Chapter 475. Two Torches

Seven Sins System Chapter 475. Two Torches

Puriel’s PoV

It didn’t make any sense. It went against everything she knew about him, everything she had come to expect. But it also explained something else, something that had been bothering her ever since she first received the original necklace. If he had used holy water on this necklace, then he must have done the same thing in the past. The old necklace—her first one—must have been purified in the same way.

Her mind reeled. “He’s done this before,” she realized, her voice trembling with the revelation. “He must have… back then, too.” Her heart pounded in her chest, her thoughts racing as she tried to piece it all together. It all began to make sense now—the strange absence of any dark energy in the original necklace, the way he had always been so careful around her, even when they were children. The way he had watched her back then, and even now, with an intensity that went beyond mere curiosity or rivalry. He had always been different with her, hadn't he?

But if he had purified the old necklace, he couldn’t have used her holy water. They hadn’t been in contact then, not the way they were now. “Did he… ask the mortals for the holy water?” she guessed aloud, her voice tinged with disbelief.

The idea seemed almost absurd. A young devil, standing before a priest, asking for holy water—of all things—just to neutralize a necklace? It was almost laughable, the sheer audacity of it. But then again… it was exactly the kind of thing Azrael would do.

She couldn’t help but smile at the thought, a small, almost shy smile that spread across her lips. There was something oddly endearing about it, something that warmed her heart in a way she hadn’t expected. Maybe, just maybe, he hadn’t always seen her as a pet. Perhaps, over time, he had come to see her as something more—a friend, perhaps. Someone he cared about, even if he didn’t fully understand those feelings himself.

The smile lingered on her lips, and for a moment, she allowed herself to feel a flicker of happiness. It was fragile, but it was there. She knew she shouldn’t be feeling this way—knew that it was dangerous to let herself get too close to him, to let her guard down. But she couldn’t help it. The idea that he had gone to such lengths, that he had endured the pain of holy water just to give her something… it meant something to her.

She knew she had to do something in return. Something to show him that she understood, that she appreciated what he had done. Her mind raced, trying to think of what she could do, how she could repay him for his unexpected kindness. And then she remembered his wound—the burn on his hand, the angry, red mark that she had seen earlier.

‘A bandage!’

It wasn’t much, but it was a start. A way to show him that she cared, that she was grateful for what he had done.

She didn’t have much. Her divine healing skills were useless on a devil like Azrael. Holy powers did not mend wounds inflicted by holy objects on demons; they only prolonged the pain. And as much as she wanted to heal him, she knew she couldn't. But a bandage—something simple, something human—should do the trick. It wouldn't heal him instantly, but it could cover the wound, keep it clean, and at least make it easier for him until his body healed on its own.

She remembered she still had a bandage in her dorm room, tucked away in a drawer.

Without wasting another second, she opened a portal and stepped through. In an instant, she was standing in her dorm room. She moved quickly, her hands fumbling through the drawer until she found what she was looking for. A roll of bandage, still sealed and clean. She grabbed it, holding it tightly in her hand.

She used her teleportation skill to the rooftop of a building across from Azrael's dorm window. She chose her location carefully. The last thing she wanted was to catch Azrael in a compromising situation; he had a tendency to walk around his room naked, unconcerned with who might be watching. She had no desire to be labeled a pervert or give him another reason to tease her.

But when she looked through the window, ready to make her presence known, her smile faded.

Inside, she could see Red standing close to Azrael. Too close. The red-haired vampire's hands were on him, her fingers brushing lightly over the bandage she had wrapped around his hand. There was a look of concern in her eyes. It was almost tender.

Azrael was sitting on a chair, his posture relaxed, his head tilted slightly as he spoke to her. There was a softness in his face, a look that Puriel had seen only a few times—a look reserved for those he truly cared about.

The sight of them together sent a sharp pang through Puriel's chest. She knew Red was one of his loyal servants, had known her as the strongest vampire, powerful and devoted. But seeing her so close to Azrael, touching him with such familiarity, with such care… it hurt in a way she hadn’t expected.

‘Why does this bother me so much?’ Puriel wondered, her chest tightening. The sight sent a wave of jealousy coursing through her veins. It didn’t make any sense. She knew Red was his servant, knew their relationship was built on loyalty and centuries of shared battles. And yet… seeing them like this, so comfortable with each other, so close, made something inside her twist painfully.

She took a step back from the edge of the rooftop, her breath hitching as she tried to steady herself. ‘Why should I care?’ she asked herself, her thoughts spiraling into confusion. ‘He’s a devil. I’m a goddess. We’re supposed to be enemies.’ And yet, here she was, standing in the shadows, feeling an ache she couldn’t quite name.
