Volume 7 – Chapter 17 – Part 3 – The Fist & Fang Unleashed

Third Person Point of View

— ○ ● ○ —

Once all the teams had reached their designated positions on Ferrothos Prime, Eliovan gently tapped the transceiver nestled on his ear. [Aaron has temporarily disabled the electric barrier, but there are several backup generators here, and it'll be back online in a few moments.]

As his words echoed, the electric field crackled back to life. [There it is, as you can see. Realistically, I can only envision him getting to Zenosius. But for the rest of us to reach that point, we'll need to take down six generators and navigate the defenses in place. Each of you has been briefed on how this place operates, so remember it and tread lightly.]

[You heard him! Good luck!] exclaimed Sairaorg, and a chorus of groans resonated through the transceiver. [Fuhahaha! My apologies!]

As the echoes of his laughter faded, the surroundings transformed. Hundreds of large purple and blue mechanical hands and appendages materialized, creating a surreal spectacle that enveloped them. The unexpected display prompted everyone to tense up, readying themselves for whatever lay ahead.

"He's already aware that we're here, and so are his six subordinates. Let's move," urged Eliovan, his voice steady and determined, cutting through the tension like a blade through the air.

Without a moment's hesitation, every member of Sairaorg's team disappeared, and the metallic limbs surged into action. Some discharged laser beams from their ocular sensors, while others attempted to ensnare their targets, or simply crashed onto the ground with force.

Eliovan's urgent command cut through the chaos, [Three on the west side, eight on the east side, and five each on the north and south! In the next thirty seconds, neutralize them to clear our path through the gate on the north side!]

In response to the relentless assault of laser fire from the mechanical appendages, Kuisha swiftly activated her unique [Holes] ability. With precision, she absorbed the deadly energy beams before redirecting them toward the very appendages that unleashed them, effectively destroying several of them.

Even in her triumph, a flicker of surprise crossed Kuisha's expression, hidden behind the intensity of the skirmish. In her thoughts, she mused, 'These attacks pack a punch. The technology here is no joke. Ajuka-sama and Azazel-san would surely relish the opportunity to tinker with these things.'

In the expansive distance, Sairaorg and Regulus soared into the sky, their figures merging with the heavens. Draping themselves in touki, they unleashed a barrage of aura-infused punches, each blow obliterating mechanical monstrosities below.

A distinct robot, reminiscent of a scorpion, emerged on the scene. It unleashed a volley of miniature laser attacks resembling needles directed at Sairaorg. With a focused breath, Sairaorg heightened his touki, cocooning it around his chest, arms, and hands.

In a seamless motion, he exhaled, "1st Stage: Fist of the Black Turtle!" The utterance was accompanied by a seismic shockwave erupting from his fist, a force that obliterated everything in its path.

The impact reverberated not only on the battlefield but also resonated in the vastness of space, disrupting several electrical lines of the barrier temporarily. The aftermath of Sairaorg's powerful strike left a trail of destruction, marking a momentary triumph against the relentless onslaught of the mechanical enemies.

Regulus darted with lightning speed, swiftly destroying those who had managed to dodge his master's initial attack. Once the enemies were vanquished, they redirected their attention to a particular spot strewn with substantial debris. Abruptly, the area erupted with force.

Emerging from the chaos was a humanoid robot, its metallic form tinged with an mysterious purple mist, reminiscent of the Milky Way suspended around its body. Sairaorg and Regulus exchanged perplexed glances, understanding that confronting this mechanized enigma was their next challenge.

[This is Regulus. I believe we've encountered one of Zenosius' subordinates. We're undoubtedly facing one of their abilities. The purple mist is a key indicator, right?] Regulus reported, his voice holding a blend of confusion and determination.

[Yes, that's one of the indicators. Remember, maintain distance and target the head and core. Otherwise, it will persist in reconstructing itself,] Eliovan's instructions resonated through their communication devices, emphasizing the critical strategy needed to subdue this unconventional enemy.

"Keeping a distance? Does he realize we're more about fists than anything else? Although, we can unleash shockwave attacks," Sairaorg muttered.

"Sairaorg-sama, you've also delved into magic. It's not out of the question for you now," Regulus corrected.

"Ah, true, I did pick that up, didn't I?" he replied, a chuckle escaping him. Sairaorg grinned and extended his right hand, summoning a magic circle. With a swift motion, he launched an enormous fireball toward the humanoid robot.

The mist swiftly enveloped the robot, forming a makeshift shield in a desperate attempt at defense. However, the mist succumbed to the intense heat, and the robot found itself engulfed in flames. Sairaorg, undeterred, continued his assault, launching additional fireballs until the robot lay defeated.

With a satisfied expression, Sairaorg closed his hand and remarked, "That's enough. I don't need intricate spells, as long as my output packs a punch."

During their recent visit to Aaron's Training Facility, Sairaorg took the opportunity to inquire about learning magic. He approached various individuals seeking knowledge in this art. Eventually, he acquired a grasp of very basic magic. Surprisingly, it proved not too challenging, operating as an independent force that didn't rely on other forms of energy. This meant that devils like Sairaorg, lacking demonic power, could still harness the magical abilities commonly used by humans.

Eager to put his newfound skills to the test, Sairaorg turned to his partner, suggesting, "Let's hunt him down." Regulus, his companion, readily agreed. [This is Sairaorg; we're going to track down this particular subordinate—Therever.]

Acknowledging the mission, Eliovan's voice crackled over the communication device, cautioning, [Roger that. Be careful, as he uses powers almost akin to Zenosius.]

As the conversation drew to a close, additional humanoid robots emerged, each enveloped in a distinctive purple mist—an ominous sign that their enemy lurked nearby. Recognizing the imminent threat, Sairaorg and Regulus wasted no time. They surged forward with determined speed, effortlessly dispatching and obliterating the newly risen robotic foes in their path.

Not long after, they arrived at a distinctive area adorned with transparent, floating rings. Amidst this surreal setting stood a humanoid creature, an amalgamation of striking features: spikes protruding from its head, a mechanical chin, pink luminescent eyes, an exposed chest, and the rest of its form crafted from intricate mechanical parts.

Sairaorg, sensing a threat, enveloped his body in touki, a palpable aura of purple surrounding him. "Are you the one responsible for those things?" he questioned, his voice steady and resolute.

"Kufufu, yes, I am. I am none other than Therever! You seem unfamiliar with my name... I see, so it's begun, has it? Invaders from another universe!" Therever declared, pointing his mechanical hand menacingly at Sairaorg.

"Hmm, I am, but there is nothing else to talk about. I will defeat you here," Sairaorg stated with unwavering conviction. In an instant, he vanished, reappearing with a swift touki-infused punch aimed straight at Therever's face. The impact sent the mechanical enemy hurtling violently backward.

A purple mist began to envelop the surroundings, prompting both Sairaorg and Regulus to swiftly ascend the nearby buildings. Regulus, breaking the silence, conveyed the dangers associated with the mist.

"Eliovan mentioned that Therever's purple mist induces a deep slumber, submerging you in a world where your deepest desires play out. Simultaneously, minuscule metallic fragments within the mist act as silent assassins, causing internal harm leading to death," Regulus explained.

Sairaorg, acknowledging the gravity of the situation, responded, "That's why we must maintain a safe distance, though the risk persists if we stray too close as we may breath it in." His gaze met Regulus', and a thought crossed his mind. "Let's try that tactic then. We've used it before the mission, and Eliovan suggested it might work, but he wasn't too sure."

"As you wish!" exclaimed Regulus, transforming into a radiant gold light and entered Sairaorg. In tandem, Sairaorg activated his Balance Breaker, enveloping his form in a dense yet nearly invisible shroud of touki.

Having finally propelled themselves away, they traced the path where Therever had crashed. There, they discovered the mechanical man, holding a violin crafted from gears and bolts. The discordant melody he produced filled the air, a dissonant echo of mechanical disarray. Sensing the approaching figures above, he twisted his mouth into a grin.

"Oh? What might this be? Armor? It's certainly... unique. I can feel the other one from earlier within it. Quite intriguing. I'd like to study it in a more controlled environment. Would you be willing to part with it?" Therever inquired with an air of calm.

"I will have to decline!" bellowed Sairaorg, vehement in his refusal. With that declaration, he closed the distance between them, unleashing a forceful punch. However, this time, Therever countered by manipulating the environment, attracting hundreds of metallic debris and swiftly forming a shield, shrouded in the ominous purple mist.

To Therever's surprise, his attempt to envelop Sairaorg in the distinctive purple mist proved ineffective, leaving him momentarily bewildered. Seizing this opportunity, Sairaorg wasted no time.

With a swift and unexpected motion, he unleashed a point-blank attack, summoning a majestic golden lion sculpted from touki that erupted forcefully from his clenched fist, sending a powerful shockwave through his enemy and blasting him away.

Undeterred, Sairaorg pressed on, pursuing Therever relentlessly. He appeared above his foe, his feet connecting with a resounding impact to Therever's chest, sending him sprawling to the ground.

As Sairaorg touched down, surveying the aftermath, he witnessed the damage inflicted— a hole torn through Therever's chest. However, the astonishment intensified as the torn metal and shattered bolts miraculously began to mend, the wounds closing in a rapid dance of reconstruction.

A sly smile crept across Therever's face, and he uttered, "Can you see it now? Even without Zenosius' assistance, I thrive in this environment. It bends to my advantage. What will be your next move?"

Sairaorg fixed his gaze on Therever, observing as the enigmatic smile on the latter's face continued to expand. In that moment, a recollection of Aaron's words, spoken before the mission commenced, surfaced in Sairaorg's mind.

'It would be ideal to capture them, but... we don't necessarily need to. If you can't see a way of defeating them without killing them, then do it. I can get the information we need without them being alive.'

A heavy sigh escaped Sairaorg's lips as he contemplated those words. "I wish I could have brought one back, but I don't think that's happening."

