Chapter 20: My Little Cosmic Abomination Can’t Be This Cute!
-----
Yes? Yes?! Who voted for the damn “Yes”?! Come on, the tension is killing me!
Ding!
[Constellations that voted for the “No” Option: 43]
[Constellations that voted for the “Yes” Option: 57]
[The Option to turn the {Trillion-Legged Millipede That Swarms The Cosmos} into your Loyal retainer has won the voting pool by a rather large margin!]
[The {Trillion-Legged Millipede That Swarms The Cosmos} trembles in horror and fear over the sudden, ridiculous development!]
[She pledges for her life, asking you if you want anything else, she’ll make sure to provide it, no matter what!]
[The Constellations are awaiting your answer, some believe it would be better if you negotiated something more decent, while the Constellations that love chaos are insisting you take her as your loyal retainer to see what crazy thing might happen next…]
[It is now your choice.]
I… can’t believe it, it actually worked?! Does this mean I can take the Constellation home and make her into my loyal retainer?! Technically like a Familiar. A Constellation as a Familiar! This is ridiculous.
“Do you think I’ll let you go after you tried to kill me? I am safer if you’re right next to me, as my loyal retainer.” I said with a smirk.
Ding!
[The Constellations have decided to comply with your request.]
[The {Trillion-Legged Millipede That Swarms The Cosmos} screams in horror while badmouthing you in every way she possible can with her many mandibles!]
[The Constellations have conjured the [Cosmic Chains of Divine Restraint] into {Trillion-Legged Millipede That Swarms The Cosmos}!]
[Her body squirms, resisting, making the entire cosmos shake!]
RUMBLE!
Suddenly, as I was sitting on my bed, an earthquake happened. Atop the skies, the clear skies of a morning, I saw several stars in the shape of a giant millipede start to move around, as many chains wrapped around her body.
I don’t know if any other people could see this…
[Due to the restrictions within your World {Earth} and the {Outer Cosmos}, the powers of the {Trillion-Legged Millipede That Swarms The Cosmos} have been sealed alongside her entire being!]
[The Constellations have concentrated her very existence into a small item!]
[The Cosmic Throne {Jester Filled With Lies} brings the special item to your hands!]
FLAAASH!
Suddenly, out of thin air, a small purple-colored and rather beautiful jewel appeared in the palm of my hands, shining brightly. Whenever I glanced through it, I saw a gigantic bug groaning angrily at me. Woah she’s really just a millipede, and kind of gross-looking compared to my adorable Violet.
Ding!
[You’ve received the [Constellation Sealing Stone (??? Rank)] x1!]
-----
[Constellation Sealing Stone (??? Rank)]
A powerful Sealing Stone made out of condensed Cosmic Power. It maintains sealed the {Trillion-Legged Millipede That Swarms The Cosmos}, whose true name is Sepa, the Millipede Goddess of Ancient Egypt, closely related to Osiris, having a strong connection with her described in the Ancient Egyptian’s {Book of the Dead}.
The Ancient Egyptians noticed that, while insects attacked dead bodies, Centipedes and Millipedes would attack the insects instead, and they were quickly recognized as “Guardians of the Dead”. The strong belief in their powers grew larger as they also knew these creatures were poisonous, and so they prayed to Sepa for the healing of poisonous bites from snakes and scorpions.
However, there was also a hidden trait, Fertility. Because Sepa represents the millipedes and centipedes, who followed the earthworms, which were well known to improve the soil and yield better harvests as a result, Sepa was also thought to bring fertility to the soil, and even had her own temple in Heliopolis.
You’ve been given total power over “Sepa” and her entire concept as well. However, due to restrictions such as this world’s “Level” and your own Power Level, you can only bring her out with her sealed powers.
-----
Yikes, that’s a big wall of text, but I can understand why it is given, it is the bare minimum that I have to learn before having her as my loyal retainer. I certainly can’t just steal her powers, but through this, as my pseudo familiar, can’t I just “borrow” them though? Heh, this is a loophole the Constellations most likely didn’t see, or maybe they did and just didn’t care.
Ding!
[The Cosmic Throne {Trillion-Legged Millipede That Swarms The Cosmos} is furiously glaring at you!]
