27: Solution
"Oh, Mister was in the same orphanage as me," But while Adam was thinking Ai already fired the answer like she was ready.
"I see," Ichigo didn't know what more to say to that, this was way before he met Ai himself.
'If that is true then, President not knowing him makes sense, but…' Aqua was analyzing the information and he found something odd.
"Why do you call him Mister then? Shouldn't he be around the same age as you?" Miyako voiced out Aqua's question and…
'She'll be busted at this rate,' Adam thought but he was wrong because….
"That's because Mister is ten years older than me, he took care of me in the orphanage, so I still call him Mister till now," Ai answered with a wink.
'I see, Ai was very young when she was sent to the orphanage. So, she called an older male who helped her 'Mister' it is normal for her age at the time, It makes sense,' Aqua deducted and found no problem with this and it wasn't only her.
"Yeah, I guess that can happen," Miyako could also see the reasoning.
'She's too good, isn't she?' Adam thought while looking at Ai who smiled looking at him, she made that lie up so naturally that no one was able to find a crack in it.
That was until…
"What have you been doing till now? You and Ai seem close so why didn't you come till now?" Ichigo asked as he was looking at Adam very carefully.
'Did you see her get famous and come here to mooch off her?' Ichigo had seen this happen very often in the entertainment industry.
This has happened even in the Idol Group B-Komachi that he was managing, some 'friends' of a few members of the group contacted them.
Some were just asking for some chances to boost their own popularity using them or some were trying to blackmail them into getting favors.
'But I've dealt with them all in order to make sure the group doesn't fall apart,' So, Ichigo was no stranger to such 'friends' that pop out of the woodwork when someone becomes famous.
"Well, I left the orphanage when I was 18 and went to America when I was 22, I couldn't stay in touch with Ai after that, But when I came back I thought contacting her to see how she was doing, I didn't know that she became an idol much less a mother of two kids, It was quite shocking," Adam said as he was thinking what else he should add to that but then Ai came to assist once again.
"It was good that I still had the phone you bought for me, so that I can keep in touch with you after you left, you even delayed leaving the orphanage for me," Ai smiled and it became clear to most of them.
'He really took good care of her, didn't he?' It seemed that Adam was planning on leaving the orphanage sooner but didn't leave because Ai arrived.
'He seems like a good person, he took care of Ai when she was alone after all,' Aqua was fully convinced now as he nodded while folding his arms.
'He doesn't seem that bad, he took care of Mama,' Ruby was also of the same thought as she started to not look at Adam with hostility.
'Hmm, he went out of contact with Ai and left for America just a little before I recruited Ai, He doesn't seem to be lying about not knowing that she was an idol as well,' Ichigo was also thinking along the same line, Adam didn't look that suspicious anymore as things seem to match up.
"Did you come back alone?" Ichigo asked as now that there were no suspicions, he wanted to know more about Adam since he was close to Ai.
"Ah, Yeah?" Adam looked unsure what Ichigo was asking here but…
"What he means to ask is did you come back alone or with your family," Miyako said and they could see how Adam realized it just now.
"Well, I haven't married yet," Adam said with an awkward laugh.
"Ah, I see, you must've been busy with your work," Ichigo nodded in understanding he could totally understand it, his own first marriage broke apart because he was too busy with work.
'That is normal indeed,' Aqua thought as well but his sister had other thoughts.
'He almost deceived me! He is after Mama, after all. Well, I can't blame him since Mama is so beautiful, but I will not let it happen!!' Ruby shouted in her mind while….
'Even that kid thinks I am pathetic. Does she know that I couldn't find a wife for 8000 years? Well, I couldn't do anything since I couldn't find any women there, Literally.' Adam could only drink his tears till another question was thrown his way.
"What work did you do in America?" Ichigo asked this question with no bad intentions, right now he was kind of feeling a kinship between himself and Adam after he heard about the latter's circumstances.
'What do I tell him? What is the most normal-sounding thing that I learned in that world that I can use as a job in a normal world?' But this harmless question was quite a mountain for Adam to climb since he had to comb through many things he had learned in the other world to come to an answer that wouldn't sound weird.
But it didn't take long till he arrived at the answer.
"I was a chef," Adam answered and…
"Oh, so you came back to open your own restaurant back home, that's good, When you do you have to invite us," Ichigo nodded with a satisfied smile since things made more sense now.
"Well, I am still thinking about it since I still have much to learn," Adam said as he tried to turn the topic, he had no plans on opening a restaurant or anything, but things just developed this way.
The saying, To cover up one lie you have to tell a hundred more, was really on point.
"You shouldn't be like that, if you think like that you might let the chance slip by, I thought the same before starting my agency but bit my tongue and went for it, now look at it," Ichigo was really enjoying this talk while Adam didn't want to continue, and once again Ai helped him…
"Hmm? Something is burning?" Adam said and...
"Oh no, I forgot about the chicken!!" Ai ran straight for the kitchen in panic and opened the Oven after wearing the mitts, and she was invited by a burst of black smoke as she tried to take out the tray that was placed inside.
"Cough* Ow," Ai coughed and the tray slipped from her hands, but the danger wasn't over as the hot tray was about to hit her legs.
BANG*
"Ai! Are you ok?" Miyako rushed in with Ichigo after hearing the heavy sound if something falling but they were greeted with the sight of Adam hugging Ai from behind.
Or more like pulling Ai back.
Adam also rushed after Ai when she ran after noticing the burning smell.
They all thought that it was a chef's instinct when he smelled something burning but…
"You are really clumsy," Adam let go of the stunned Ai and wore the other pair of mitts to take care of the mess.
To everyone, it seemed like Adam was already aware of this side of Ai.
"A-Ahaha, thanks mister you really saved me there, it was about to drop on my feet," Ai laughed but…
"Why can't you be more careful you shitty idol? Do you know how much trouble we'd be in if you had burned your feet? Do you have any idea?" Ichigo started to shout at Ai since this could've been really bad.
"W-Well Mister saved me so it is all good," Ai waved her hands but still got blasted by Ichigo.
'Did Ai get scared that she nearly hurt herself?' Aqua thought while noticing the panic on Ai's face, it wouldn't be unnatural considering she is an Idol and a burn scar like this could do major damage to her career but, 'But, why do I feel that there is something amiss?'
'Unforgivable!! How can he hug Mama like that? I need to do something before he puts his dirty claws on Mama,' Ruby was frowning unhappily, she did not like what Adam had done and was glaring at him.
It was until she found the solution to her problem.
"Do you need some help?" Miyako asked Adam with a smile as he was cleaning up the mess on the floor.
"Ah, Yes, please open the window it would be bad if the kid's breath in the smoke," Adam said and Miyako nodded then went ahead to open the window in the kitchen.
'I've found it! The way to get him away from Mama,' Ruby seemed to have found a way to keep Adam away from Ai.