"Fufu, what are you talk—"

Therever's words were abruptly cut off as he found himself violently hurled away. The majority of his mechanical body lay in ruins, leaving him in a state of bewildered shock. As his eyes scanned the surroundings during the involuntary descent, the expansive view revealed most of the planet below, intensifying his astonishment.

"Eh? W-what happened?" Therever questioned himself, confusion etched across his face. Suddenly, Sairaorg materialized beneath him.

"It may have been brief, Therever-dono, but this is where we part ways," Sairaorg calmly declared before hurling something toward Therever, and it swiftly attached itself to him.

"Ugh?!" Therever cried out as an icy sensation enveloped him. "W-what did you do!?" he shouted at Sairaorg, but the stoic warrior offered no response.

Aaron Toole, in preparation for the mission, provided each participant with a unique item. This item not only temporarily sealed their opponents' abilities but also induced a freezing effect upon their bodies. Its use required strategic precision, as reckless deployment would render it easily avoidable. Sairaorg Bael, however, identified the opportune moment and seized it.

"I can spare you if you surrender," Sairaorg proposed.

"You won't get anything from me, otherworlder," Therever snapped. "I am loyal to Zenosius and Lady Phumera to the end!" His defiant words echoed in the frozen moment, a testament to his unwavering allegiance.

Sairaorg released a weary sigh, and from his frame burst forth another surge of a golden aura, enveloping him in a radiant glow. He drew back his arm, directing his focus at Therever.

The luminous energy surrounding Sairaorg coalesced into a colossal, majestic golden lion. After a pregnant pause, he unleashed his powerful attack, hurtling his fist towards Therever.

As Sairaorg's attack hurtled towards Therever, a reel of memories flickered before his eyes. Like countless others, Therever had once led an ordinary life on his home planet, a semblance of normalcy shattered when Phumera and her burgeoning organization seized control.

In the face of minimal resistance, the leaders of his world capitulated, aligning themselves with Phumera's expanding forces. They became an integral part of her armies, forever altering the course of Therever's existence.

At the tender age of eight, Therever embarked on a journey to master strength, and it soon became evident that he possessed an innate genius. This natural brilliance propelled his rapid ascent, each step fostering newfound power.

A unique ability surfaced—his command over most metals in the universe, attracting and repelling them at will. Alongside this, Therever discovered another extraordinary gift: the capacity to generate a mesmerizing purple mist. This mist had a potent effect, inducing deep sleep in those exposed, weaving dreams of the lives they longed to lead.

Yet, the idyllic trajectory of Therever's life took an unexpected turn at the age of thirteen. Within Phumera's organization, dissent brewed among certain individuals who resented his meteoric rise through the ranks.

Fueled by jealousy and disdain, a sinister plot was hatched to eliminate him. The idea of someone younger holding such formidable power irked them, and the swiftness with which he outpaced them in authority fueled their animosity.

On a fateful day, they ensnared Therever, boldly confronting him with a stark choice: decelerate his ascent or face dire consequences. By then, Therever, swayed by a hint of arrogance, defiantly refused.

A chaotic battle unfolded, culminating in his triumph over his assailants. However, victory came at a staggering cost—both his arms were severed, leaving him severely injured and vulnerable.

In the aftermath of the brutal confrontation, Therever experienced a profound awakening of his latent powers. The scattered remnants of metal and bolts surrounding him mysteriously began to merge with his body. Simultaneously, his signature purple mist intertwined with the metallic fragments, unveiling a startling revelation.

Astonishingly, he found himself capable of reconstructing metallic limbs, a newfound ability that sent shivers of disbelief through him. The very mist that once lulled others into dreams of their desires now merged seamlessly with the metallic elements, allowing Therever to forge a resilient, adaptive form from the remnants of battle.

Following that pivotal day, Therever's strength swelled, and fate led him to cross paths with Zenosius. The similarity in their abilities forged a connection, drawing Therever into the formidable orbit of Zenosius' influence. However, amid this alliance, a haunting realization emerged...

Regrets cast shadows on Therever's journey, and one lament weighed heavily on him—he had neglected his family in his relentless pursuit of strength. Though his parents endured the passage of time, the bridge to communication remained a fragile thread, strained by Therever's consistent disregard for their attempts to reach him.

In a moment of reflection, amidst the clash of forces, Therever's subdued murmur hung in the charged air, "...I guess, this path was...the wrong one." The admission, tinged with regret, lingered briefly before Sairaorg's attack landed. Unlike explosive impact, the force propelled Therever beyond the confines of the battlefield, into the vast expanse of space.

This trajectory meant a collision with the electric barrier encircling the planet. Hurtling through the crackling energy field, Therever faced an immediate, electrifying demise. The barrier, a creation of Zenosius, spared not even its subordinates, delivering a swift and fatal verdict to Therever.

As Sairaorg touched down on the ground, Eliovan's voice resonated in his ears, cutting through the echoes of the battlefield. [Good work! One of the barriers leading to the tower, where Zenosius resides, has crumbled. Just five subordinates remain. If you're curious about the breach, Therever is directly linked to one of those generators. The others, however, are not. Your task is clear—defeat that subordinate and destroy the generator.]

"I see. Our duty here is done. Let's join forces with the others, Regulus," Sairaorg declared, his voice carrying a calm determination.

"Yes, master!" responded Regulus, his enthusiasm evident in the prompt and resolute reply. The duo, now aware of their next objective, moved in unison to assist their comrades in overcoming the remaining challenges.

— ○ ● ○ —

Amid the chaotic skirmishes unfolding across the planet, Lavinia, previously in the company of Aaron, took a decisive action. She wielded her power to shroud the entire expanse in a powerful blizzard and ice, a manifestation of her previous Balance Breaker, now seamlessly integrated into her regular abilities.

This wintry onslaught bore a unique feature—it possessed the uncanny ability to discern friend from foe. Its icy embrace bestowed an advantage solely upon Lavinia's allies, leaving their enemies to contend with the biting cold.

Across the planet, the mechanical appendages, once a frenzied dance of destruction, now succumbed to the encroaching frost. Their movements slowed, some grinding to a complete halt as the pervasive chill seized control.

In the midst of this frigid tempest, Aaron addressed the group, his words slicing through the howling winds. "I'm forging ahead, so—"

Before he could conclude, a surprising declaration echoed through the frosty air. "I'm coming with you!" It was Danu, a determination gleaming in her eyes, catching everyone off guard.

Aaron, momentarily taken aback, extended his hand towards Danu. Without hesitation, she leaped towards him, their hands meeting in a seamless connection. In an instant, the duo vanished, leaving behind the frozen battleground and the subdued mechanical foes.

"What was that about?" Velgrynd inquired, a furrow forming on her brow as she struggled to comprehend Danu's unexpected actions.

"Danu likely has her reasons. Let's not delve too deeply into it. Our focus should be on eliminating the remaining barriers obstructing our path to Zenosius' tower," Suzaku responded, steering the conversation away from the enigma of Danu's motives.

Velgrynd, though still puzzled, offered a nonchalant shrug before turning her attention to dispatching more enemies surrounding them. "Wait, wouldn't Lavinia's snow and ice make this easier? Why not hunt down the rest?" she suggested, considering an alternative approach.

"The others are closer, so we'll leave that task to them. Besides, I sense one of them is in close proximity," Suzaku explained, prompting Velgrynd to glance to the west and nod in acknowledgment.

"That seems to be the case, and it looks like they're advancing toward us at quite a pace," Velgrynd observed, her voice tinged with a note of urgency as the realization of the approaching threat settled in.

Suddenly, a resounding crash echoed in their vicinity, drawing the attention of the Fated Ones and Aoife toward the disturbance.

Emerging from the wreckage, a woman adorned in futuristic armor rose to her feet. The metallic ensemble gleamed in a brilliant blue hue, complementing the cascade of long, curly green hair that framed her face. A visor concealed her features, but as she lifted it, revealing striking green eyes and a slightly darker skin tone, her formidable presence became apparent.

Reacting swiftly, Lavinia wasted no time. With a swift motion, she conjured a colossal icicle and hurled it towards the armored woman. However, in a seamless response, the woman reinstated her visor and unleashed a beam of intense, powerful energy. The two forces clashed, resulting in a spectacular explosion that sent shockwaves through the surroundings.

Caught off guard, Lavinia observed the aftermath, her curiosity piqued. In a quick attempt to gather information, she utilized her ring's [Appraisal] to scrutinize the mysterious woman who had just emerged onto the scene.

"She's Luverare, possessing the same raw power as combat-oriented god-class beings in our universe. Her ability? Launching lasers from every inch of her body, capable of disintegrating stars. Be cautious, and whatever you do, avoid getting hit," Lavinia cautioned. "It appears she restrained her attack during our previous clash."

"Destroying stars? Now that's intriguing. But can she annihilate entire universes?" Velgrynd inquired, a sly smile playing on her lips. Before any further speculation, Luverare, with no hesitation, unleashed a relentless barrage of lasers toward the group of women.

Velgrynd nonchalantly deployed her [Dragon Spirit Haki], forming an impervious shield that thwarted the incoming attacks. The ease with which she repelled the deadly lasers surprised Luverare.

Undeterred, Luverare amplified her power output, attempting to overwhelm Velgrynd's defenses. To Luverare's astonishment, Velgrynd not only maintained her Haki but increased its potency, pushing back Luverare attacks and compelling her to retreat.

"Hmph, what—" Velgrynd began, only to be interrupted as Aoife unexpectedly enveloped her in a tight embrace from behind.

"Take that! That's the power of a True Dragon being casual!" Aoife exclaimed, sticking her tongue out in a playful taunt, further aggravating Luverare.

Laughter rippled through the group, each member sharing in the amusement prompted by Aoife's spirited antics. Even Velgrynd, though visibly troubled, made no move to dislodge the exuberant Aoife.

"Let's not treat our meeting so casually, visitors from another world. You're the ones who ventured here with intentions to harm our planet. By the day's end, you'll face elimination," Luverare declared with palpable animosity.

