Chapter 99:Boss room
Every fight after that seemed to get progressively harder, even if at minute levels. Funnily enough, his team similarly got progressively more efficient. To a point where as long as he fed them every couple of fights(something every single one of his monster girls enjoyed quite a bit) he kept himself ahead of the competition.
At this point, it had become rather boring. Even when the dungeon tried to vary the enemy types it was too little effect. When anything became a bit too difficult Simon would transform into a more bestial state. And as it turned out, his bestial form was actually a couple of degrees stronger than anything this dungeon had to offer.
Another thing Simon figured out, in a sort of trial-by-fire way was that he could now predict when his changes would occur and to a much lesser extent, control it. Well, that was not all that true. No, it was more like he was more 'aware' that his demeanor had shifted and realized that he was not making normal decisions.
It was both horrifying and fascinating. He hoped that over time he would get more used to it and gain more control over that form because something about fighting monster girls had his blood pumping. Or was that the other form talking? At this point, he could not be sure.
Simon sighed as Bitsy abruptly came to a halt. The shake was not strong enough to phase him especially as he had gotten used to it. But it meant there was some kind of change in the environment.
He hoped it was another treasure chest, Simon felt confident enough that he could take on a trapped treasure chest now that he had so many fights under his belt.
The loot he would get made his mouth water.
Something he realized he liked a lot and wondered if it was only him because it was never mentioned anywhere was the fact he was very drawn to the loot monster girls and monsters dropped. It did not matter if it had any use or was absolutely worthless, his eyes would always twinkle in excitement after every fight, collecting the dropped items and throwing them into his glove which had the ability to suck all of it in. The feeling of getting something new and shiny was very very addictive.
What he saw was not a treasure room but something just as great. It was a giant arched double door that was so over-crafted that only one word came to his mind.
"This is the boss room." He said to himself.
A mini-boss room to be more exact since this was a tier 2 dungeon and had ten total floors. Which meant he was on floor five. Simon raised an eyebrow at that. The last dungeon he had entered was very obvious about ascending floors. In this one, there was not even a staircase.
The only reason he knew he had been ascending floors at all was the guidebook and the obligatory safe room at the beginning of every floor which in this dungeon's case was a just square room. The monotony of everything actually made him lose count of floors and proceed on as though they were in one continuous mesh instead of the sectioned approach. Besides the short break every now and then to feed(more often than not in an 'unsafe' spot) Simon had not stopped at all for anything.
Now he was at the mini-boss which he guessed was a good thing. It signaled that he was about halfway done through this dungeon, in length if not difficulty. He secretly hoped that the boss would be a step up in the challenge aspect.
"Let's go in."
He said smoothly and Bitsy followed the command moving to the door at a sedate pace. A part of him wondered how in the world were they going to open the massive thing but expected the dungeon to have some sort of magic to solve the issue.
Sure enough, the moment Bitsy touched the door there was a sense of delirium which caused him to blink. The moment he opened his eyes again he was no longer in front of the door. Instead, he was inside a massive stone room with a raised platform in the middle.
Something in his mind triggered and all his senses exploded warning him of danger as he lay his eyes on who stood on the stone platform.
It was not a monster like he was expecting. It was a Tamer, something in him made him assured that one of the two figures standing on the platform was a tamer.
The other... looked at his group with cold dead eyes that sent shivers down his spine.
Everything in him told him to run.
Which only confused him.
Why would he be scared of a tamer and his monster girl?
So instead he stupidly asked.
"Hello?"
What happened next was so fast that Simon could not react.
When he came to, he had a hand wrapped around his neck while he was lifted in the air...
Bitsy... Purr... Stone... They were all dead.
