Chapter 424. Autopilot
Seven Sins System Chapter 424. Autopilot
I woke up lazily, scratching my head even though it didn’t itch. My face was set in a grumpy scowl as I swung my legs over the side of the bed and stood up.
My eyes fell on my scattered clothes, strewn across the room in the aftermath of last night’s exhaustion.
I walked over, picking up my almost new jacket. It was covered in scratches, a casualty from when those goons had dragged me around a few days ago.
I frowned at it, running my fingers over the damaged fabric.
“Ah, right. I should make them pay the reparation fee for this,” I grumbled to myself, but I knew I didn’t have time for that.
Instead, I decided to use my Devil’s Craft skill.
The fabric shimmered and shifted, the scratches and tears mending themselves seamlessly. The jacket transformed, taking on a new design with a touch of the shadow realm’s aesthetic—darker, more intricate, and somehow more imposing.
“Much better,” I muttered, admiring the result. I hoped the mortals wouldn’t find the design too strange.
With a snap of my fingers, I activated my Telekinesis skill, watching as my invisible power lifted all my dirty clothes and carried them to the laundry basket. It was a small convenience, but one that saved me a bit of effort.
I walked into the bathroom, the tile cooled under my feet, and grabbed my toothbrush. As I brushed my teeth, I stared at my reflection in the mirror.
My eyes were tired, and there were dark circles under them. The last few days had taken their toll, and it showed. I splashed some water on my face, the cold shock waking me up a bit more.
After finishing up in the bathroom, I grabbed a T-shirt and a pair of sweatpants from my dresser. I also sprayed some cologne on my body, a special blend that the trio had convinced me to buy. It was famous among gym lovers, and since I hadn’t showered in a few days, I hoped it would help mask the odor.
I slipped on my shoes and tied the laces. With a final glance around my dorm room, I stepped out into the cool morning air.
The academy was still quiet. The sun was just beginning to rise, casting long shadows and bathing everything in a soft, golden light.
Jogging in the morning had become part of my routine. As a devil, it seemed almost comical—running around like a desperate mortal just to feel more awake.
Ha! The thought made me chuckle.
But hey, I wouldn't be in this pathetic realm for long, so why not enjoy the small absurdities?
The path to the park was familiar, my feet moving on autopilot. Arriving at the park, I took a deep breath, the crisp air filling my lungs. I did some quick stretches, feeling the tension in my muscles ease slightly.
I started jogging and noticed a few students here and there, giving me a nod of recognition. My double had kept up this routine in my absence, ensuring no one noticed I was missing for the past few days. It was a clever move, blending in seamlessly. The difference now was subtle. I had mentioned to a few people that I was feeling a bit tired recently, needing more rest and taking it easy. It was a convenient excuse that explained my slightly slower pace and the occasional absence.
My harem members knew the truth, of course. They were aware it was my double replacing me, so they kept their distance.
I picked up my pace, the rhythmic sound of my shoes hitting the pavement a soothing backdrop to my thoughts. The mission might be over, but there were still loose ends to tie up.
My feet moved in a steady rhythm. I found my mind strangely blank. Instead of enjoying the morning scenery, my thoughts were tangled up.
The mission was over, but the real challenge was figuring out my next steps.
What excuse could I use to quit this academy?
What about my students? Who would mentor them if I suddenly disappeared?
Should I find my replacement before I leave?
Claire and Evie would come with me, of course. But that left the trio—Darren, Barry, and the other one. They were a decent team, but their childish attitudes worried me.
Darren was the best among them, showing the most potential and maturity.
Barry, on the other hand, was the most childish, often causing more trouble than he solved.
And then there was Red and the vampire twins. Red might choose to come with me, but that meant leaving her twins behind. The twins were fiercely protective of each other, and I doubted they’d be happy with that arrangement.
I took a deep breath, my chest rising and falling with the effort.
“Why do I have to think about this useless thing?” I questioned myself silently. It felt absurd to be so concerned with these mortal matters.
These were problems I wouldn’t have given a second thought to in the past. The mortal realm was supposed to be beneath my concern, a fleeting distraction at best.
But here I was, jogging in the park, my mind consumed with worries and responsibilities that shouldn’t matter to me. The realization hit me hard—I had changed more than I wanted to admit. The mortal realm had influenced my thinking in ways I hadn’t anticipated.
I continued to jog and tried to push these thoughts aside. I focused on the rhythm of my breathing, the steady beat of my feet hitting the pavement. But the questions persisted.
Who would take care of the infirmary? Should I even care?
They were mortals!
Yet, I did care. Despite my best efforts to remain detached, I had formed connections here.
