38 – Did the Queen trade her brains for boobs?

Footholds were constructed around the huge tree. However, they only had a width of about 30 centimeters. One could easily fall from these. If I were to take a wrong step… yeah, falling from these footholds would be the lamest thing ever.

We climbed up to the highest point of the tree. That was where the royalty’s living room was. Right now, it was only the Queen.

The peak of the huge tree was flat, and was wide enough that several people could be seated there. Branches that made a shape like a crown fenced the circumference.

A woman who sat on top of a carpet of leaves doing nothing was there. She wore an extremely revealing attire. And I am not joking. There is a lot of skin exposure. Does the Queen not mind revealing her body that much? And although her attire was different, she had an air around her that resembled Harmonia’s. A Harmonia that turned into an adult, going from a young girl to a beautiful woman──it was that sort of feeling. Also, the size of their chests were different.

If we take a look at Harmonia, she is feminine, yet still underdeveloped.

Harmonia had a more reserved chest size. The Queen… it’s not an exaggeration to call her boobs watermelons. For someone like me... ugh. I really don't know where I should be looking right now. It was that sort of feeling that would make one blush. Then again, not making eye contact was also rude. I had no choice but to put some mental strength and rid myself of worldly desires as best as I could. I can't let myself get flustered here. Maintain my cold personality. Yosh. I can do this...

...hopefully

“Kaa-san.”“Harmonia? Is that you? Come here, my dear. Your mother was worried sick about you. Honestly. It will probably take me 10 years to get over your father’s death. You shouldn’t put another burden on my chest.”“Sorry. It wasn’t my intention to upset you.”

*sigh*

“As long as you understand. Have some fruit with me.”Suddenly, the Queen turned her gaze towards me.

"Ara, who might you be?"

"You only notice me now?!"

I kinda feel the uncomfortability of stepping into someone else’s home. After all, I was never that sociable to begin with. Anyway, once again I guess I have to introduce myself.

"My name is Edelweiss, and these are my companions. Sasha, Stella and Yuki."

"I am Pyria R. Duskwood. My! So you are Edelwaisu-sama? I’ve already been informed that you helped my daughter."

"Eh, well……"

"Ara ara, it’s trueー. And it seems the rumors are true. My eyes can see a lot. Your mana is exquisite. It’s actually Ether. You are a terrifying person. Ah, have some fruits."

Err… ok. What the hell is that kind of greeting? First impression. The Queen feels like an airhead. I mean sure, my goal here is to eat food but offering me fruits just like that… I dunno. I don’t feel comfortable. We all consented and had a few fruits. These types of berries resemble blueberries in taste, although they are specific to this world.

We all enjoyed them. As for the Queen, she looked like she conducted herself cheerfully, but she had lost her husband. It was only natural for her to be in low spirits. Not to mention, Elves lived long lives, so both birth and death were rare for them.

The Queen returned to having a smile."But, this is great! Harmonia is now back with us. If you get married, your partner will become the king of the Elves. You remember that, don’t you?"

"The Duskwood Kingdom will be in big trouble if there isn’t a king, right?"

"That’s rightー. It is because the king is there that the forest’s blessings do not wither, and the treasured article entrusted to us from God is protected."

"If I get married…"

"You’ll be just like Kaa-san. At that time, I will be the Queen Dowager. Arara, I wonder if I’ll get used to it?"

Harmonia breathed a sigh.

"I……The truth is, there was something I was trying to do. But, if a king is needed……"“Darling, don’t embarrass mommy in front of our guests. You know very well your responsibility. So get married, okay? Your partner has been decided after all.”“Eh? I know... But that’s…”

"He is a person whose lineage and personality are splendid. You will definitely be pleased with him."

"W, who? Or rather, even if I were to get married, my partner would……"

Seeming to have sensed various things, the Queen talked gently.

"Duskwood is a country of Elves, you know? It needs to have a king that everyone can consent to, see?"

"But……"

"We have been entrusted with an important thing from God in the era of legends. In exchange, we received a blessed forest. The things that God decided at that time, although I taught it to you many times; Harmonia, you are really bad at memorizing things. I wonder who you take after.──It was to not put an end to the royal family’s lineage.

That the one of that bloodline, or their husband would become king. Then the king would offer their prayers to God. Erm……There were also several other things but these were the important ones, you know?"

Yup. The Queen is literally an airhead. Did the previous king just like her because of her body? Well, I won’t deny that I wouldn’t mind going a round with her myself. I haven’t tasted a milf yet. But I can't fall for those thoughts at this point. Leaving that aside, this whole legend about God is interesting. Although…

Why would God entrust that “important thing”, whatever that is, to this family lineage? Well, I’m gonna assume that the God of the elves is someone even more crazy than Auntie Nyarla and just made a mistake.

"I properly remember that! But shouldn’t it be fine even if the king isn’t an Elf!?"

"The king of the country of Elves should be an Elf. If that weren’t the case, it wouldn’t be a country of Elves anymore, you know?"

The Queen said that with a tone that said it was extremely reasonable and without any doubt of it.“Ah, but forgive me. These are things that should be discussed in private. I am sure that our guests have other things they wish to discuss. What brings you the Elven Kingdom?”If the Queen is an airhead like I suspect. Then maybe honesty is the best policy.“We heard that there are various unique dishes in the elven lands. You can think of me as a gourmand of sorts. So we would like to taste all the dishes and eat until our stomachs are full!”Edolas and Lecia’s jaws dropped. The Queen however maintained her smile.“Oh! I see. It is true that we have some of the best dishes. You know what? Why don’t you stay for the wedding? I am sure you will find a lot of food that will suit your taste.”“I tend to eat a lot.”“That’s not a problem. Stay. I will arrange rooms for you.”And so, by some weird twist of fate, we were officially recognized as guests of the royal elf family. There’s something more behind this story. But let’s not dwell on it for now. It’s not my business. Trying to figure this out would be too troublesome and since my short term goal is basically completed, why bother? I should just enjoy my time here and soak in elf culture. They probably have some good books too. So let’s just kick back, relax... and try to get my "sword" under control.