"You're the ones responsible for spreading misery throughout this universe! Your selfish attacks on worlds and universes in the multiverse have left chaos in your wake. We're here to make things right!" Aoife asserted, her voice laced with righteousness as she pointed her sword directly at Luverare.

"It is the will of Lady Phumera and our master Magnum Tenebrosum, and we shall execute their commands. The multiverse, under their rule, will find a better path," Luverare responded in a monotone voice, unwavering in allegiance to her powerful leaders.

"Do Outer Gods, who've been dormant, possess a will? Do you truly believe Magnum Tenebrosum is your leader in orchestrating all of this? Are you living in a delusion?" Velgrynd inquired, her tone laced with confusion.

She turned, scanning the unfolding events, and there, in the distance, was Azathoth, silently observing. "We have two Outer Gods on our side, capable of dismantling everything you've toiled to achieve. Could that be considered their 'will' as well?"

Luverare responded after a momentary pause, "It is. We are their pawns, destined to eliminate each other until they realize their dreams—our opinions hold no significance." The gravity of Luverare's words hung in the air, prompting a sigh and a dismissive shake of the head from Velgrynd.

"Engaging in conversations with mindless drones like you feels akin to talking to a wall. Meaningful dialogue seems impossible," she declared, waving off the notion with a hint of frustration.

"There's nothing more to discuss," declared Luverare, her words hanging in the air before she disappeared, reappearing in front of Suzaku. Intricate lines of small lasers adorned her fist, forming a makeshift glove that she hurled toward Suzaku.

The current Himejima head maintained a composed demeanor, calmly sidestepping the attack, causing Luverare's to miss her target. Yet, in a swift retaliation, countless miniature lasers sprouted from Luverare's side, closing in on Suzaku. Without a hint of panic, Suzaku raised her arm, conjuring flames that effortlessly consumed the approaching lasers, leaving Luverare astonished.

"Impossible! Mere flames can't extinguish lasers!" Luverare exclaimed, disbelief etched across her features.

"Who said my flames are ordinary?" Suzaku retorted, her response laden with a quiet confidence. With a subtle gesture, Suzaku extended her hand, propelling Luverare away with an unseen force.

"It's rather foolish of you to show up here, facing all of us at once," remarked Lavinia, her words slicing through the air. Luverare, propelled by the force of Suzaku's attack, hurtled in her direction. Magic circles materialized around Luverare, attaching themselves to her form and intensifying the gravity within her body.

With a swift motion, Lavinia drew her leg back, delivering a powerful kick that sent Luverare sprawling. A frustrated mumble escaped her lips, "Mmm... I should consider more appropriate footwear for such things."

Observing the scene, Aoife couldn't help but inject a hint of humor into the tense atmosphere, "Is this some kind of impromptu volleyball match?" Luverare, now at Aoife's side, received a sympathetic glance, though both knew that any words of solace would be futile.

Without hesitation, Aoife cloaked herself in touki, delivering a resounding kick to Luverare's back, propelling her skyward. In the skies of Ferrothos Prime, Rossweisse awaited, her wand poised for action. With a graceful wave, she conjured an array of magic circles, each one pulsating with magic.

Rossweisse unleashed a barrage of attacks from her magic circles, each strike colliding with Luverare's body, driving her forcefully back to the ground. The impact birthed a powerful explosion, a destructive force obliterating everything in its vicinity.

In the aftermath, after a brief pause, colossal laser beams erupted from the point where Luverare had crashed, compelling everyone to hastily retreat.

Unexpectedly, a massive laser appendage, resembling a spider's leg, emerged from the makeshift crate they had inadvertently formed. It was only the beginning, as more of these limbs sprouted forth until Luverare's entire body was extracted.

Lasers erupted from every part of her body, coalescing into eight colossal spider-like laser legs, while others took the form of sinuous appendages, resembling tentacles. The remaining lasers shot out wildly in all directions, wreaking havoc on the surroundings, dismantling buildings and structures with relentless abandon.

"That looks like the Arachnymph that Aaron turned into one of his Shadow Soldiers, but now she's, like, firing lasers... that's weird," remarked Aoife.

"Yes, but it seems she's in a berserker state," observed Velgrynd. Suddenly, a towering wall of ice manifested around Luverare, swiftly closing in and ensnaring her within a massive ice dome.

The mastermind behind this icy entrapment was Lavinia, determined to confine their troublesome enemy. "Now, what shall we do? Should we end her or bring her in? Aaron did mention we have the choice to decide how to handle them," she inquired, seeking the opinions of her companions.

Their collective gaze fixated on Luverare, who, trapped within the frosty enclosure, unleashed a barrage of attacks in a futile attempt to shatter the ice. The once-human entity had succumbed to a bestial rage, transforming into a peculiar creature, devoid of its former humanity. The struggle within the ice dome mirrored the internal battle of a being overtaken by its own wrath.

"Kill it," echoed the unanimous command from everyone except Aoife. Their collective gaze then shifted to her, awaiting her response.

Aoife grappled with a palpable sense of unease. Despite the seemingly irreversible state of those before her, a flicker of hope ignited within her.

She clung to the belief that redemption was possible, even in this universe tainted by the malicious influence of Phumera and her organization. A conversation with Aaron had unveiled the depth of the brainwashing that had ensnared countless minds over an extended period.

"Okay... but I don't want to watch," she acquiesced, turning away with a defeated sigh. The weight of the decision bore heavily on her shoulders.

As the icy dome, manipulated by Lavinia, began to plummet in temperature, signaling the impending demise of Luverare, Azathoth materialized abruptly before Aoife. Bewildered by the unexpected presence of the Outer God, Aoife couldn't help but voice her confusion, "Azathoth?"

"In this vast omniverse, true selflessness is a rare trait, yet, Aoife Murphy, you embody it. Few navigate the currents of benevolence as you do. Nevertheless, be wary, for many will seek to exploit such virtue. Even Aaron, not entirely devoid of self-interest, pursues his own motives. His commitment to preserving your safety surpasses all, sacrificing peace before endangering any of you," Azathoth explained.

"You've displayed a desire to extend compassion even to those who harbor ill intentions toward you. Your inclination to reform, to transform a potential enemy into an ally, even at the cost of personal harm, is commendable. However, consider the ramifications of this mindset. In the grand scheme, persisting on this path may prove detrimental to your well-being in the long run," Azathoth advised, urging Aoife to reconsider her altruistic perspective.

Azathoth watched as Aoife flashed a brief smile in his direction but opted for silence, gracefully leaping away. In her wake, Lavinia completed her decisive act, ending Luverare's existence.

Velgrynd, with a quizzical expression, questioned Azathoth's timing, "Was that necessary? You've known her for months, and you're aware of her nature. Why choose this moment to speak?"

Azathoth, calmly considering the query, offered his perspective, "I've been an observer, much like everyone else. Lavinia and Suzaku, before Aaron's arrival, shared a similar stance towards humans. However, their perspectives have gradually evolved, initially influenced by Tobio Ikuse and now shaped by Aaron Toole. People change, especially under Aaron's influence. The extent of that change remains uncertain."

Rossweisse, seeking insight, inquired further, "Do you believe she'll alter her perspective?"

Azathoth, with a sagacious air, elaborated, "Remember, Aoife's existence was cut short at a young age. Although resurrected and exposed to more of life, she remains essentially a child. Like Aaron, she needs time for a complete transformation and maturation."

Rossweisse began to utter something, her words on the tip of her tongue, but Azathoth swiftly interjected, "Yes. The trials awaiting her in this universe, as well as in Fadir Fedora and the Evie Etoulde, will mold her further. Her answers will crystallize over the next few months," Azathoth stated, turning her gaze towards the spot where Aoife had leaped away.

[Good job! That's another one down! Four more to go!] Eliovan's exclamation cut through their conversation, punctuating the triumph in the ongoing challenges.

Azathoth decided to pause there, redirecting the discussion, "Let's halt this conversation for now. Our path lies towards the tower. I believe everyone else will triumph over their enemies in due course."

Azathoth and Velgrynd surged ahead, leading the way, with Rossweisse quickening her steps to join them, a stream of questions flowing from her. Meanwhile, Lavinia and Suzaku hung back, exchanging glances.

As the distance grew between them and the others, Lavinia broke the silence. "We've changed a lot in a year, haven't we?"

Suzaku nodded, reflecting, "More than we did five years ago, and we had our fair share of challenges back then too. Do you ever wish things were different?"

A small smile played on Lavinia's lips as she shook her head. "No. If we changed anything, I doubt our paths would have crossed with Aaron's. I cherish the life I have now."

Suzaku mirrored the smile, nodding in agreement. Together, they quickened their pace, catching up with the group ahead, each step echoing the journey they'd embraced and the choices that had brought them to this moment.

"Is it really okay for us to watch from a distance, Aurelia-san?" Haru inquired, her gaze fixed on their leader.

Aurelia, with a reassuring nod, affirmed, "It's fine. If those two can't overcome their mental barriers, they won't be participating in the tournament games when we return home." Her tone held a firm resolve. "Physically, they're fine, and they've mastered various abilities. However, some mental obstacle hinders them from unleashing their full potential in actual battles. Remarkably, in training, this barrier seems to dissipate."

Aurelia turned her attention to Haru and Yoru standing beside her, adding, "You two don't struggle with that, although you face other challenges."

"Other challenges? What do you mean by that?" Haru questioned, her head tilting in curiosity.

Roygun, accompanied by her peerage not too far away, interjected, "You need to find your own peace."

"Piss?" Haru echoed, confusion etched across his face.

"Not piss, peace!" Roygun corrected, a hint of embarrassment coloring her cheeks. Haru couldn't help but giggle, fully aware of the unintentional slip. Roygun sighed in response. "I swear, you've become even cheekier than before. But yes, you two have your own small mental barrier."

"Isn't it obvious?" Tiamat chimed in as she descended near the dragon sisters. However, her words only elicited quizzical tilts of their heads. "Aaron," she added, a simple utterance that caused the two dragon sisters to blush.

