Chapter 51:A stroll
After that exchange, Simon felt very exhausted, and the day had just begun.
The only saving grace, he got a professor out of the whole engagement who wanted to tutor him personally. That, and Amy was being particularly playful after that.
Stella was still being her 'everything is so new and amazing' as her eyes darted every which direction.
Now, his new 'advisor' suggested that he do one of two things, go home and take the rest of the day off, or go to the training yard and figure out the capabilities of his monster girls. There were a lot more bells and whistles but that boiled down to.
While spending the rest of the day in bed was a good option, he spent the vast majority of his life indoors. Spending some time outside sounded much better.
So now his goal was this training yard, and the first thing he needed to do was find out how to get there.
Thankfully, there was always the handy dandy 'Psychic Guide' who showed him the way. Not that he needed to, the thing was very easy to spot once he knew what he was looking for.
Like everything else in this place, they had gone for the spectacle approach in their architecture. It was a massive elliptical structure that he could see from anywhere in the entire grounds. Row after row of solid stone full of murals supported by column after column of pillars each with one unique design or another.
On top was an army of statues similar to the ones he had seen when he first entered this massive place.
It was so massive that Simon misjudged just how far he was and it was taking him much longer than he initially thought.
But it was not all bad, as Stella took center stage of his attention, while he kept his eyes on the prize Stella was exploring every bit of ground they covered with great interest. As if everything was new and exciting.
She was so engrossed in everything that he could not help but ask.
"What's gotten you so excited?"
"Hmm? Oh! I have never been outside a house before so everything is fun and exciting! Like I counted 231 unique people over the last 30 minutes. That is more than the rest of my life combined and I have been alive for over half a decade now! Then then! There is all this fancy stuff like food being sold right next to the street! Like, look! That dog lady is skewering right in front of all those tamers and they are eating it with no problems at all!"
Her tail was twitching rapidly which was somehow in sync with her scatterbrained energy.
*These are just some random street vendors. Nothing to get so excited about.* Simon was too about to say.
"I mean they are nothing much, just some vendors.... huh."
He stopped halfway through his sentence as he stopped and thought about it.
This was his third day outside of his own home and everything around him was new. Though he read about an idea about some, most of it he had never seen before.
So why did he not have the urge to run wild and explore?
In fact, on his first day out, that was the only thing he could think about doing.
So what happened between now and then that shifted his worldview so drastically?
"Ma-ste-r?"
A cat girl was inches from his face, her large red eyes blinking at him to get his attention.
Simon shook his head and got his head back on straight.
The thoughts remained and he had the perfect person to ask this question. But they were shoved to the back of his head as he focused back on the now.
"You know what? Why don't we go and have a look?"
"Really!"
"Yes really!"
*Arf!*
"Yes Amy, you are part of the conversation too."
Stella suddenly hopped away from him with an expression as if she just had a massive revelation.
"Master! I have been meaning to ask but why doesn't sis take her human form more often? I mean I have seen her more in her animal form than her human form! Heck! Why are we in physical forms at all and not in gear form? Is this not taxing to you?"
Those were a massive rush of questions and the answer.
"I have never really thought about it. Amy was never a bother. Isn't that right?"
He started heavily patting Amy's doggy head and her tail furiously wagged in answer.
His statement was the honest truth, when Amy entered his life he did not know what he was doing and had no dad, soft mom, or mom-mom so he let the monster girl lead. While it had been a shift, Simon did not regret allowing Amy to decide what she wanted. She was obedient and very perceptive to his wishes so letting her do her thing was more than fine in his opinion.
"Really?! But... am I a bother?"
Stella was surprised and followed it up with apprehension.
"Of course not! I let you feed on me all night remember? Do I look exhausted to you?"
"Yes! You look very mentally drained! Also! I thought that was a dream! Did you feed me all night!?"
Simon chuckled at her honest reply. He mirthfully shook his head as he said.
"I meant physically. And yes, I fed you for a long time last night, maybe not all night but it would not have mattered. You drain less than I naturally regenerate, in theory, I can feed indefinitely."
"Wow! This is so cool! I have been taught about tamers on the very small chance I ever got bonded! So you can believe me when I say! I got the best master ever!"
Simon understood why he could not control the urge to tame this monster girl yesterday. Her energy was ointment for his soul and he felt more energized every minute. His soul needed this and so he probably went berserk trying to get it.
Well, he was very glad it worked out.