[She asks you to bring her out from this damned jail she’s in!]
“Huh? Why are you so angry at me? You did this to yourself.” I sighed. “Why did you even violate the rules?”
Ding!
[The Cosmic Throne {Trillion-Legged Millipede That Swarms The Cosmos}, despite being an insect, begins to sweat rapidly, realizing how fucked she is…]
[She’s asking you to be more reasonable…]
“Me?! Why do I need to be more reasonable when you tried to kill me and my brother? Maybe I should just give you to Fenrir as a snack, I am sure he would grow very strong if that happens.” I said. “And I’m not even being unreasonable, now you’re just stuck with me so deal with it. I won’t have you get free only to try to kill me again. I dislike that cliché.”
The jewel began trembling in frustration and a bit of fear, she was roaring at me furiously though. Can I even reason with her? She’s really monstrous. Ugh, I’m beginning to regret this, but there was no other option. If I cannot directly kill her, sealing her and owning the stone where she’s sealed is the next best option.
Ding!
[The Cosmic Throne {Trillion-Legged Millipede That Swarms The Cosmos} roars in frustration!]
[She says that she will assist you in your endeavors from now on, sighing.]
[She says anything is better than being devoured by the disgusting rabid dog.]
“Alright, that’s more like it. Be more aware of the things you brought upon yourself. You should be responsible for the consequences of your actions.” I said with a smile. “I will summon you occasionally, and you better behave while you’re out, or I’ll seal you for whole days, or weeks.”
Ding!
[The Cosmic Throne {Trillion-Legged Millipede That Swarms The Cosmos} grits her mandibles in frustration… but nods obediently.]
[She will address you as “Master”.]
“Master? Seriously? Anyways, come out.”
FLUOSH!
I permitted her to come out, as a phantasmal millipede made of purple cosmic light emerged from the stone. Her appearance was grotesque, but her eyes were very big and cute for some reason. I didn’t expect her to be a ghost though.
Ding!
[The Cosmic Throne {Trillion-Legged Millipede That Swarms The Cosmos} has been summoned, answering the call of her Master.]
[Due to the Restrictions, her powers have reduced greatly, and she can only exert a small fragment of her original Divinity and Abilities.]
[As you grow stronger, she will also unlock more of her powers to be of greater utility to you.]
“GGRRRHHHH…”
However, instead of a “Hello master!” I got her groaning at me while cracking her mandibles. She was so pissed it felt like she was about to eat my head whole. Where’s the gentle words she said before?! She’s creeping me out a bit.
“Why are you so angry? Ugh, alright, I’ll play along. Is that the proper way to call your Master, Sepa?”
“Don’t call me like that! You dare use my True Name?!”
“Who are you treating by “you”, Sepa? Didn’t you say you were going to address me as “Master”? What happened with that? Don’t tell me you were just trying to fool me so I would lower my guard. Don’t go back on your words.”
Sepa began sweating rapidly while looking at me with such bloodlust her head felt like it was about to explode from the accumulated anger.
“No, of course not!” She laughed nervously. “M-Master…”
“Look, this is what you got yourself into.” I sighed. “I did this because I want to survive. And I can’t just trust you by leaving you alone after all of that happened.”
I began giving her head pats. She has a rather weird personality. Maybe she only acts nicely if I am more intimidating. She’s not a human being, after all, I should try to make her respect me more.
“GRAAAAH! This is horrible! You were supposed to die, Master!” She said angrily.
“Yeah, but we lived.” I shrugged. “You underestimated the teamwork between a little sister and her brother.”
“I should have never offered you making you my incarnation…” She began sobbing.
Damn, she was really bipolar, her mood switched really quickly from anger to sadness. I guess she’s going through the various stages of grief.
“Well, anyways, can I see her Status or something?”
Ding!
[The Status of {Trillion-Legged Millipede That Swarms The Cosmos} is restricted.]
[You cannot see her personal information.]
[The {Trillion-Legged Millipede That Swarms The Cosmos} Abilities are beyond the system but might develop through you.]