"W-what about him!?" exclaimed Haru, her surprise echoed by Yoru, who silently nodded her head vigorously. Aurelia, Roygun, Tiamat, and the others accompanying them couldn't help but smirk at the sisters' reactions.

"I'll answer your question after those two finish fighting," Tiamat declared, redirecting everyone's attention back to the ongoing clash between Ryuuta Nakiri and Bova Tannin.

In the ongoing confrontation, the duo faced one of Zenosius' subordinates, Umbostaw. Unlike the majority of Zenosius' subordinates who resembled humans, Umbostaw was a towering beast capable of articulating in a human language.

Standing proudly at a staggering 30 meters, Umbostaw possessed a formidable physique. Its predominantly gray form was adorned with a white skeletal armor, providing an imposing appearance. The creature's head was a marvel in itself, divided into three parts, housing glowing red eyes that emitted an unsettling aura. Adding to its menacing presence, Umbostaw sported a bifurcated tail, further enhancing its intimidating visage.

Without hesitation, Bova and Ryuuta executed a swift maneuver, vanishing from sight only to reappear beneath Umbostaw. Their fists collided with force against the colossal beast, yet the impact seemed futile. The creature remained impervious to their assault.

In response to their relentless but ineffective attacks, Umbostaw, with an air of superiority, uttered, "You persistently do this, yet I do not get damaged. Weaklings shouldn't challenge me." His proclamation resonated before he retaliated by slamming his formidable tail onto both Bova and Ryuuta, sending them hurtling away from the confrontation.

Despite being sent flying, neither of them bore any physical wounds; this skirmish had unfolded in such a manner for the past few minutes.

"We're not making a dent in it, and we're stronger," Bova remarked to his comrade, grappling with the tactical puzzle they faced.

Ryuuta, his gaze fixed on the formidable beast, clenched his teeth in frustration. "I don't know. Aurelia-san mentioned it's a mental obstacle, but I can't wrap my head around it," he replied, the young man grappling with the enigma before them.

In an attempt to break through the impasse, Ryuuta had deployed every tactic in his arsenal. He even sought solace in the intimacy of a moment with one of his fiancés, Millarca Vordenburg. Yet, she astutely perceived his motives and gently declined his advances.

While the rejection didn't strain their relationship, it left Ryuuta grappling with regret. Since that moment, he hadn't ceased apologizing to Millarca, a penance echoing the unintended consequences of his actions.

Umbostaw let out a weary sigh, his form dissolving from their view. Suddenly, he reappeared right in front of them, making a grab for Ryuuta and Bova. Reacting swiftly, both Ryuuta and Bova leaped away just in time, narrowly escaping the bone-like fangs that sprouted from Umbostaw's chest.

The colossal monster then lightly tapped his foot on the ground, prompting enormous, razor-sharp bones to erupt from the earth, hurtling towards Bova and Ryuuta. In response, Ryuuta unleashed a barrage of touki bullets, while Bova countered with a searing breath attack.

The collision erupted in a dazzling display, but to their astonishment, the bones proved formidable, obliterating their combined attacks. Forced to readjust midair to evade the onslaught, Ryuuta and Bova landed on the ground only to find themselves ensnared by large, shadowy hands emerging from the darkness, seizing their ankles with an unexpected grip.

"Enough of this," Ryuuta exclaimed in frustration. With determination, he tapped into more power, triggering his transformation into his [Dragon Man] form.

In a burst of energy, he annihilated the darkness that were gripping them. Simultaneously, Bova mirrored the action, enveloping himself in flames. The two of them faced Umbostaw, their expressions steely and resolute.

"Hmm. It seems you're finally taking me seriously. Come, fledglings," Umbostaw taunted, gesturing dismissively.

However, swift as a shadow, Ryuuta closed the gap in an instant. His powerful punch sent Umbostaw soaring into the sky, a shock etched across the creature's face. Unyielding, Ryuuta pressed on.

He reappeared above Umbostaw, launching a relentless barrage of golden touki balls. Umbostaw, caught off guard, made no attempt to defend himself, succumbing to the onslaught. Each strike from Ryuuta was a testament to his intensified resolve. The creature, battered and defenseless, was blown away, crashing back to the ground under the relentless assault.

On the ground below, Bova stood, flames gathering in his mouth, a fiery anticipation building. In one sweeping motion, he unleashed the inferno toward the fallen Umbostaw. The flames devoured everything in their path, a scorching force that left nothing in their wake.

Ryuuta descended, both of them fixing their gaze on the point where Umbostaw had crashed. To their astonishment, he rose, moving steadily towards them. However, this time, signs of the battle adorned him—visible injuries that hinted at the intensity of their encounter. Despite the expected victory, a twinge of surprise colored Ryuuta's expression.

"Only a little scratch, huh? This is getting ridiculous," Ryuuta muttered, frustration etching his voice.

Bova, ever pragmatic, suggested, "Yeah, we need to break through that mental block. Should we ask Aaron-dono to remove it?"

Ryuuta shook his head, foreseeing Aaron's response. "I doubt he would. He'd insist it's an essential part of our journey, a challenge to overcome. If we take the easy way out and ask him to erase it, we won't grow as individuals."

Bova gave a determined nod, and without hesitation, they both lunged at Umbostaw, the monstrous creature holding its ground with an eerie stillness. When they closed in, a myriad of razor-sharp bones erupted from the ground, veiled in shadows and darkness.

In a dance of agility, Bova and Ryuuta skillfully evaded the onslaught, although not unscathed. Bova's scales felt the graze of some attacks, and a peculiar sensation lingered after contact, leaving him puzzled. Simultaneously, Ryuuta's clothes bore the marks of the encounter, torn and tattered, but undeterred, they pressed on toward Umbostaw.

As they reared back their arms, readying themselves for another attack, an unexpected twist unfolded. Darkness engulfed their consciousness, and both Bova and Ryuuta succumbed to an unexplained blackout. The battlefield, once filled with the intensity of their confrontation, fell into an ominous silence, yet their teammates didn't help.

Umbostaw let out a disdainful huff, disappointment etched on his face. "That was the extent of your powers? I anticipated a greater display, especially considering your recent surge in power. It seems my expectations were too optimistic," he remarked, his gaze fixed on Ryuuta and Bova, engulfed by the encroaching shadows and darkness.

"Uwa... s-shouldn't we help them?" Haru's voice trembled with concern. The sight of Ryuuta and Bova's apparent defeat had unsettled her, and she couldn't fathom why their leader, Aurelia, seemed unperturbed.

"No. They will overcome this," declared Aurelia, her confidence resolute and unwavering.

"And if they don't?" Yoru's inquiry hung in the air, a somber note in her tone.

"They will. Trust in your teammates," replied Aurelia. Though Tiamat and Roygun outwardly mirrored her assurance, an undercurrent of unease lingered. The unknown enemies they faced planted seeds of doubt, and the duo recognized that overcoming mental hurdles required more than a single skirmish.

"I'd like to agree with that, Aurelia-sama, but what if they don't conquer those demons?" Oleander, a member of Roygun's peerage, voiced the nagging concern.

Aurelia fixed Oleander with a skeptical gaze. "You are a dragon too, Oleander. Do you not trust those two as fellow dragons?" Her question lingered, challenging the very essence of their shared identity.

Oleander remained silent, opting not to respond, his gaze fixed back on the unfolding "battle." Patiently, he awaited the return of his teammates. Yet, much to the surprise of the onlookers, the anticipated return swiftly came, emanating not only from Ryuuta but also from Bova. The seamless shift caught them off guard, prompting a shared sense of amazement among the observers.

The oppressive darkness and clinging shadows, once ensnaring them, shattered into fragments, dispersed by the brilliance of golden and red eruptions of light. In the aftermath, Ryuuta and Bova stood firm, their eyes ablaze with a fiery and resolute determination, radiating a profound sense of righteousness. The transformative eruption not only illuminated the immediate surroundings but also kindled an unwavering resolve within the two figures, as if the very essence of their beings had taken a slight change.

"Bobo! Are you there!?" Ryuuta's confused shout pierced the eerie darkness.

In the blink of an eye, he transitioned from charging toward Umbostaw to finding himself enveloped in this obscure void. Suspicion of his opponent's involvement clouded his thoughts, yet the method to extricate himself eluded him.

Abruptly, inky mechanical appendages emerged from the shadowy abyss beneath him, entwining him in a suffocating embrace. Desperation gripped Ryuuta as he attempted to break free, but the inescapable grip of the dark arms held firm. Soon, more of these shadow-laden mechanical extensions materialized, fastening onto him with a relentless force, each tug intensifying.

A pained cry erupted from Ryuuta's lips, his struggle echoing in the oppressive silence. Despite his fervent attempts to break loose, the implacable hold persisted. The disconcerting silence shattered with a sickening "pop" resonating in the abyss. Ryuuta's gaze darted to the source, discovering that one of his limbs had been forcibly torn away. Another agonized cry punctuated the darkness, marking the gruesome reality of his plight.

In the midst of agonizing pain, Ryuuta's breaths escaped in strained gasps. His determination to endure pulsed through him, though his body bore the brutal toll. His left leg torn away, his right eye gouged out—each wound a torment, intensifying the battle against unconsciousness.

"I need to break free from this...!" Ryuuta fought against the encroaching darkness, his will clashing with the physical agony.

A voice, hauntingly familiar, sliced through the shadows. "Ryuu, you should accept your limit. This is where it ends," it murmured, freezing Ryuuta in his tracks.

"Millarca...? No, you're just an illusion. I won't listen!" Ryuuta's defiance rang out, a surge of anger burning within him.

Yet, the illusion of Millarca Vordenburg, with a serene smile, approached him, her words cutting through the chaos. "I am the real Millarca. What I speak is the truth. You and the other dragon are the weakest links, dragging your team down in the tournament."

Her hand delicately traced Ryuuta's face, reaching the void where his eye once resided. A scream erupted from him as her touch invaded the raw wound, an unbearable fusion of pain and revelation.

