses. At that moment, Yumiko looked at Haruto like a piece of garbage and was about to speak. But then Kai gently squeezed her thigh and spoke in a calm, disinterested voice.

“There will be no renegotiations. However, I, in a personal capacity, will transfer to Ms. Aiko Tanaka three million dollars as compensation for a certain prior misunderstanding.

“In addition, if Ms. Aiko is willing to sign an agreement that, without the father’s involvement, she will allow her son to occasionally stay with Nejire, his older sister, I am willing to pay two million more. For a total of five. But this is non-negotiable—take it or leave it.”

Kai’s words provoked different reactions from the listeners in front of him. In Aiko’s case, an expression of astonishment appeared on her face as she looked at the young man because—even though she wasn’t exactly poor—five million was a fortune to her.

All the more so because she didn’t understand why he was giving it to her. She didn’t know him—in fact, it was the first time she’d ever seen him; until now, she had only heard of him from Haruto, who had nothing good to say about him.
