As teammates, Horyu and Shino possessed a deep understanding of each other's capabilities. Shino recognized that Horyu held the upper hand in terms of strength, and while conserving chakra seemed like a rational choice, he respected Horyu's decision, knowing that Horyu had his best interests at heart. Thus, he graciously accepted, acknowledging that Horyu was making this choice for his sake.
Horyu checked the quest again, deciding to opt for the "Master of Elements" sub-quest and showcase his Fire Element skills against Shino's "Insect-Beast Fusion."
As they faced each other in the arena, Shino unleashed his insects, creating a dense swarm. Horyu, poised and calm, activated his Sharingan, black tomoes spinning into focus. The spectators, including the Kages and Lord Mifune, watched intently.
Shino's insects swarmed towards Horyu, but he countered with a swift "Fire Style: Great Fireball Technique," creating a blazing sphere that engulfed the insects, illuminating the arena with a fierce glow. The audience gasped as the flames devoured the swarm, but Shino was unfazed. He redirected the remaining insects, using the "Insect-Beast Fusion" technique, infusing them with chakra to withstand the fire.
Horyu executed a series of hand signs, his chakra surging. "Fire Style: Phoenix Flower Jutsu," he declared, sending multiple smaller fireballs in a rapid, calculated barrage. The fireballs, each controlled with precision, targeted the swarm from different angles, trying to break through the insects' defenses.
Shino, countering, directed his insects to form a protective barrier, their movements synchronized and efficient. The insects absorbed the impact of the fireballs, their numbers dwindling but still formidable.
The battle became a spectacle of fire and insects, with Horyu's aggressive fire techniques clashing against Shino's defensive swarm tactics. Horyu's Sharingan allowed him to predict and counter Shino's movements, but Shino's strategic use of his insects kept Horyu from landing a decisive blow.
Seeking to end the stalemate, Horyu unleashed his newly developed "Fire Style: Inferno Shield," encircling himself with a ring of intense flames. The shield not only protected him from the insects but also intensified the heat around him, making it difficult for Shino to approach.
Shino knew he couldn't use the same tactic as the previous battle. Unlike Lightning Element, Fire Element didn't offer the same advantage to his insects to drill through the ground. He had to devise a way to use Fire Element against Horyu. Meanwhile, Horyu, deciding to showcase his Kenjutsu skills, unsheathed Chucky, his trusted Chakra Blade. He swung it in a wide arc, creating a fiery slash. Horyu had previously studied various sword styles, including those of Karui, Atsui, Omoi, Suigetsu, and Chōjūrō, and now mixed them with his Collection of Sword Techniques.

Reading the description, Horyu smirked and charged towards Shino. The battle unfolded with intense exchanges of Horyu's blazing swordplay and Shino's tactical insect maneuvers. Shino's insects, now adapting to the heat, tried to swarm Horyu, who deftly countered with swift, fiery slashes. The heat from Horyu's blade caused the insects to retreat, creating a dynamic and visually striking battle.
Ultimately, Horyu's combination of fire-infused Kenjutsu and strategic agility overwhelmed Shino's defenses. As Shino conceded defeat, Hayate declared Horyu the winner. The crowd applauded their skillful display, and Horyu's victory added another feather to Team 8's cap.
[System Notification: Sub-Quest "Master of Elements" Completed. Reward: "Elemental Harmony" Perk unlocked.]
After the battle, Hayate called the remaining three fighters. "Since there are only three of you, one of you will skip the semi-finals and advance to the finals directly. To make it fair, we will have you draw lots." He then presented a bag, and Horyu, Hinata, and Gaara each drew a lot. "Horyu Uchiha of Team 8 versus Hinata Hyuga of Team 8," Hayate declared. "Gaara of Team Sand advances to the finals."
Horyu looked at Hinata, and they both nodded in silent agreement. Like Shino, Horyu was resolved to extend the fight, not only to test his own limits but to provide Hinata an opportunity to demonstrate her improved skills. The arena, buzzing with anticipation, was the perfect stage for them to showcase their growth.
As he focused, Horyu decided to go with the Sub-Quest: "Kinjutsu User" that he had been eyeing for a while. His arsenal included just one such technique - the Multiple Shadow Clone Technique. Though considered relatively mild in the spectrum of forbidden jutsu, it was still listed under the Kinjutsu category. Horyu hoped its usage would satisfy the quest's requirements.
However, employing the Multiple Shadow Clone Technique was a double-edged sword. Despite his advanced mastery, the creation of numerous clones would exert a significant toll on his chakra reserves. It was a risk, but Horyu was never one to shy away from challenges, especially when they aligned with his pragmatic approach to growth and learning.
With a steely gaze, Horyu formed the necessary hand seals. In a swift motion, he executed the technique. "Multiple Kage Bunshin no Jutsu!" he announced, channeling a considerable amount of chakra. In a burst of smoke, a multitude of clones materialized.
As Hinata prepared for the battle, she and Horyu charged simultaneously, each determined to showcase their newfound skills. The arena, still echoing with the cheers of the previous matches, watched in anticipation.
Horyu, with a multitude of shadow clones surrounding him, created a complex and dynamic battlefield. The clones, each mirroring his movements and techniques, advanced in unison towards Hinata. The spectacle of multiple Horyus in action was a sight to behold, displaying not just his mastery of the jutsu but also his strategic acumen in orchestrating such a coordinated attack.
Hinata, undaunted by the army of clones, activated her Byakugan, its near-360-degree vision allowing her to track each clone’s movements. She moved with grace and precision, her Gentle Fist strikes aimed at dispelling the clones. One by one, the clones poofed into smoke under her relentless assault, but as quickly as she dispelled them, Horyu created more, maintaining the pressure.
The battle escalated into a dance of shadows and palms, with Hinata weaving through the clones, her strikes becoming more targeted and effective. Horyu, in turn, used his clones to test Hinata's defenses, looking for any opening to counterattack. His real body, hidden among the clones, observed Hinata's movements, waiting for the right moment to strike.
As the battle wore on, the terrain, altered by the previous fights, added an additional layer of complexity. Horyu utilized the uneven ground and debris to his advantage, creating traps and diversions. Hinata, however, used her Byakugan to navigate the treacherous battlefield, her focus unwavering.
In a tactical shift, Horyu signaled his clones to retreat, creating a momentary lull in the battle. He then executed a series of hand signs, "Fire Style: Phoenix Flower Jutsu!" Multiple fireballs, controlled with precision, rained down on Hinata.
Hinata, anticipating the attack, countered with her newly developed technique, "Eight Trigrams Vacuum Palm." She sent a powerful wave of chakra towards the incoming fireballs, extinguishing them before they could reach her. The clash of fire and chakra sent a wave of energy across the arena, the audience gasping at the display.
As the battle neared its climax, Horyu and Hinata faced each other, their chakra levels waning but their determination unyielding. Horyu, with a nod of respect towards Hinata, prepared for his final move. He gathered his remaining chakra, his eyes locked onto Hinata's.
Hinata, recognizing the impending attack, braced herself. She knew that the next exchange could decide the outcome of the battle. The arena fell into a tense silence, the anticipation palpable.
With a swift motion, Horyu launched himself towards Hinata, his speed enhanced by his chakra. Hinata, responding in kind, met his charge head-on. Their hands clashed in a final exchange, chakra flaring with each contact.
In the end, it was Horyu who emerged victorious, his final strike breaking through Hinata's defense. As Hinata fell back, defeated but proud, Hayate announced, "Winner, Horyu Uchiha of Team 8."