"Give up! Give up! Ryuuutaaaaaaaaaaa!" Millarca's piercing scream reverberated through the void, transforming into manic laughter. The cacophony of Ryuuta's desperate cries intertwined with Millarca's unsettling amusement, creating an eerie symphony in the emptiness. Amidst this dissonance, a sudden hush descended as Millarca's laughter continued, but Ryuuta's screams ceased.

Curiosity etched across Millarca's face, her laughter subsiding. She peered at Ryuuta, only to find him sporting a calm expression. Despite the sensation of Millarca's phantom fingers lingering around his wound, Ryuuta remained composed.

Perplexed by the unexpected silence, the fake Millarca inquired, "What's with that look? Why aren't you screaming?" A note of confusion tainted her tone. "I know what will affect you~," she purred, clicking her fingers. Two imposing humanoids materialized behind her, their hands boldly exploring her body. "How does it feel to have your lovely fiancé be touched by other men?"

Ryuuta's response cut through the surreal atmosphere, his voice unwavering. "You're not her. You're simply a fake—I won't be affected by your lies anymore," he declared with resolute determination, prompting a displeased frown from the counterfeit Millarca.

'In my life story so far, Nakagami's shadow has always loomed large. Even after he vanished, joining the Khaos Order in search of our cousin Momoji, I consistently felt like I was trailing behind. Reflecting on a showdown five years ago between Nakagami and Tobio Ikuse-san, their power reached a deadlock.'

'Even in the present, Tobio Ikuse-san has surpassed me in strength, and it feels like everyone else is progressing. I can't shake this feeling of being stuck, as if an invisible barrier is holding me back. Finally, I've identified it—a crucial realization. There's this unseen obstacle I can't overcome. Acknowledging it is a starting point, a first step to break free from whatever's been hindering my progress.'

The shadowy hands surrounding him suddenly shattered, catching the fake Millarca off guard, prompting her to retreat a step. As Ryuuta turned around, he was met with the sight of his younger self, a version filled with uncertainty about the future.

He knelt down, placing both hands on the shoulders of his younger counterpart, his seemingly missing arm reappearing back on his body and spoke with reassurance, "We're our own person—we should stop trying to emulate our older cousin, the former heir. We have our own identity. Jin-san and everyone else have been emphasizing this to us. Even during our visit to Nakagami in Grigori, he sensed our inner turmoil but couldn't articulate it. It's time to forge ahead and carve out our own path."

Ryuuta turned around to face the imposter Millarca, his expression determined. "This ability of yours, it tried to mess with my insecurities, but it ended up backfiring in a painful way. The pain it caused made me realize something important that was missing within me."

The fake Millarca smirked arrogantly, dismissing Ryuuta's revelation. "Your doubts will always be there, no matter how much you grow. They're a part of who you are."

However, Ryuuta's smile didn't waver. "That's just part of being human. And you know what? This whole situation also sheds light on how incredible Jin-san is. Despite having the power to reshape reality, he holds back from creating some fake perfect world. It's what makes him seem more human than some other people I know."

As Ryuuta reflected on leaders and heirs from the Five Principal Clans, his smile widened. "I appreciate the encounter, but it's time for me to go now." With purposeful motion, he raised his arm and slammed it down by his side, creating a noticeable crack in the void.

His younger self spoke up from behind, a hint of impatience in his voice. "Took you long enough."

Ryuuta turned, meeting his younger version's gaze, and responded with a smile. "Yeah, but you know what? This just means I've got more room to grow."

"Ugh?!" Bova's frustration echoed as he was forcefully thrown away by the illusions of his father and older brother, Eres Tannin.

His father, Tannin, voiced his disappointment, questioning Bova's progress. "Don't tell me this is all you have to show for? What was the point of joining [DxD] and Aurelia Le Guin's team if you can't even grow stronger?"

Eres charged at Bova, enveloped in flames, crashing into Bova's arms as he tried to defend himself. "In matches against incredibly strong teams, you and Ouryuu Nakiri are always the first ones knocked out. Even the female dragons last longer than you two!"

A tail swing from Eres met Bova's counter, but the force still sent him flying backward. Digging his legs into the ground, Bova halted himself, glaring at the illusionary figures taunting him. The disappointment in their words lingered, fueling his determination to prove them wrong.

The fake Tannin taunted, "You only ever knock out the weak during the tournament and boast proudly about it. Honestly, it's disappointing. You shouldn't even have the 'Tannin' surname in your name."

Bova took a moment to compose himself, exhaling slowly. "Do you really think the words of fakes and illusions can get under my skin? I spent a century training not to let things like this bother me! Aaron-sama recommended it! You're all just fools! Hahahaha!" His laughter echoed.

Pointing confidently at them, he smirked. "But you know, there's a essence of truth in your words! I'll take them and use them to better myself even more! I am the son of the great Tannin, and our lineage will continue to evolve until we approach perfection!" With determination in his eyes, Bova embraced the challenge to grow stronger.

Bova's face lit up with an even wider grin, and flames burst forth from him. "I don't need anything profound or life-changing! All I gotta do is stay true to myself, embrace my nature and powers, and everything's gonna work out just fine! I've got a bunch of dragons around me to steer me in the right direction! Bova Tannin is gonna be the greatest in the whole multiverse, and I'm gonna show you that today!"

The space around Bova started to crumble as his power continued to skyrocket. Unlike Ryuuta, he didn't grapple with a significant mental block because, well, he wasn't as brainy as his friend. For Bova, it was as straightforward as staying true to himself while making positive changes. He didn't need some deep realization to reach his goals; he just had to be his genuine self, evolving for the better.

The illusions of his father and brother wore mocking smirks, taunting him before disappearing from his view.

"Let me at that asshole! Let me kick his ass right now!" Bova screamed, his arms raised, flames bursting forth in frustration. The intensity of his anger and desire to confront the antagonist surged through him like a fiery torrent.

"Bo!!!" Ryuuta's scream echoed, his power surging and sending a force that blew everything in its vicinity away.

"Riiiight!!!" Bova's response was equally intense, causing even Umbostaw to take an involuntary step back, a reaction that surprised him.

Inwardly, Umbostaw questioned himself, 'I took a step back? Why? I am strong, and these two are weak... yet, I still took a step back! Fine, then. I'll face them head-on,' he resolved, despite sensing something peculiar about the new Ryuuta and Bova.

Umbostaw raised his arm, gesturing for both Ryuuta and Bova to approach him. "Come, fledglings, show me your newfound resolve. I'll commend you for breaking out of my ability."

Ryuuta and Bova vanished from their positions like a sudden gust, their collective fists crashing into Umbostaw's stomach. The impact temporarily subdued the beast, sending him sprawling and obliterating everything in their path.

As Umbostaw stirred back to consciousness, his movements were sluggish, and he struggled to summon his usual agility. Despite his limitations, he conjured bone spikes, hurling them toward Ryuuta and Bova in an attempt to counter. To everyone's surprise, the two effortlessly dismantled the counterattack with ease.

Umbostaw, bewildered and irritated, questioned aloud, "How is this possible? They couldn't even break through earlier, and now they can?"

Ignoring his queries, Ryuuta and Bova charged at him, delivering precise and powerful blows that gradually chipped away at his bone armor. Each strike not only weakened Umbostaw but also wreaked havoc on the environment, deconstructing their surroundings until they approached the reactor they had encountered earlier.

After another single punch from Ryuuta sent Umbostaw airborne, the two friends exchanged a determined glance. Seizing the moment, Bova took to the skies, while Ryuuta unleashed more of his power, enveloping himself in an even denser aura of touki. The air crackled with energy as they prepared to end this fight.

Ryuuta and Bova's auras burst forth, giving rise to miniature pillars of energy that enveloped them. Umbostaw observed, unable to suppress a grin in response to their powerful display.

"The people in this universe have endured more than enough from your leaders. It's time for a change!" Ryuuta declared with conviction.

Bova chimed in, "It's not every day you see a dragon aiming for peace, but if it's him, I'll stand by him across the entire multiverse to make it happen!"

As their auras intensified, taking the shape of dragon heads encircling their bodies, they surged forward, charging directly at Umbostaw. The sky streaked with hues of red, and the ground shimmered with golden energy.

Close to Umbostaw, just inches away, the familiar words they always uttered resonated in the vicinity.

"To become his fist...!" mumbled Ryuuta.

"To become his fang...!" declared Bova.

Eventually, the attacks from both Ryuuta and Bova converged, colliding with Umbostaw's form. A cross, a vivid blend of crimson and gold, materialized in the expansive sky.

"Don't get in our way!!" they shouted in perfect harmony, the force of their united attack causing a colossal explosion that echoed through the skies of Ferrothos Prime, successfully taking out Umbostaw.

The immense power not only incapacitated the generators for the electric shield enveloping the planet but also rendered defense against the incoming ships and armies more manageable for their allies. Simultaneously, the destruction of the generator maintaining the barrier for Zenosius eased the task for everyone else. The domino effect of their successful assault created a turning point in the battle for Ferrothos Prime.

Both Ryuuta and Bova, panting heavily, exchanged glances after successfully overcoming their enemy. Grins stretched across their faces, a shared acknowledgment of their triumph.

"You look like shit, Bobo," Ryuuta remarked with a teasing grin.

Bova shot back with a playful retort, "Back at you, Ryuu-boi," and they sealed their camaraderie with a fist bump.

Aurelia, alongside the rest of the group, landed beside the duo, offering her commendation. "Fufu, well done, you two. I knew you had it in you," she praised.

"Aurelia-san," Ryuuta muttered appreciatively as Oleander handed them both Slime Pills. "Thank you."

"These will help with mental fatigue too. You both went through some trials in that darkness," Aurelia explained, underlining the value of the pills.

As the trio recovered, Ryuuta's curiosity got the better of him. "What kind of power did he have? Bones and darkness, right? Jin-san mentioned that most people in this universe have some form of darkness or shadow manipulation as a secondary ability. Whether they master it is anyone's guess, though," he inquired, seeking insights into the defeated foe's abilities.

