Aster Flowers
Well, if I’m this close to a level-up for my sexual level, I might as well masturbate in a bit. I don’t want to do it right away, because my SP aren’t full, but in a while. And now, about how to spend my afternoons. If I do end up staying in this village, I should probably have something to do aside from having sex and doing weapon training. I should ask Amelia. I should also probably get to know people other than Amelia.
“Amelia, what do people normally do in this village? I’m trying to think of some way to spend my afternoons once weapon training finishes.”
“Well, most of the men are farmers. We pay taxes to the lord of this area, and our main form of income is through the farming. Some families are bakers, tavern-owners, or ale-makers, though. There’s also the blacksmith’s and the butcher’s. The womenfolk do sewing, mending, and cooking. Our parents-that is, me, Kass’s, and our sister Manda’s- died a few years back, and our lands ended up being taken over by another family. Kass ended up the apprentice to Mr. Ostenfeld- he’s the blacksmith. Unfortunately, that’s a fringe case. Most people just inherit their family business.”
“So I can’t exactly find a job.”
“You might be able to do some handicrafts, like sewing or embroidery.”
“Well, I was always pretty good with my hands. Could you teach me a little embroidery?”
“Sure. I’ve got a spare hoop and needle. So, this is a running stitch…”
After a good while, Lilith pricked her finger, drawing forth a red dot of blood. “Ow!” Wait a minute, this is a learning experience. Casting her [Healing Touch] skill, her finger glowed golden, as she felt the skin shifting. Once the glow subsided, she rubbed off the blood, seeing her finger fully healed. “Good, my healing works.”
“Healing magic, too? Is there anything you can’t do?”
“Good question. I’m planning on using my magic to help in the raid against the goblins, but I also want to keep it hidden. So I’m not sure what to do. Hiding it until the raid might work, but if I let someone know then we’d be able to plan around my magic. For now, can we do a bit more embroidery? I think I’ve got the basics down, and I want to try and make a little design.”
“Sure. But we should talk about this later.”
“Got it.”
After a few minutes, Lilith had made a small flower design- an aster flower, one of her favorites from her past life. Setting the needle down, she saw a small pop-up.
New skill learned! [Embroidery]
Embroidery
Type: Job/Handicrafts
Level: 1 (0%)
Ability to embroider and create works of art with embroidery. Improves with usage.
Level: 2
Ability to embroider and create works of art with embroidery. Improves with usage. Able to replicate simple designs.
So there are job skills too. I guess this one only levels up once I actually finish creating something. I want to try and make some more flowers, to see how much it increases by. Picking up her needle and hoop once more, she started working again. Soon enough, her aster flower was joined by a second, and then a third. Setting down the hoop to look at her skill, it had only increased to 66%. Just like with sex, repeating simple things has a hell of a level curve. Picking up the hoop, she turned to show Amelia. “I made a pair of flowers!”
“Are those flowers from your world?”
“Yeah. I used to live in a big city, but I always tried to grow a few aster flowers wherever I went. They’re called asters- they’re one of my favorite flowers.”
“They’re lovely.”
“I know. Oh.”
“What?”
“I just realized I might never see aster flowers again. They might not exist in this world. It’s-it’s funny, you know? It’s the little things. There aren’t many people I miss from my past life, but these flowers-” She went on, tears rolling down her face- “These flowers have been with me my entire life- I brought them with me my entire life- And now I’ll never see them, really see them, not just a memory or pattern- ever again.” For the first time, Lilith was crying-really crying- since she had entered this world, and the weight of her loss truly hit her. As she continued crying, feeling a grief unfelt by anyone in this world or her last one, she felt Amelia embrace her.
