Chapter 78: Flora finally decides to teach
It took another hour and this time four feedings within that hour for Simon to calm down.
Simon was finally feeling tired, and not the mind-fuckery sort he had been subjected to before. No this was exhaustion that came from exertion. But he still had enough juice in the tank to be aware and about.
"So... wasn't that nice."
He was feeling slightly cheeky and poked the plant girl laying on his lap.
Flora for her part acted like a content monster girl bathing in the afterglow.
"Mhmm."
She sighed contentedly, this was extremely nice as her vines had him haphazardly wrapped around as a sort of possessive hug.
Her inner monster completely sated acting like a submissive cat girl. If anything it was her intellectual academic mind that had a problem with the current arrangement.
It took her years to develop her rapport with her students and her persona was that of a caring even if distant teacher. This event almost broke the century of hard work and dedication she put into her craft.
The only saving grace was that this event gave her an inkling of what was going on.
She languidly looked up at the Pandora's Box as she asked.
"Now that we have our payment out of the way. Ready for a lesson?"
She was greeted with a loud yawn as Simon answered.
"Sure. Why not?"
"Excellent!"
She hopped off him with surprising grace given how she acted moments ago. Her vines, however, were much more hesitant to unwrap themselves from him.
Even so, two of her vines carried the books she had on her to an easy-to-read position as she create a sizeable distance from the boy.
"Do you have a pen and paper?"
Simon slowly scratched his head as he asked.
"Why?"
Flora raised an eyebrow.
"Do you not need to write notes?"
"Not really, when I try to focus I tend to remember everything I need to."
Ok. So he was either a long-lived species, ageless, or a psychic variant. Those three were the prime categories for good memory.
Flora mentally jotted it all down.
He had secrets, extremely powerful ones, and before she bonded him(something she assumed to be a foregone conclusion given his actions) she would secretly catalog everything she could so that when the time came she could intervene on his behalf.
An unbidden smile came to her lips at the thought of finally getting a Tamer for herself. Statistically, it should have been impossible, that was the whole reason she taught at this establishment.
Despite being in effect a tier 5, she needed someone with the capacity to bond to a tier 7 to even begin the bonding process. But the joy of binding a Tamer was the sweetest honey to any monster girl and she was no exception. Especially given how long she went without.
Her academic training finally kicked in as she realized she had been quiet for a second too long and making very inappropriate faces.
To hide her wandering thoughts she announced.
"That... is rather amazing! Alright, I will allow no written works for now. But if you ever feel troubled to remember anything please come to me."
"Now! Let's start!"
Simon answered with a rather energetic nod and his body started to look a lot more energized.
This could be nothing as all ascended had much greater vitality than normal even compared to the blessed, but she still clipped his rapid regeneration in her mind.
"I will assume you know nothing as is tradition. So, first, you need to know some very important rules. No matter how docile a monster girl is or looks remember! She is still a being capable of tearing you to pieces and has the hunger to match. Put your and your fellow Tamer's safety above everything else. Even if it means you lose a partially bonded monster girl or a monster gemmed monster girl. They are, to put it harshly, a financial and time loss. Being caught by a monster girl in the mystic zones is death if you are lucky."
Simon raised his hands immediately as she finished.
"Yes?"
"What is a mystic zone?"
"Any location not sanctified by the church is a mystic zone."
It was still raised.
"What is the church? And does sanctified mean in this context?"
Flora's stomach dropped as an idea formed in her head.
The lack of common knowledge being added to his list painted a very dangerous picture if her hunch was true.
A young man who was an ascended, both his bonds were epic monsters. He had little to no control over his powers, there was a seal on him to suppress said powers. And to top it all off he had very little common knowledge and acted like everything was new and exciting.
...He was a noblewoman's experiment, Flora was almost certain of it.
Outwardly she still acted like everything was fine. She asked.
"Before I answer. May I ask a question of my own?"
"Sure."
"Before coming here did you have any friends?"
Simon raised an eyebrow but he answered well enough.
"Not really. Not unless you counted those who raised me. I was not allowed to go out."
"No wonder! Alright, Simon! I have another suggestion."
"Yes?"
"I assume you are finding it difficult to understand many of the colloquial terms most of us take for granted. Why don't I set up basic private tutoring to catch you up? Given what you said, it should not take long!"
His eyes widened.
"You would do that?"
"Of course! That is what teachers are for!"
If not to guide their students, even from threats they do not see or understand. Flora needed to ingrain herself in this one's life. Bonding her was going to take a while and she needed to make sure it happened.
All the while, prepare him for the catastrophe heading his way. Because if he was as she thought... he needed a guardian and desperately.
And who better than a centuries-old tree who had a very personal stake in seeing him live his best life?