Aurelia stepped forward, breaking the surprising revelation to the group. "So, that creature and Yanuyo are connected in some odd way. If you want the full story, you'll have to ask Aaron about it," she explained, leaving everyone in astonishment.

Bova, still processing the information, remarked, "That thing and Yanuyo are related? Now that's unexpected." He ended up on the ground after taking the Slime Pill.

Aurelia nodded, confirming, "Yeah, that's why they both can manipulate bones and control shadows and darkness, as you witnessed. Anyway, with that clarified, let's go—"

Eliovan's voice interrupted, filling the air with updates. [Another one down, and great job on disabling the generator for the electric shield. Sona and the others should find it easier to navigate in space when dealing with the reinforcements that have arrived!]

Roygun, seeking more information, inquired, "Three more to go then?"

"It seems like it, but the other three are not in our vicinity. Still, we should those them out since Zenosius appears capable of controlling the planet itself even without those generators," explained Aurelia while pointing at the mechanical appendages in the distance. The team swiftly departed from their current location to destroy them.

"Wait, Anstella, hold on! Let's stick together and move as a unit!" Dulio called out urgently to his new ally, but Anstella continued eliminating enemies around them without a second thought.

"He'll show up if we keep smashing these things. He cares too much about them. Also, be mindful of how you take them down," Anstella advised, methodically destroying various buildings and lights in a specific manner to lure out one of Zenosius' subordinates.

Branthar, accompanying them, followed suit. "We've got a score to settle with that jerk. I want a piece of him myself!"

Gabriel, now part of Dulio's team, offered assistance. "Need some help?"

"Yeah, they're tricky to beat, even with Anstella, Branthar, and me teaming up," Astrid replied, acknowledging the challenge they faced. The air crackled with anticipation as they prepared to confront the enemy.

"But are you sure they'll come here?" Raynare inquired, having joined them for the past few weeks. All three individuals nodded in affirmation, their anticipation evident. Suddenly, a loud sound reverberated from a specific direction, prompting them to turn and face the source.

An unexpected explosion rocked the area, sending everyone sprawling. After regaining their composure, they fixed their gaze on the epicenter of the blast. There, amidst the aftermath, lay a figure—a person who, for better or worse, bore a striking resemblance to a humanoid dragon.

This enigmatic being sported two horns of which were black and adorned with a white shell. A purple crystal adorned the center of his head, accentuating the distinctive features. Long, flowing white hair framed his face, and spiky shoulder guards added to his formidable appearance.

A lengthy black tail trailed behind, and exposed chest and thick scales covered his legs. Adding to the surreal sight, three purple dragon heads snarled and hissed menacingly behind him, directed at Dulio's group.

"Figured you'd show up, Nocakonith," Anstella hissed, her words dripping with venom.

Branthar, with an eager grin, chimed in, "Hey, Noc, fancy a rematch?"

Astrid, the stern one of the group, declared, "We're here to retrieve that document, Nocakonith, assuming you haven't disposed of it yet."

The humanoid dragon, Nocakonith, chuckled at them, a mocking tone in his voice. "Yo, it's been a while. Still holding a grudge over my so-called betrayal? You guys should really move on."

Dulio, puzzled, asked, "Betrayal?" His gaze fixed on Nocakonith, seeking an explanation.

Nocakonith, reveling in the moment, taunted, "You didn't spill the beans, Astrid? Pretty dumb of you. Unless, of course, you decided to keep it hush-hush, typical for you guys, even if you call yourselves the Resistance, kuku."

Astrid, unfazed, adjusted her shades coolly. "Aaron knows everything, but we left it to him whether or not to spill the beans to his team. It seems like he chose not to."

"Enough talk," she continued, her tone growing stern. "Hand over the documents, or your story ends here."

"No way. I still got them, sure, but Phumera and everyone else already have copies. So, it's kinda pointless now," Nocakonith retorted. A smirk played on his lips as he continued, "But you know what? I'm up for a challenge, bring it on!" His voice thundered before he expanded in size and disappeared.

"Watch out! Above!" Branthar's urgent shout echoed, and suddenly Nocakonith reappeared above them. Without delay, he unleashed a massive, purple, flaming breath attack on Dulio's group.

In the face of the impending attack, Dulio swiftly conjured several radiant balls of light, hurling them towards Nocakonith's attack to counter the impending danger. Simultaneously, Griselda sprang into action, firing arrows with precision.

The arrows, however, weren't just ordinary; they carried enhancements, elevating the magical abilities of everyone around. Her archery skills had evolved to the point where these enhancements weren't exclusive to angels anymore, benefiting the entire group.

The orbs of light collided with the oncoming breath attack, resulting in yet another explosive burst. This time, Mirana Shatarova conjured massive spears of light and launched them toward Nocakonith. The humanoid dragon, initially filled with glee, attempted to halt the attacks with his hands, only to find himself unexpectedly pushed backward.

"Wow! You guys are something else! To push me back like this is impressive! I'll give you credit, woman from another world. No one in the Resistance managed this before! Time to crank it up a notch; let's go with 80% power!" Nocakonith declared, acknowledging the formidable resistance.

Without warning, Nocakonith materialized next to Branthar, who had anticipated the move. Branthar swung his sword, enveloped in his own flames, towards the dragon. Nocakonith met the attack head-on, countering it with a powerful headbutt.

The clash between them sent a powerful shockwave rippling through the air, and both combatants remained locked in their midair struggle, unwavering in their determination. The confrontation's intensity only grew, with sparks flying in every direction, creating a dazzling display around them.

Despite the escalating turmoil, it became evident that Branthar was losing ground in the duel. In the end, he succumbed to the overwhelming raw power unleashed by Nocakonith, and with a forceful gust, Branthar was blown away, defeated by the sheer might of his opponent.

A flurry of yellow energized arrows streamed towards Nocakonith, their sheer number making it seem like a relentless swarm. He swatted at them, attempting to deflect the onslaught, but to his surprise, the first arrow pierced through his hand. Startled, he had to evade the succeeding arrows, his gaze fixing on Astrid, who stood as the archer behind this unexpected attack.

"Kuku, looks like you got stronger too, blonde bitch!" Nocakonith exclaimed with an odd sense of joy.

Gabriel, feeling the need to clarify, huffed, "Hey, I'm blonde too!"

Without missing a beat, Nocakonith responded in a deadpan tone, "You're a bitch too. There, happy?" His eyes met Gabriel's with a cold, emotionless stare.

"That's not nice!" Gabriel protested, her dissatisfaction evident. In response, she unleashed a barrage of millions of light spears in Nocakonith's direction, catching him off guard.

Faced with this unexpected attack, Nocakonith decided to unleash the full extent of his power. Creating distance between himself and the incoming attacks, he anticipated safety. However, to his surprise, the light spears weren't far behind, persistently chasing after him. This forced him into a continuous evasion, realizing that the situation demanded more than just an initial burst of power.

"Wow, you're way more powerful than you appear! Alright, let's do this!" Nocakonith exclaimed enthusiastically. With a surge of energy, he unleashed his full power, causing him to shrink back to his normal size. In response, he countered Gabriel's attacks by launching millions of purple, shadowy spears.

As the two opposing forces collided, some of the spears exploded and annihilated each other. However, Gabriel's relentless attacks proved overpowering in certain areas, and remnants of her attacks surged toward Nocakonith. Quick on his feet, he took flight, skillfully maneuvering around buildings to redirect the oncoming spears into hitting structures instead.

The confrontation escalated as others joined the fray, firing their own attacks at Nocakonith. This forced him into more series of evasive maneuvers, dodging attacks from various directions. To his surprise, a few of these attacks managed to graze him, causing him to bleed.

"Haaa... okay, if you want everything I've got, my babies, go ahead, devour them!" he exclaimed. The purple dragons reappeared behind him, eagerly devouring the attacks aimed at him. Each intake seemed to bolster their strength, granting them the ability to replicate the attacks they consumed.

With newfound power, the purple dragons unleashed beams of light from their mouths, targeting Dulio's group. Dulio's group were left with no choice but to either evade the incoming attacks or counter them with their own light-based techniques.

Curious and wary, Dulio inquired, "You've faced him before, right? What can you tell us about his abilities and those dragon creatures?"

Astrid responded, "Nothing much. What you see is what you get. He can still transform into a massive creature you'd call a dragon. Those things behind him can devour attacks, getting stronger and mimicking the abilities they consume. There might be new tricks up his sleeve since our last encounter, but that's the extent of what we know."

"Good to know!" Dulio responded with a confident grin. He raised his hand, manipulating the clouds overhead, causing a continuous downpour of thunderstrikes aimed at Nocakonith. Amid the storm, Dulio touched his transceiver, seeking permission, [Lavinia-san, can I have permission to manipulate your snow and ice?]

As the thunderstruck, Nocakonith was hit by a few bolts, but he seemed only mildly bothered by the electrifying attacks. Observing the unfolding spectacle, the humanoid dragon pondered, "He can control the clouds? Maybe the weather?"

A dark purple aura enveloped Nocakonith's arm, and he unleashed an enormous purple lightning attack toward Dulio. Quick to react, Dulio evaded the impending strike, which landed on the ground, obliterating it and leaving behind a large pool of crackling lightning.

"Kuku, I guess taking this ability from that weakling was worth it," Nocakonith chuckled with a hint of satisfaction, his dark laughter echoing through the charged air.

Just as Nocakonith prepared to make his move, Raynare appeared behind him. "I don't like you, and it's like a queasy feeling in my stomach, so that probably means something," she declared before delivering a powerful kick to the back of his head, sending him sprawling to the ground.

Turning her attention to Anstella, Raynare inquired, "So, when did he betray your group, and why?"

Anstella, unsure of the details, shrugged. "I'm not sure. I joined after he was already gone. You might want to ask Astrid and Branthar for the whole story." With a nonchalant gesture, she tossed her black suitcase toward the spot where Nocakonith had crashed.

