Chapter 543: Uriel’s Lie

FUSHHH!!! BOOM! BOOM!

Blood! Screams! Fire! EXPLOSIONS!

My sister was a one-dragon army of pure, unrestrained chaos. Her claws rended steel like it was paper. Her tail shattered shields and shattered spines. Her breath was a torrent of dragonfire that melted armor and cooked knights inside their own metal shells. She was beautiful, terrifying, and utterly, gloriously deadly.

Yes, Vicky had no experience in fighting, but with her new dragon body, raw power and rage were more than enough. She was a natural.

Me?

I was a whirlwind of crimson death. I didn't use flashy spells or complex maneuvers. I just... killed. My fists, my feet, my teeth, my claws—they were all weapons. I moved through their ranks like a ghost, a blur of black and red, leaving a trail of broken bodies and spilled blood.

I grabbed one knight's head and twisted it. His neck snapped with a satisfying crunch. I kicked another, my foot crushing his chest plate, my heel driving through his ribcage and into his heart. I even used a tail made from blood, lashing out to trip two knights and then stomping on their heads while they were down.

Sigh... I tried to save as much of the knights' gear as possible. Their armor was quite well-made, but with the way Vicky was tearing them apart, it was hard.

I guess I won't be able to salvage many. Maybe even less than a thousand.

However,

We were having so much fun, lost in the symphony of slaughter, that we almost forgot about the main event.

Anyway, the Gray Knights were, as Herma said, flawed, incomplete. They were strong, yes, but they lacked the true power, the true purpose of my Crimson Sentinels. They were hollow copies, empty shells.

The reason actually surprised me a little, but I guess I shouldn't be. That holy bitch Uriel is a bigger hypocrite than I am.

She is a 'GODDESS OF LIGHT,' a beacon of 'HOLINESS' and 'PURITY.'

And yet she was mass-producing weak soldiers using Lilith's formula.

The formula that Lilith stole was incomplete, yes, but it can produce super soldiers if Uriel used a little bit of her divine concept.

But she didn't. At least, not for these knights.

From the memories of a knight I slayed, Herma was able to 'see' the whole process.

To create a Holy Knight, aside from choosing the right candidates, one needed to undergo a strict training regimen and a series of magical rituals. And then they had to be baptized in the Holy Light of Uriel.

Uriel's Tear.

That's what they call the liquid. It's a small amount of Uriel's divine power mixed with holy water and a few other secret ingredients.

It's what gives and evolves normal humans into these seven-foot-tall holy knights.

The problem is, Uriel's Tear is fake.

I saw Uriel in Nexus City when I went to upgrade my goddess rank. Herma was able to catch her divine signature before I lost my cool, charging like a maniac, and those nine death gods had to teleport me away to save me.

But the divine signature that came from these knights and Uriel's Tear in the memories is different.

Only 50–60% similar.

It's like the divinity that was used to make the holy knights didn't come from Uriel, but from someone else. Someone close to Uriel in blood, maybe?

'Wait a second!' I froze mid-swing, my blood-claws inches from a knight's throat. 'If I recall correctly, gods create mortal worlds, and the primordials create divine worlds, right, Herma?'

[Yes, that is correct] Herma confirmed. [But from what I gathered in the Nexus, primordials creating divine worlds is extremely rare due to how taxing it is.]

'Of course, creating a world where the natives have a spark of divinity is hard,' I thought, my mind racing. 'But the more important question is... did Uriel create a divine world? And if she did, could one of her creations be the source of this fake holy light?'

[I... cannot confirm nor deny] Herma's tone shifted slightly, a rare hint of uncertainty. [But it is a possibility. A primordial's direct creation would contain a potent, if diluted, form of their essence. It could explain the similarity, and the disparity—a diluted signature.]

Wooosh!

I decapitated the knight, my mind still reeling from this revelation. This was huge. If Uriel had created a divine world, a world of beings infused with a fraction of her power, then she had an army waiting in the wings. An army of divine beings, not mere soldiers.

'Herma, I have a suspicion I would like to share,' I mentally sent.

[Go ahead.]

"The god that humans of this world worship isn't Uriel... it is a creation of hers," I stated.

