Chapter 13 – Promise of Revenge
Gray saw the fist coming a mile away. But he was already confused by so many things he didn’t have the time to dodge it. As a result, Julius’s heavy fist landed right on his solar plexus, sending all the air out of his body and doubling his vision. The bags of gold dropped down from his hand and he fell down to the ground, retching and gagging.
Julius’s foot came a moment later sending him flying back to the ground. His ribs flared in pain, and Gray grabbed his side, looking at the shadow looming over him with tears in his eyes.
“I brought you after your pathetic father abandoned you,” Julius kept a muddy foot on his chest. “I raised you like my own, and this is what I get?”
There were sounds on the stairs and Andria came down. She had worn back her corset, but both her hair and her dress were a mess.
“Julius!” She gave her usual fake smile. “Oh, I’m so glad you are here. This boy! He…he…insulted me.”
Julius’s eyes widened. “What?”
“Yes, yes!” Andria’s eyes suddenly looked confident. “Yes, that’s what happened! He insulted me, called me his…cum slave!”
“NO!” Gray tried to push the man’s foot away but he was too damn heavy. “You had sex with me! You cheated on your husband. You are the fucking traitor-”
Julius’s foot slammed onto his ribs, and Gray gasped as the air left his lungs for a second time. “You dare insult my wife in front of me? Do you know who you are you pathetic little shit? Sia! SIA! Where are you?”
“She’s gone,” Andria said. “I saw her leave. That little whore! This was the plan of her and this boy. To steal our money and run away!”
Gray’s vision was already spinning, but it was still clear enough to see the veins bulging in the noble’s head.
“You fucking prick! I-”
“My lord-”
Gray turned his head weakly to see Lyla standing by the door. There was a bag of groceries fallen down to the floor. She was staring at Gray with ghastly eyes.
“What’s happening?”
“What’s HAPPENING?” Julius pointed a stubby finger at her. “Your slutty daughter and this bastard planned on stealing from me. Were you on this too?”
“W-What? NO! I’d never…wait, Sia is on this too?”
“Yes, and she’s gone,” Andria muttered. “Ran away.”
Something cracked on Lyla’s face. Her chest heaved slowly, and her eyes became distant. She grabbed the door handle for support. “I must go find her….god knows what will happen-”
“Oh, no you won’t!” Julius grinned. “GUARDS!”
He yelled it hard enough to be heard by the entire town. Gray wasn’t surprised when he saw two armored men entering through the gate.
“Run Lyla!” Gray yelled. “I’ll explain everything later-”
Julius kicked him again. Harder this time. And Gray felt something inside him break, and he choked out his spit.
“You fucker,” Julius kicked him again. “See what I do to you. You, grab the maid,” he yelled at the first guard, then beckoned the second one near him. “Strip this bastard off and put him in the basement. I’ll organize a public event for tomorrow. I’ll bring this bastard off and let every bastard in this town throw rocks,” he turned to Lyla. “Your daughter better come home by evening or you’ll be joining the event with him.”
“No,” Gray choked. He tasted something bitter in his mouth, probably blood. “Not her…”
He saw a smile on Andria’s face, and she walked towards Lyla whose face was still looking confused.
“As a mother, you should have raised your daughter better,” she raised her hand and slapped Lyla in the face. A slap strong enough to send the woman’s face twisting to the side. “You dumb bitch!”
“NO!” Gray clawed onto Julius’s foot but immediately felt a guard get hold of him.
“Learn some respect you scum,” he brought his fist straight at his face, and everything went black.

“Is the little dreamer awake?”
Gray opened his eyes. His breath felt labored. Each inhales of air made it feel like someone was choking him. Every nerve in his body wracked in pain. His stomach clawed from the inside and his throat was dry. And despite all of that, he looked down at the little figure starting at him.
“Hello, my herald,” Kitra gave a sly smile. The fairy was just the way Gray had seen the first day, except now she wasn’t wearing any clothes. But Gray was in too much pain to even appreciate her tiny nude figure.
It was all too much to handle. Sia leaving, Andria’s fucking betrayal, and he knew he would never forgive himself if something happened to Lyla. He looked around. He was stripped naked, and he was back at the dark basement. Somehow it looked less scary than before, or Gray probably had gotten used to it.
“Fuck off!” he muttered. It would all be right if the damn fairy hadn’t given him the power. He would still be a slave, but a slave who still had something. “This is all your fault.”
“Awww!” Kitra gave a fake gasp. “Were you hurt, little one?” Then her brows furrowed until she gave a malicious frown. “Did you really think the reason I gave you that blessing was so that you can get out of the situation you were in? Do you think that’s how fairies and their heralds work?”
“I impregnated a woman dammit!” Gray snapped. “I did what you asked.”
“You are my herald,” Kitra fluttered towards him with her tiny wings. “And my orders were to impregnate enough women in this town, not just a single one. But your dreams were different. You wanted to just take revenge on the noble family that insulted you and then run away with your lover. What a happy love story! But did you stop to think even for a moment how you were disobeying my orders?”
Gray remained silent. He hadn’t thought too much about it. Perhaps he was too short-sighted after all.
“I was thinking of a more painful punishment, but then I decided bringing in the nobleman was the best choice.”
“What?” Gray snapped.
“Do you think the nobleman appearing at the door just when you were running away with the gold was a coincidence?” Kitra fluttered around him. “Us fairies have our own tricks. And we like using those tricks to punish bad heralds.”
Gray tried to raise her arm to squish the little bug, but his body was already too weak.
“You fucking bitch!” He gritted his teeth. “And to think-”
“SILENCE!” her voice thundered in a high pitch, and everybody in Gray’s body flared up in pain.
“Aaargh!” Gray grabbed his side and fell to the ground. He felt tears in his eyes, and blood in his mouth. It was like Julius slamming his foot onto him over and over again. “Please….”
“You will first learn respect!” Kitra’s voice now echoed inside his head. It was amplified, and each time she talked it felt like a hundred of her voices were following it. “And then you will throw away those naive dreams of yours of running away and living happily with a single woman. Do you think this power of yours is some joke? No! It is a duty. You will impregnate enough women in this town, and then this kingdom, so that the nation of Adula will have a prosperous future! I want an army of men and women, a future generation raised from my blessing and your blood, strong enough to bring any other kingdom down to the ground and raise hell through the continents. And to raise that army,” her voice became low again. The pain subsided slowly. Gray heard her voice near his ear again. “You will work for me. Do you agree, my herald?”
Gray wiped the tears from his eyes. Anger and bitterness clawed at him. He still had a chance. If Sia ran away, fuck that, he will always have a chance of finding her. But first, there were other things to do.
“Give me my revenge,” he glared at the fairy, refusing to back down. “Give me a way to humiliate the people who betrayed me and hurt me and I promise, I’ll do what you say without any questions.”
Kitra smiled at that. “You will.”
She fluttered towards her mouth until her little breast was just near his lips. “Drink from me, and I’ll teach you a few tricks that come along with your power.”
Gray stuck out his tongue and touched her little nipple. It felt smaller than a pebble, but the moment he felt the familiar sensation of it, he tasted something sweet in his mouth. He sucked in giddily. It felt cold, and it moved through his tongue down to his throat until it felt like the same nerves that screamed in pain were now screaming with a sudden energy.
“My herald,” Kitra’s eyes looked almost motherly. She kept her tiny palm on Gray’s face. “See? I don’t want you hurt. And insulting a herald is considered as an insult to the fairy, so it is time we had our sweet revenge.”