Suddenly, breaking the tense atmosphere, Lavinia's voice crackled through their transceivers, [Dulio! I apologize for the delay in my reply, but feel free to do that!]

Anstella's briefcase erupted into a sudden explosion, unleashing a horde of tall, stick-like shadow creatures. These eerie entities sported human-like teeth that clattered menacingly, enveloping the surroundings in a strange and unsettling symphony of sound.

Perplexed by the unfolding spectacle, Raynare questioned, "But you acted like you knew him?"

"Yeah, I do. He attacked a planet we were trying to recruit, destroying it. I had friends there, and that really, really pisses me off," Anstella replied, her gaze fixed on the spot where Nocakonith stood, an intense glare burning in her eyes.

Understanding the gravity of the situation, Raynare nodded. She conjured a small ball of light with her powers, molding it into a humanoid shape before instructing it to join Anstella's peculiar creations on the ground.

Amidst the chaos, Nocakonith, seemingly undeterred by the commotion, chimed in, "You guys are fun! Come on, let's keep going!" Despite a noticeable deformation at the back of his head, he appeared unfazed.

A sudden hush fell over Nocakonith, and in a low whisper to himself, he touched his ear. Within moments, colossal mechanical hands materialized, surrounding them. Even with Lavinia's snow and ice attempting to slow down the giant hands, they shot towards everyone in Dulio's group.

"Little piss ant called for help from Zenosius!" Anstella roared, her anger palpable. She pointed her finger at Nocakonith, commanding, "Kill him!"

The shadowy creatures she conjured immediately charged at him. Nocakonith, seemingly amused, danced around the attacking creatures. However, his amusement turned to surprise when the creatures suddenly shrieked, generating shadowy balls that launched toward him.

Raynare's own creations joined the fray, lending a hand to Anstella's creatures. They created ropes of light, attempting to ensnare Nocakonith. Despite his awareness of Raynare's potential strength, he adjusted his powers to evade them. Some of the light ropes grazed him, causing him to feel a sharp pang of pain.

Dulio, Griselda, and the rest of [Team Trump Card of Heaven] plunged into the chaos. With Lavinia's consent, Dulio harnessed control over the surrounding snow, directing a significant portion towards Nocakonith. The unexpected onslaught slowed him down, catching him off guard.

Beneath Nocakonith, enormous ice spikes burst forth, ensnaring one of his legs and encasing it in a frosty grip. Frustrated, he attempted to melt the ice with his flames, but the frozen barrier resisted. Opting for brute force, he pounded the ice with his hands, yet it proved equally resistant.

"Damn, can't shake this off... that asshole," he muttered, casting an accusatory glare at Dulio.

Astrid, witnessing the effectiveness of Dulio's ice manipulation, exclaimed, "Your ice can do that? That's handy!"

Dulio, however, responded with a hint of uncertainty, "Well, that's Lavinia-san's ice doing the work, not mine, I just manipulated it to do that."

Moments later, three of Lavinia's Ice Dolls materialized beside the creatures summoned by Anstella and Raynare, all united in the effort to bring down Nocakonith. Seizing the opportunity, Nero Raimondi, a [Rook] from Dulio's team, charged at Nocakonith with energy.

"Ora, ora, ora, ora!!!" Nero's battle cry echoed as he unleashed a rapid succession of [Holy Fist] strikes at Nocakonith. The humanoid dragon skillfully deflected and dodged the majority of the attacks, but a few landed, inflicting searing pain across his body.

Not alone in this assault, Ryuu Heikan joined the fray, employing his Chinese martial arts and harnessing light powers. His relentless flurry of punches and kicks left Nocakonith with no respite.

Simultaneously, the creatures behind them coordinated their attacks, firing projectiles at Nocakonith while skillfully avoiding both Ryuu and Nero. This created a seamless, synchronized assault, combining both close combat and ranged attacks to overwhelm their powerful enemy.

Nocakonith couldn't help but laugh, thoroughly enjoying himself despite being overwhelmed even at full power in his current form. "You guys are incredible. I haven't had this much fun since facing that Ramlar guy! Too bad he's dead now."

Nero, slightly irritated, interjected, "Do not laugh at a dead person!"

"They're dead; they can't do anything about it!" Nocakonith retorted, his amusement undeterred. Finally deciding to fight back, he unleashed a lightning-quick jab at Nero. To his surprise, Nero didn't budge, taking the attack head-on. Nocakonith's astonishment grew even more as his punch seemed to have no effect on the resilient Nero.

"What the fuck? How did you withstand that!?" Nocakonith questioned in disbelief. Nero offered no response, instead delivering a full force [Holy Fist] to Nocakonith's face. The impact sent him flying, demolishing multiple buildings in his path and shaking the very foundation of the planet.

As Nocakonith rose, blood trickling from his broken nose, a storm of enormous light spears assailed him. Mirana Shatarova unleashed this barrage, but it wasn't the sole threat. Above, an even larger light arrow soared toward him, crafted by Griselda. Perched atop the arrow, Kiyotora Shinra brandished both his swords, their blades charged with holy energy.

Efforts to evade were futile; both of Nocakonith's legs were ensnared in ice, and an intensified blizzard engulfed him. Simultaneously, small thunderbolts crackled from all directions, further impeding his movement.

"Haaaaaa!" Branthar's battle cry reverberated as he swung his sword, releasing an enormous flaming purple slash. Following this fiery onslaught were arrows from Astrid, each adding to the formidable assault.

This combined offensive reached its climax when Griselda's arrow found its mark, piercing Nocakonith's chest. In swift succession, Kiyotora's swords sliced through him. Leaping away, they left the path open for the residual force of their united attacks, culminating in a colossal explosion. The shockwave reverberated, shaking the very foundation of the planet again and obliterating more of their surroundings.

"Think we got him?" Dulio inquired, a note of uncertainty in his voice.

"I highly doubt it. Even if that's his 100% in that form, it's not his strongest. He's got this monstrous form, what you guys call a 'dragon' form. It's the pinnacle, and no one has faced it and come out alive," Astrid responded, her tone filled with a matter-of-fact certainty.

Curiosity flickered in Dulio's eyes. "Speaking of facing him, when did you guys tangle with him? And can you shed some light on why he turned traitor?"

Astrid let out a sigh, her gaze momentarily distant. "Back on our previous planet, the one before the one we're on now, and the one your leader transformed for the better, Nocakonith was part of our group. He was on the brink of becoming one of our leaders. However, we were oblivious to the fact that he was a double agent for Zenosius even before joining the Ueboros." She paused, the weight of the betrayal evident in her words.

Astrid elucidated the situation, her voice carrying the weight of a complex tale. "He swiped a document from us, basically detailing a machine meant to transform our former planet into an endless source of energy. However, it was a prototype, and without further adjustments, like the one we have now, it would likely have failed. Phumera and Yve, being astute, and with an array of scientists and researchers at their disposal, were most likely able to draft new blueprints."

Griselda, eager for more details, inquired, "Did that Ramlar guy go after him then?"

Astrid nodded. "Yes, there was a showdown on that planet. Although it was brief, he managed to swiftly defeat most of us, snatched the document, and made a quick getaway. Ramlar, who was already a bit... unstable at the time, chose to pursue him. However, he returned battered and bruised, on the brink of death. His attempt to retrieve the documents from Nocakonith had ended in failure."

Before the mission commenced, everyone on Team [DxD] knew about Ramlar's demise, the former third leader of the Resistance. However, the details behind his decision to embark on a suicide mission remained shrouded in mystery for most.

Only the current Resistance leaders, Laeronia, a handful of selected individuals, and Aaron were privy to the reasons. It was common knowledge that Lysanvar took over his position just a few days after the confirmation of Ramlar's death.

As the dust settled after the explosion, the grotesque figure of Nocakonith emerged. His body bore the scars of the devastating blast—missing an arm, half of his left face, and significant portions of his stomach and thighs. Yet, in the face of his maimed appearance, he couldn't help but release a maniacal laugh directed at the remaining members of the team.

"Nice... nice...! Only three of us left now, and if I go down, those two idiots will be the sole survivors! I'll bring you all down with me, and this half of the planet too!" he declared defiantly. The area around him erupted in an ominous, dark purple haze, intensifying the tension in the air.

"He's transforming," Branthar remarked with a tense undertone.

"Then stop it?" Raynare suggested, summoning an enormous light spear that she hurled at Nocakonith. To her surprise, an immense dark purple dragon materialized, swallowing the light spear whole. "I didn't think those creatures were still around."

Astrid pointed out, "The other two already killed the creations from earlier," drawing everyone's attention to Anstella and Raynare's creatures, now chomped in half. Only Lavinia's remained intact, their frozen heads shattered, marking the end of their assistance on the battlefield.

"We're not confident in facing this form of his, so we'll retreat. I've gathered the information we needed. We'll leave it to you guys. We're going after the generators," Astrid declared, summoning yellow energy wings. "Bran, let's go!"

"I'll join you then," Griselda announced. "Ryuu, please come with me. The rest can stay here."

"I have no problems with that, Griselda-nee!" Dulio exclaimed, preparing himself as the few of them took to the skies and flew away. The remaining group prepared for the imminent confrontation with Nocakonith in his transformed state.

Dulio couldn't hide his surprise as he and the others witnessed the unexpected transformation of Nocakonith. "That doesn't look like a dragon at all!" he exclaimed, his eyes widening at the sight.

Before them loomed an immense serpent-like creature, its body adorned with spiky black armor, cracks pulsating with ominous purple flames. Beneath it, darkness and shadows cast an eerie atmosphere. Formidable bony teeth and blazing purple eyes added to the creature's menacing appearance, its colossal form covering at least half the planet's surface.

Without any forewarning, Nocakonith unleashed a colossal breath attack toward Dulio's remaining group. However, in a decisive move, Jessica Lagerkvist positioned herself in front of them. With a commanding presence, she erected a powerful and expansive barrier of light, shielding them from the impending attack.

