Chapter 104: Too loveable to be angry at
"Stop this!"
Simon yelled, a primal part of him reacting to the instability among his possessions. It reflected in his voice which reverberated.
He did not mean like a growl, there was a literal reverberation in his voice which seemed to cause it menacingly echo as if he was speaking from everywhere all at once.
He looked at Amy who looked visibly chastened as her tail was tucked between her legs and her ears flattened on her head. Stella who was feeding and purring pleasantly on his lap stopped both actions at once.
However, the person he had directed most of his ire at seemed to be least affected, all she did in response was look apologetic.
"I am truly sorry master. I have erred." She said as she lowered her head in supplication, her voice submissive with a hint of hurt.
That last tiny bit was very important.
Almost immediately the rage that had building rapidly started to dissipate.
Simon remembered a very important titbit he had forgotten in the heat of the moment.
Whatever the reason for Flora's harshness towards Amy, Simon could guarantee it was for his benefit.
Would he ever be for actions like this?
Never.
But he owed it to Flora to hear out why she took such a harsh stance on Amy.
Speaking of which.
"Amy come here." His voice sounded human this time which meant his powers were not currently the ones in control.
The fact that Stella started feeding again was another indicator he supposed, but it was still very tentative and her powerful purring was still not back yet.
Amy like a dispirited puppy whimpered to his side which only broke his heart further.
Fuck... He did not know what reasons Flora could have but no explanation could be worth the devastated look that marred the face of his happy go lucky puppy. And she had just covered from the trauma of the 'near death' experience.
Judging by the wilting of the flower petals, he believed that even the plant girl was feeling down.
...Damn it...
He was also angry and hurt. He needed to vent!
But putting any aggression on the plant girl right now felt just as bad as the hurt on his beloved wolf girl. Flora might try to act stoic but Simon was very quick to pick up on her tells which were not hard to notice, given that the flowers on her hair seemed to mirror her mood and the monster girl in question seemed to have little awareness of this fact.
"Flora come here." He said patting the spot on the left of where he sat, the right had a whimpering dog girl who was getting pets to calm her down. On his lap was cat girl who just returned to her normal feeding patterns. That only left his left as the empty spot she could claim as her own.
Flora sat next to him with grace and precision, and to an outside observer, she looked fine. Simon knew that was not true.
"Can you tell me the reason for all of this later? Explain it in detail, please. I promise I won't be mad." He spoke softly.
The slight relaxing of her shoulders served as further evidence that his anger did affect the matronly plant girl.
"I understand." That was all she said as she looked on in the distance with a very completive look.
Simon did not say anything further, his right arm was currently busy with petting Amy whose demeanor was slowly turning from sad to horny. But given that being horny and lazy was her default state, it was a step in the right direction.
For Flora, all he did was keep his hand over hers. And like the shattering of a magic barrier, her stoic façade broke as he heard a hitch in her breathing. Given how pragmatic Flora tended to be, Simon forgot that like the rest of his bonds, she was very sensitive to his emotions. She was just very good at hiding her emotions.
Her powers were not so stoic as he felt her vines and roots slowly encasing his arm, it was as if her powers themselves were pleading for acceptance and forgiveness.
"I am not mad at you." He said.
In response, Flora put her head in the crook of his neck.
"I know." She said, but Simon could feel the broken relief in that statement. A desire for acceptance so powerful that it dwarfed anything and everything he had felt up to this point.
Simon wondered how Tamers were ever able to make any callous decisions when they were surrounded by so much love and devotion. He knew why, he was not as naive as he was even a couple of months ago. But there was still a disconnect between his heart and mind. One he was frankly happy existed.
