Chapter 52: Second meet with Daniel
Time flew by when you were having fun or when you were lost in thought.
Stella's happy-go-lucky nature and unwittingly deep questions made Simon go through an amalgamation of both, so it passed doubly as fast for him. He arrived at the training yard after an hour or so of a casual stroll but it felt much shorter.
Soon he was in front of the archways that led into the training yard. Eight extremely human looking figures were standing as still as stone keeping guard of the space.
They had no extra bits that made him associate with any kind of monster girl except for the cold dead look on their very pretty face. Simon's instincts screamed at him to run the fuck away, these things felt leagues more threatening than the advisor and Michael.
Amy too understood as she started growling at the figures standing as still as stone. Stella only tilted her head in confusion as unlike the other two her sense of danger had been carefully bred out of her. She was looking at the apprehension of both innately aware of the distress of her master and Amy was not hiding her hostility.
"What's wrong?"
She looked from monster girl to tamer in confusion as they both locked eyes on the still figures in front of the entrance.
"Simon! What are you doing here?!"
Simon could not immediately reply as he felt paralyzed by indecision, run away, or stand his ground.
But when the voice announce his name a second time he was forced to shift his attention to the tamer calling him out.
"Simon! I knew it was you!"
It was Daniel, the first friend he ever made, calling out his name as he jovially approached his group, his monster girls nowhere to be seen. Probably in their equipment form.
"What are you doing here?"
"I was told to try my hand at combat. To get a feel for it."
"Ok... So why are you standing here staring at the Titans? I mean sure, everybody gets a little star-struck the first time they see a legendary monster girl but you are acting like they want to dock all your school merit."
"Legendary monster girl?"
Another new term for Simon. His focus was now more on the new information he was about to obtain rather than the apprehension.
"You don't know of the strongest variant of monster girl to exist? Well... that isn't true, but the other two stronger types are evolutions of the legendary."
asked putting on extra information which did nothing but make Simon even more curious. As this part of him grew the scared animal part of was slowly started to die down.
"No."
Daniel's eyes widened as he looked at Simon like he was from another planet.
"Shit! You must really be from the boonies!"
Immediately after saying it the gaunt boy realized that he was being incredibly rude. He stuck his tongue out between his teeth and backpedaled.
"Sorry! Not what I was trying to say!"
"Why are you apologizing?"
Simon's values were wildly different from the average person's due to the circumstances surrounding his upbringing so he did not understand the need to apologize for something that was for intents and purposes, a fact.
Daniel looked even more apologetic at his words.
"Shit... That just makes it worse..."
This was getting nowhere so Simon put it on himself to push the conversation back to the part he was interested in.
"Can you tell me about legendary monster girls?"
Seeing an out Daniel took it as he vigorously nodded his head as he took a long breath to start his long-winded explanation.
"You see, epic monsters are monsters that have a powerful unique ability that separates them from their kind. Legendary monsters are a step above and they are a unique variant, meaning they can be reproduced, of monster girls that have an absurdly powerful ability or collection of abilities. These are even above epic as legendary abilities can often only be countered by women or other legendary monsters."
He then pointed out to the Titans as he continued.
"Those titans that are standing guard right over there are the most common legendary monsters used, purely because they are a variant of golems who are some of the most docile and obedient monsters around. That does not mean that they are weak. They have two abilities working in tandem to give them their legendary status, 'immutable vessel' which makes them immune to all damage and effects outside of the bond or abilities that negate that immunity. The second is 'unstoppable giant' which massively boosts their physical prowess and if they are ever in combat with another being with greater physical strength theirs are immediately boosted to match."
Simon was learning something new every hour since he came to this school and the last remnants of concern dissipated as he understood why the guards felt so hostile, they were watching out for trouble.
Amy was violently shaking her head as if she was on set with a massive headache but one pat from him and she calmed down and pushed her head into his palm begging for more.
Stella looked at that with barely hidden desire as she said.
"Master... can I also get head pats?"
The gaunt boy finally seemed to notice the other monster girl in his group.
"What's with the cat maid?"
The question felt a bit derisive to Simon but he answered with good humor.
"Oh! She is my second tame."
Daniel raised an eyebrow.
"You want your second tame to be a cat maid?"
There was that judgmental tone again, but Simon's mind was already in too many places to give it much thought. He answered honestly.
"No. She is already my second tame."
His first friend seemed terribly confused now.
"Wait... I thought you had only one tamer?"
"Yes. I met and tamed Stella just last night after we parted ways."
Simon's eyes were locked on to the still guards, this time with curiosity and a hint of desire. This conversation was becoming an afterthought at this point. But he was brought back when he heard the very loud shout.
"WHAT?!???!?"