The breath attack slammed into her barrier, but with ease, she blocked it. The onlookers stared in awe as the powerful blast annihilated at least half of the planet's structures. However, the relief was short-lived, as concern etched Diethelm Waldseemüller's face. He anxiously inquired, "Are the others okay? Some of them must have been caught in that devastating attack."

Suddenly, Eliovan's urgent voice cut through, [What happened?! Did Nocakonith transform!?]

Raynare swiftly responded, [Yeah, he's taken the form of a giant snake dragon thing. How's everyone else holding up?]

[We're fine. A sudden barrier shielded us all unexpectedly, catching us off guard. But please, defeat him quickly; otherwise, he'll wreak havoc on the remaining parts of the planet. There are crucial items we need to retrieve before the planet undergoes restoration by your leader!] elucidated Eliovan, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.

"Okay, let's—" Dulio began, ready to issue orders, but Raynare raised her hand, drawing everyone's attention to her.

"Do you think... Aaron would consider turning that thing into one of his Shadow Soldiers?" Raynare asked, a question that puzzled everyone except Gabriel.

"I think so. Aaron hasn't really explained why he chooses certain targets, but I believe that Nocakonith's current form would get the green light!" Gabriel exclaimed with certainty.

Raynare nodded, her expression serious. "Kill it and spread the word. Aaron might use his powers to separate Nocakonith from that form and then transform it into a Shadow Soldier."

"O-okay...? Now that that's settled, let's go and take it down!" Dulio said, brimming with enthusiasm.

"No, it's fine. We'll handle it," Raynare responded, leaving them even more confused than before.

Gabriel soared towards Raynare, wrapping her in a tight embrace that brought a blush to Raynare's cheeks. Together, they lifted their arms, conjuring a colossal sword of light that materialized above the planet. The sheer size and brilliance of the sword left everyone present in awe.

In the midst of this heavenly spectacle, Eliovan's voice crackled through the transceivers, expressing utter disbelief. [W-w-w-what in the world is that?! Is that one of us!? It is, right?!] he exclaimed, his shock reverberating through the communication channels.

"Go~!" Gabriel shouted with exhilaration, prompting the massive sword of light to descend towards the planet, its destination clear—Nocakonith.

The colossal, snake-like monster, Nocakonith, attempted to counter the impending attack, unleashing its own breath attack in defense. However, it proved to be a futile effort as the sword of light pierced through both Nocakonith and the planet itself. The collision culminated in a spectacular explosion that engulfed the entire planetary expanse.

From the vantage point of outer space, it appeared as if a potent, luminous pillar had consumed the planet, threatening its very existence. Yet, just as quickly as it appeared, the luminous pillar vanished after a few seconds, leaving behind nothing but an immense hole through the planet. Surprisingly, the damage began to repair itself.

Dulio and his team stood there, their expressions marked by astonishment, processing the unexpected scene before them. Turning to Gabriel and Raynare, Dulio couldn't help but voice his curiosity, "If you could do that, why didn't you do it earlier?"

Raynare tilted her head, responding with a nonchalant air, "They usually start talking when we engage them, play with their intentions a bit. It's what Aaron observed, and it's proven effective in extracting information. Haven't you noticed, even back in our universe? The villainous types like them have a weird habit for sharing their elaborate plans during these tense situations."

Initially prepared to protest, Dulio hesitated, contemplating Raynare's observation. The more he pondered, even reflecting on events preceding the previous year, he realized a recurring pattern. The so-called "evil" individuals he had encountered tended to indulge in verbose monologues, eager to unveil their grand schemes to their enemies.

"…I guess you're onto something," Dulio admitted, nodding as if a revelation had dawned upon him.

[Oh! The rest of the generators got wiped out with that attack! We can head to Zenosius' tower now! But I think your leader, Aaron, is already on his way there with someone else,] Eliovan conveyed to them.

"Great job, Raynare~!" Gabriel cheered, wrapping Raynare in a tighter hug. "You did great, good girl, good girl!"

Raynare blushed, responding awkwardly, "Y-yeah, you too, Gabriel-sama."

Curious about the fate of the other subordinates, Dulio inquired, [Eliovan, does that mean the others are taken care of, or are they still alive?]

Eliovan clarified, [It seems like they managed to dodge the attack since it lingered in the air for a few seconds. So, we still need to deal with them. However, I'll leave that to the others. Please make your way to the tower. If you're part of the other team, go and search for the items we need. Expect more reinforcements since this is their major weapon manufacturing hub. Phumera should have been notified, but she won't come herself due to prior commitments.]

Raynare inquired, [Is she working with her right-hand to speed up the awakening of their Outer God?]

Eliovan agreed, explaining, [Yeah, that's correct. It holds more importance for her than this place, though opinions within her organization may vary. Also, the other team with Aldrake is still two days away from their destination. Even with the ship Aaron made, it's that far, this also means they're aware of your existence now and will have better defenses in place.]

Raynare absorbed the information, expressing her gratitude. [I see, thank you for letting me know.] She then turned to her team, saying, "Let's move and grab those things before Aaron inevitably blasts this place to kingdom come."

Dulio chuckled, agreeing, "That's true." He turned to his teammate, saying, "Thank you for shielding us—oh, she already fell asleep."

Beside Dulio, Jessica Lagerkvist, supported by Mirana, had already nodded off. She was the one responsible for employing her light shield, saving them from Nocakonith's attack. Exhausted after utilizing her ability, she had succumbed to sleep.

Mirana let out a sigh of defeat as she spoke about their teammate. "She only stays awake during missions or if Aaron-san is involved. Otherwise, she's just way too lazy," she explained.

Dulio nodded in understanding. "Well, she only puts energy into things or people she likes," he remarked before gesturing for his team to follow him. The observation lingered in the air as they moved on to the next task at hand.

Aaron Toole's Soliloquy

— ○ ● ○ —

Down below, it appeared that everyone was gradually overcoming their opponents, but the ongoing struggle was far from over. Reinforcements arrived through ships descending above the planet, and some teleported directly onto the planet's surface, ensuring that the battle persisted.

As our group pressed forward, we hadn't yet reached the room where Zenosius resided. The entire tower was under his control, enabling him to deploy weaker subordinates strategically, seemingly attempting to stall us. It left us wondering about his motives—was he buying time for something, or did he simply not view us as a direct threat worth confronting?

The influence Zenosius exerted over the tower was evident. His manipulation of the surroundings suggested a level of control that extended beyond mere tactical deployment. It added an extra layer of complexity to the challenge we faced, leaving us to navigate both the physical obstacles and the subtle maneuvers orchestrated by the enigmatic figure who held sway over the tower.

Every time we enter a new hall or room, he swiftly alters it, either pushing us back to the starting point or shifting us a couple of meters, just to get under our skin. I've chosen to let Danu handle it, and she expressed her determination to make her way there eventually. If she grows tired of his antics, then I'll finally step in.

Up to now, we've experienced being set back to the starting point a whopping fifteen times, and surprisingly, Danu appears unfazed by it all. However, she does seem perturbed by something else—this entire planet. Perhaps it's because it lacks any hint of "green" in it, a detail that bothers her in a way that goes beyond the repeated setbacks we face.

As we strolled side by side, I offered my help to Danu. "Do you want me to help now?" I inquired.

"No, it's fine. I wish to—" Danu began to say, but her words were abruptly cut off by more subordinates, whom she referred to as "weak," rushing toward us. With a swift hand gesture, she summoned roots from the walls, capturing and subduing them until they passed out.

Even in this situation, Danu remained steadfast in her refusal to personally end their lives, leaving that grim task to me. I had previously discussed the challenges she might encounter here, but she assured me of her capability to take lives. Her decision, however, was more about proving a point to Zenosius, who was likely observing us. Danu aimed to show him that she could reach him without resorting to killing.

It struck me as an unconventional approach, but I refrained from questioning her judgment and let her proceed. And so, another thirty minutes passed in this peculiar dance of restraint and calculated moves.

As the restarts ceased, we advanced through the floors, gradually overcoming the weaker subordinates he tossed our way. Though they ranged from High-class to Satan-class in power, I casually labeled them as "weak." If anyone from our universe heard me categorize individuals within those power brackets as weak, they'd likely be utterly astounded.

The interior of the building struck me as peculiar. It predominantly featured metallic blue hues, interspersed with black and purple. It lacked any distinctive character, giving off an impression of being designed solely for show, akin to mundane corporate offices from my previous life.

"We made it," Danu suddenly exclaimed, pointing ahead of us. The relief in her voice echoed our collective sentiment as we faced whatever awaited us in the next phase of this farce.

Before us stood an exceptionally unique door, and upon a closer look, the entire hallway we found ourselves in appeared significantly more extensive than the others. It gave off the vibe that some kind of spatial magic was at play, enlarging the space and making the door itself appear grander.

As we approached, peculiar symbols adorned the door's surface. Danu tilted her head, clearly puzzled, and asked, "What does it mean? I can only understand some of it."

Examining the symbols, I replied, "It translates to 'Those who challenge the mighty one will inevitably fall to the chaos of our one true god.' I believe they're suggesting that anyone daring to challenge Phumera and her organization is destined to fail, especially with Magnum Tenebrosum backing them up, even if he's currently in a deep slumber."

I rested a hand on her shoulder, posing a question, "Are you ready for this? And do you really want to face him alone initially?"

Danu affirmed with a determined expression, nodding her head. "I am. I want to ask him a few things and hopefully get some answers."

"Alright, best of luck. But remember, if things get dicey, I'll step in. I don't trust anyone from Phumera's organization to fight fair when cornered," I cautioned her. She agreed, and with that understanding, I finally pushed the door—no, kicked it open, sending it flying off its hinges.

The individual named Zenosius appeared utterly stunned by my bold entrance, and so did Danu.

"Hey there, my future wife's got some questions for you," I announced, saluting him cheekily with two fingers. The unexpected encounter hung in the air, poised for whatever revelations might come.
