Chapter 494. Limbs

Seven Sins System Chapter 494. Limbs

I waved her concern off. “Rules, rules. You’ve been a goddess for how many centuries now? Surely you’ve bent a rule or two in your time.”

She pursed her lips, clearly fighting the urge to argue further. But after a moment, she sighed and sat back down, crossing her legs as she placed the paper bag on her lap. “Fine,” she muttered, almost begrudgingly.

I smirked, watching her with amusement. “See? That wasn’t so hard, was it?”

We ate in silence, but it wasn’t the kind of silence that felt awkward or strained. It was comfortable, almost peaceful. For two beings who’d spent centuries on opposite sides, we had settled into an odd sort of rhythm. Neither of us felt the need to fill the space with words, and for once, I didn’t feel the urge to tease her. It was just us, sharing a meal.

What puzzled me, though, was the absence of Penelope. Normally, Penelope would have shown up by now to deliver my schedule. Not that I needed her to; I could easily check it on my phone. But Penelope liked the excuse of bringing it in person, mostly so she could get close enough to sniff my neck and wrist, which she did every chance she got. I had no doubt that Red was behind her absence today.

We finished breakfast in silence, and as I stood up to clear the small mess we’d made, I glanced at Puriel, who hadn’t moved from her seat. She was still here, her presence lingering in the infirmary as I got back to work. I didn’t mind; I was used to her watching, even if she didn’t always say much.

My tentacles moved to the supply cabinet, extending and curling around the shelves, pulling out boxes of medical supplies to check what we had in stock. It was routine, something I could do without thinking.

I could feel Puriel’s gaze on me. She was staring at my tentacles, her expression unreadable, her eyes following their movements as they checked the medicine. At first, I thought she was simply bored, watching me out of lack of anything better to do. But then, out of nowhere, she spoke.

“It’s weird…” she muttered, her voice soft, almost as if she were talking to herself.

I glanced at her, one eyebrow raised. “Weird?” I repeated, not pausing in my work.

She nodded slowly, still staring at the tentacles. “Yes,” she said, her voice thoughtful. “I used to see them as tools for fighting. Weapons. But now… now I see them differently. They’re not just tools. They’re… limbs.” She seemed almost surprised by her own admission.

I chuckled softly, amused by her realization. “Well, they are limbs,” I said, grabbing another box of supplies with one of my tentacles and setting it aside. “They’ve always been a part of me. Not just for combat.”

She frowned slightly, as if she hadn’t considered that before. “I know that,” she replied, her voice quieter now. “But I’ve never thought of them as anything beyond tools of destruction. It’s strange to see them used like this. For something… mundane.”

I smirked, turning my attention back to my task. “You angels always see things so black and white. Everything’s either good or evil, a weapon or a tool. But there’s more to it than that.”

Her gaze remained fixed on the tentacles. “Maybe,” she said after a long pause. “But seeing you use them like this… it’s unsettling.”

I stopped for a moment, turning to face her fully. "Unsettling?" I repeated, raising an eyebrow. "Why?"

There was something in her expression—confusion, perhaps, or maybe a bit of curiosity. She hadn’t quite put her feelings into words yet, and I could see she was struggling with it.

“They’re… living,” she said finally, her voice soft, almost uncertain. “It’s hard to explain.”

I chuckled softly, turning back to the list in my hand and continuing my work. My tentacles moved fluidly, efficiently sorting through the medicine supply.

“I think I get it,” I said, glancing at her over my shoulder. “Is that why you're so disgusted by my tentacles?”

Puriel hesitated, her gaze dropping to the floor for a moment before she spoke. “Yes,” she said quietly. “I’ve always seen them as weapons… or tools to... rape.”

I froze, turning around fully this time. The smile dropped from my face. “Pardon me?” I said, frowning. “Rape? Is that what you think I do?”

She didn’t meet my eyes. “I’ve seen what devils do,” she muttered, her voice low. “I know the stories, the things your kind is known for.”

I scoffed. “I’ve never raped anyone. Ever. With my status, I don’t need to. They throw themselves at me.” I waved a hand dismissively. “You know that. I don’t need to resort to anything like that,” I stated.

Puriel finally looked up at me, her expression a mixture of apology and something else—uncertainty, maybe. “I’m not saying you have,” she said softly, but her voice still carried the weight of her earlier accusation. “But that’s how I’ve always seen it. Your kind… you take what you want.”

I felt my jaw clench as I struggled to keep my temper in check. “Do you really think that all I have in my head is sex?” I asked, my voice a little sharper than I intended. “That every time I use my tentacles, it’s to... violate someone?”

She didn’t answer right away, and her silence told me more than her words ever could.

I turned away, my fingers tapping lightly against the cabinet in frustration. “Killing and torturing sinners is far more fun than that, if you must know,” I said, my voice cold. “Sex is just another game. A distraction. But making someone scream for their sins? Now that’s enjoyable.”

Puriel’s expression tightened, and I could feel her discomfort rising. “You say that so casually,” she murmured, shaking her head slightly. “Like hurting people, making them suffer, is just another part of your day. You talk about it as if there’s no weight to it.”