[That... is a very bold claim, Morgana] Herma's voice was slow, measured. [But it does explain some things. Uriel is a primordial; her power is immense. Failing to claim this world as her own didn't make sense, and it would be a huge blow to her pride. Creating a lesser god to act as her proxy would be a logical solution—a god she can control, a god who is an extension of her will.]

[Moreover, this world doesn't look like it has huge value. It makes more sense for her to let a pawn handle it while she focuses on more important matters.]

'So we're dealing with a doll made by a holy pigeon,' I thought, a grin spreading across my face. 'This just got a whole lot more interesting.'

I finished off the last knight on my side of the camp, his body slumping to the ground with a wet thud. I looked over at Vicky. She had already torn through the remaining knights on her side. She was standing amidst a pile of corpses, her dragon form covered in blood and gore, her chest heaving.

"Since we are dealing with a doll," I began, my voice a low purr, "I think switching to a more... offensive plan is in order."

[I don't recommend it, Morgana,] Herma warned. [We need to confirm it first, and if it's true, we still know very little about this 'god' and its capabilities.]

"What do you mean?" I asked, my brow furrowed.

[Think about it, Morgana] Herma's voice was calm, logical. [If this 'god' is a creation of Uriel's, it would be loyal to her. And it would have access to her power, at least to some extent. It would be a formidable foe. We need to be cautious.]

"Cautious?" I laughed, a dark, dismissive sound. "Herma, when have I ever been cautious?"

[...]

"Besides, think about it," I continued, my mind racing. "Uriel coming to check on things, only to find her 'god' with a round belly filled with my children... the look on her face would be priceless."

[...You're impossible.] Herma sighed, a sound of pure exasperation. [But your plan has a certain... appeal. I can't deny that.]

"I know, right?" I grinned, turning back to Vicky. "Change of plans, sis."

"Oh? And here I was having fun," Vicky said, her draconic voice laced with a hint of disappointment. She had just ripped a knight in half, her claws dripping with blood.

"We're still having fun," I purred, my eyes locking onto hers. "But I want to play with the big toy now."

"The big toy?" Vicky asked, her crimson eyes narrowing.

"Yes, a big toy, so speed up things, will you?" I said, my lips curling into a wicked grin. "And leave the chapel for me. I want to 'talk' to their god."

"Talking with your pussy as always," Vicky snorted, a small puff of smoke escaping her nostrils. "You never change."

"Why would I?" I laughed, my gaze drifting towards the small, prefabricated chapel. "It's my most effective method of communication."

"Fine, fine," Vicky sighed, her tail lashing impatiently. "But if I break your new toy, it's not my fault."

"I'll find a new one," I said, my voice a low, seductive murmur. "Now go. I'll catch up with you later."

"..."

She didn't need to be told twice. With a final, bone-shaking roar, Vicky turned her attention to the remaining knights who were huddling near the wyvern, their faces pale with terror.

"YOUR GOD CAN'T SAVE YOU NOW!" she roared, her claws glinting in the firelight.

The wyvern, sensing the imminent threat, broke free from its chains with a deafening roar of its own. It was a magnificent creature, its scales the color of dried blood, its wings unfurling to reveal their impressive span.

"Oh? You want to play too?" Vicky grinned, her fangs bared. "Good."

She lunged forward, a blur of black scales and fire. The wyvern met her charge, its jaws snapping shut inches from her face. Vicky dodged, her movements surprisingly agile for her size, her claws raking across the wyvern's flank, leaving deep, bleeding gashes in its wake.

The battle was a brutal, chaotic dance of claws and teeth. The wyvern was powerful, its jaws capable of crushing bone, its tail a whip that could shatter stone. But Vicky was faster, more agile, her draconic rage fueling her every move.

She did make some mistakes, but fortunately, her scales were tougher than the wyvern's teeth and claws. Additionally, dragons have a high magical resistance; not a single holy magic had any effect on her. They just made her scales shimmer slightly.

'Her battle instincts are good for a beginner,' I thought with some pride.

Vicky was in her full strength, unlike me, who was limiting her body to a mortal form. After all, I wanted to savor this little hunt.

"Now, let's see who's in charge here," I purred, my gaze fixed on the chapel. "I hope it's a cute one."