“I see, I can’t see a single thing.” I sighed. “Well, Sepa, I’m going to drain you dry of information, knowledge, and anything else I can get from you either way. We’re going to be like sisters once this is done. The two of us against the Cosmos.”
“Y-Yes, Master…” She sighed.
Was she already in the stage of acceptance?
“AAAGGGHH! I hate this! This can’t be true!”
Nope, she was still in denial.
After leaving Sepa struggling to accept her new reality, I quickly decided to get up. I had been sleeping and relaxing for a bit, but knowing I am in the world of “Solo Player” I don’t think I can relax completely.
Although I want to take a BIG break for now, I really can’t. I need to register as a Hunter and quickly begin searching for Dungeons to hunt monsters and level up to ready myself for the future Scenarios that are to come.
The Scenario right after Anna is rescued from the Dungeon by her brother is a rather harsh one, and perhaps even world-changing. The so-called “Awakening of the Tombstones”. At this moment, the Author quickly decided to set up an even higher stage in the story and made the entire world of Solo Player experience a “Second Awakening”.
While the first one was provoked by the Gates opening leading to Dungeons, the Second Awakening was the “Awakening of Mythology Itself”. All Legendary Places around the world suddenly began to become real, and the power of Constellations became even more influential than before.
Places related to powerful constellations would become gigantic labyrinths and dungeons, which would become known as “Treasure Troves” and the strongest Hunters out there began challenging their trials to conquer them and monopolize the Treasures and Powers resting within these special Dungeons.
Of course, even in America, where the story happens, there are many Legendary Places that opened, though the strongest were mostly within Asia, Europe, and Africa, there were many decent ones in North America, and some insanely amazing ones in South America.
My brother, of course, was moved to immediately conquer these, and using his powers, he decided to gather treasures and grow stronger, while slaying even more foes on his way. But now that I am here, the story might take a strange turn, and with the Constellations deciding to change the plot whenever it got “too boring” things might become even wilder.
Before that, I need to grow stronger, and my goal after registering as a Hunter is to visit the “Abandoned Temple”, a Dungeon that will appear in a couple of weeks or months, I’m not really sure, in the middle of our city. This is the place where I will be able to gather materials capable of helping me develop my new Seven Colored Sun Physique.
By the way, the world of “Solo Player” changed a lot from modern Earth, many cities in the entire world were destroyed, and many new ones were rebuilt. Right now, we’re in Stronghold City, which is where New York used to be.
Why the change of names? No idea, probably convenience so the author doesn’t have to remember streets and places from a country he probably didn’t know in detail.
“Violet! Are you around?”
“KYUUU!”
FLASH!
Suddenly, Violet appeared from below the bed, he was small like in his first form!
“What the… What happened with your size?!”
“Kyuu!”
Ding!
[Violet has awakened the [Size Alteration (D): Lv1] Skill!]
[With this Skill, Violet is capable of adjusting his size at will. Size limits for reducing his height are up to his previous evolution size, while to grow bigger, he’ll need to constantly spend MP, but his stats will also grow, up to a maximum of twice the original stats.]
“Wow, you’ve gotten a pretty overpowered Skill! Maybe with this, you’ll be able to be as big as your mom, or even bigger.”
“KYU!”
Sepa behind was glaring at us furiously.
“KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL…”
Is she seriously a Goddess of Fertility? It feels like she’s just a psycho! Maybe I shouldn’t have asked for her help to pay for her sentence. Maybe bearing with her is also the consequence of my actions.
“Oh my god, shut up…”
I quickly sealed her back into her jewel so she would stop being an idiot. She’ll come in useful, but having to bear with her is too much for me. And just as I sealed her back and put her inside the Inventory, someone entered the room.
“Hello~”
It wasn’t my brother, but a gorgeous, tall blonde-haired girl with bright blue eyes.
Wait, this girl…
“You’re here already?!” I asked in shock.
“Eh? Anna? You’re Jack’s little sister, right? Nice to meet you!” She said with a smile.
It’s not like I’m angry at her or something. It is just really surprising to see her out of nowhere, honestly.
She’s considered one of the most annoying characters in the novel for the majority of readers, because of how clingy she was to the protagonist.
This girl is one of the many “Romantic Interests” of my brother, Henrietta Claus.
