Chapter 17: Buying The Remaining Skills

[Now, I am legally required to inform everyone watching that this is just our theory. But still, it raises further questions. For instance, how would they go about studying the system of these students? And even if they manage it, wouldn’t it be much easier for each country to investigate their own students? Why bother with the student exchange program?]

[And the answer to these questions is simple enough; a lot of the countries, including ours, are simply not magically advanced enough to do so by ourselves.]

[The only method known to us that can decipher someone’s system is pure observation followed by smart guesswork, and the information obtained is still very vague and unreliable. It is rumored, but not confirmed, that only an extremely advanced mage with a high-level system can view the content of someone else’s system …]

[In addition, out of all the species that use the WST, only a handful try to raise their levels intensively…]

[In our country, the laws regarding the movement of these high-level individuals of other species are pretty strict. There are certain protective restrictions in place that make it almost impossible for them to enter the country. But through this treaty, these laws would be voided and the restrictions would be lifted until further notice.]

[When asked whether the affairs of the WST were discussed, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Samuel, commented that everything is under control and the issue with the WST will be resolved soon enough. He was quick to mention that the meeting had nothing to do with it, and its objective was to simply sign the treaty…]

[Well, it is nothing but my personal opinion, but Mr. Samuel could’ve at least thought of a better lie. Who is he trying to fool! An emergency USDCA meeting to sign a simple freaking treaty!? That’s bullshit— I mean, that’s nonsense! Do they even understand what they are doing by investigating innocent people’s systems? It’s a human rights violation! And a major risk! What if this information gets into the wrong hands!? Who will be held responsible!? God knows what will happen to this country—]

“Jacob…”

Layla calls me all of a sudden, her voice eclipsing the angry reporter. I look away from the TV to ask what’s the matter, but her current expression startles me. There’s a deeply fearful look on her beautiful face and her shoulders are trembling.

“About the System ceremony yesterday…”

This time it is Maya who speaks. She has a similar expression of fear on her face.

“… there is nothing wrong with your system, right?”

[Come on! Hurry up! We will get late!]

Shut your trap for a second!

It’s the next day. Unfortunately, I overslept, resulting in a rush to freshen up and get ready. After all, I don’t wanna be late today.

[But you won’t be able to make it in time! You need to leave right now!]

I am moving as fast as I can! And let me grab the money, we cannot do anything without it!

With a dash towards the bed, I sweep the money lying on top. Then I give one final look around, making sure I am not forgetting anything before running downstairs to the kitchen.

There I see Layla, looking all fine and sexy in an apron making breakfast.

“Layla, I am heading out! I might get late so don’t wait on me for dinner!” I tell her.

“This early? Are you going to Leo’s house?” She asks, intrigued.

“Nah, just to earn some life points,” I reply casually.

“What!?”  Layla cries out in surprise, almost dropping the pan in her hands.

Shit! I shouldn’t have said that!

“But you must’ve gotten quite a few yesterday, no? Why are you going for more?” she asks, suspiciously.

Yesterday’s news seems to have affected Layla quite a bit.

“That’s just…eh… I-I thought it would be better to get them in bulk. You know, so I won’t have to worry about them anytime soon,” I lie nervously.

“In bulk? Jacob… are you sure your system is fine? You told us the truth yesterday, right?” She asks, the fear from last night returning to her eyes.

“Of… Of course not! My system is completely normal! Too normal, in fact!” I lie again.

It doesn’t feel good. It definitely doesn’t. But I cannot let them worry about me. Especially when I cannot even tell them what’s wrong with my system.

“Okay, I believe you. But please try not to miss the dinner, alright? And have some breakfast first,” Layla says, pulling the chair from near the dining table.

“But I am getting late!”

“Nope! You are not going out with an empty stomach! Not on my watch!”  Layla says stubbornly.

“Haa~ okay…”

[I would be so much better if she had said, ‘You are not going out without a quickie! Not on my watch!’]

True, that would have been— get outta here!

After quickly finishing my eggs and bacon, I say goodbye to Layla before sprinting out of the house.

[Should we take the train again? I don’t mind if you use Beast’s scent to pull some more chicks on your dick!]

Yeah, more like getting my ass handed to the police. And what do you think I am going to be doing in a brothel anyway?

[Then… taxi! It would be faster! And if we luckily get a female driver… fufufu!]

The place we are going to is relatively close by, and I don’t wanna bleed my funds on unnecessary stuff…]

[Good point. I, too, firmly believe that money spent towards anything but fucking chicks is money wasted.]

…

[Changing the topic; you heard the news about that new treaty yesterday. Aren’t you worried?]

So, you were listening to that, huh…

But wait…I was wondering, how do you even listen to anything at all? Like, through my ears and brain? Then what about stuff I don’t hear clearly but you do…?

[I can listen similar to how I can talk, dummy. It doesn’t make sense but it does.]

But you cannot talk to anyone other than me, can you? Then why can you hear them?

[…]

…

[…]

Alright, what were you asking? Why am I not worried about the treaty?

Well, I am not gonna lie, it a indeed a bit shocking that the travel restrictions will be lifted. But about the investigation of our systems, it’s just a speculation at this point. Nothing confirmed.

And even if it is true, why should I be scared? I should be happy. I cannot tell anyone about my defective system, but if those qualified people find out about it themselves, I am sure they’ll help me fix you.

You know what, maybe I will try sending them some discreet hints…

[No! Don’t do that!]

…why?

[Just… Just don’t.]

You are hiding something from me…

[Anyway, when will you buy the remaining skills?]

Now you’re trying to change the topic…

[We will reach the brothel any minute now, you know? This is your chance to buy them!]

Just tell me what you’re hiding!

[Your loss then. Fufufu… I can already imagine the hoes laughing at your small willy and refusing your service.]

Buy all the skills right now!

[Okay! Incoming!]

…

[Oh, I forgot to do it the official way again!]

[Do you want to unlock all the three remaining skills?]

*SIGH*

Yes…

[Congratulations! Your stamina, penis length, and semen volume have been upgraded!]

I grab my junk over the pants to confirm.

Hey! It does not seem any bigger at all!

[Man, at least wait till it gets hard first…]

Oh… sorry, I got too excited. Hopefully, I will be more of a grower now.

[Now, now, it’s just one upgrade.]

True, but losing 1,500 points at once still feels wrong. There should be less than 6,000 left now if we deduct the ones that got used up yesterday… It is giving me anxiety…

[Don’t worry too much, we are on our way to earn some more, buddy!]

Yeah…

I increase the speed of my jog unconsciously, and within the next minute, I start seeing the outline of my destination.

[Woah! I thought you were talking about a single brothel but this…!]

I know it’s amazing, right?  This is the biggest freaking red-light district in the city!]

I make my own way through a small gateway, and the moment we enter, different kinds of brothels, bars, strip clubs, and various other sex-related shops come into my view.

[This is heaven on earth!]

Tell me about it, eh?  I always wanted to go and look inside one of these shops, and now I have the reason and means to!

[By the way, why can’t I see any half-naked bimbo with fake tits trying to lure us into their shop? Just where are the damn hoes!?]

It’s morning, what do you expect? Look around, the bimbos won’t come out if the horny crowd is not around. I am one of the only few people around. The girls are probably resting after a long night of work. You should see how lively this place gets once the sun goes down.

[I see… well, good news for us! All the babes must be free! You can choose whomever you like! So, which shop do you think we should try first?]

Hmm…

I look around, my eyes stopping at a familiar name.

The Nux, of course… hehe, it’s the best and the most luxurious brothel out of all!

Let the fun begin…
