Chapter 462. Fresh Air

Seven Sins System Chapter 462. Fresh Air

With that, she headed toward the door, her steps light and unhurried. She didn’t say anything more, and I appreciated that. There was nothing else to be said, not right now. As she reached the door, she paused and turned back to me, her hand resting on the doorknob.

“Just... don’t be too hard on yourself, okay?” she said softly. “You’re allowed to have these feelings. It doesn’t make you weak. It just makes you... well, it makes you real.”

I didn’t have a response to that, so I just nodded, letting the words settle into the cracks of my doubts.

Julia smiled once more, then quietly left the room, closing the door behind her with a soft click.

The room fell into a deep, oppressive silence after Julia left. I remained seated in my chair, leaning back with a heavy sigh, my mind drifting aimlessly. Despite the stillness around me, my thoughts were anything but calm. They churned and twisted in an endless loop of worry, doubt, and frustration, refusing to settle or give me any peace.

I tried to shake it off, to push it all away, but the harder I tried, the more entrenched these thoughts became.

I let out a low growl of irritation and dropped my head onto the table with a dull thud. “Why is a devil like me tortured by this?” I muttered to myself.

It didn’t make any sense. I had faced down ancient demons, survived wars, and won the trials that could have put me in a coma for centuries. Yet here I was, completely unraveled by emotions I didn’t understand, stuck in a mental labyrinth with no clear way out.

I glanced at the clock, noting that it was almost 7 PM. ‘I wonder when Red will come,’ I thought, though the thought didn’t bring the excitement it usually would.

It felt strange, unnatural even, that I wasn’t eagerly anticipating her arrival. After all, she was one of my most loyal servants, someone who had always been there when I needed her. But right now, even the thought of her presence wasn’t enough to pull me out of this funk.

I straightened my posture lazily. ‘I have to do something to fix my mood first,’ I mused. It would be disastrous if Red arrived and found me in this state—distracted, unfocused, and worse, unable to perform the contract. The mere idea of it triggered the anxiety. If I couldn’t get an erection because my mind was preoccupied, Red might think I was impotent.

I couldn’t let that happen. I needed to get my head back in the game, to regain control over myself and the situation. But how? That was the question. What could I do to pull myself out of this pit of doubt and confusion?

I rubbed my temples, trying to massage away the tension that had taken root there. Maybe I could distract myself with something simple, something that didn’t require too much thought. I considered the usual options—training, a quick sparring session, or even a trip to the library to lose myself in some obscure text. But none of those options felt right.

They wouldn’t address the core of the problem, and deep down, I knew that. I needed something more than just pacing around my room, wallowing in the mess of thoughts that refused to leave me alone. “Maybe more fresh air will make me feel better,” I muttered to myself, though I knew that simply walking around the dorm wasn’t going to cut it. I needed something more—something that could clear my head, force me out of this mental spiral.

I wanted to go somewhere far, somewhere remote where I could lose myself in the thrill of the hunt and the satisfaction of battle. Maybe I could find a high-level monster to tear apart and feast on. The thought made my smirk widen.

“Well, that sounds like a good idea,” I muttered to myself, already feeling a spark of excitement. The thought of a bloody battle, the kind that left my enemies broken and bleeding at my feet, was exactly what I needed to pull myself out of this funk.

I stood up from my chair, my resolve hardening. Without wasting any more time, I snapped my fingers, and a swirling vortex of dark energy materialized in front of me.

[A portal has opened.]

I stepped inside and transitioned from one place to another. As I did, I allowed my true form to emerge—six dark wings unfurled from my back, and my horns curled upward. My six tentacles slithered around me, eager and restless, as if they could sense the violence to come.

The portal opened into a remote forest, high in the mountains where few mortals dared to tread. The trees were tall and ancient, their branches stretching out like gnarled hands toward the sky. The forest wasn’t dense; I could still see patches of sky between the treetops. The air was cool, almost biting, as it often was at high altitudes, and it carried with it the scent of pine and earth.

But there was something else in the air—something that sent a jolt of excitement through me. The forest was alive with the presence of monsters, their eyes glowing in the darkness, watching me from the shadows. I could feel their hunger, their anticipation, and it mirrored my own. They were drawn to my power, and I welcomed their challenge.
