Chap 96: eventful
"Honestly, I don't know what to say." Speechless, Takumi just stared at his hand the entire way home.
"How about "I do" ?" Driving through the street of Tokyo, Tojiko smiled as she made a turn, the happiness was clear in her voice. There is an eagerness her tone, which was very easy to spot, even for him.
'She's really enjoying this news, ain't she?' He smiled as well. Certainly not from the ring wrapped around his finger, Takumi has no taste for jewelry. But the thoughts of it are what makes him smile.
"We should do something special for today, you know."
"Anything in mind ?" She asks.
"Can we go to the cinema ?" Nodding, she drove them to one of the famous theatres in the city.
Exiting the car first, the Zennin open the car door for him. He reached to her side, and they both headed towards the inside. Buying the tickets to a sci-fi romance movie, basically a gender-bent star war on budget.
The experience was....for lack of a better word. Pretty okay for Takumi, with every role the men play is now taken by a woman, everything else is almost the same. He did not expect the man to be.....less femboy in the movies but they did it, somehow.
Tojiko just watched with a deadpan look, clearly uninterested. However, she let out a slight chuckle every once in a while. He remembered giving a confused look in his eyes but still smiled along. When it was over, they walked out of the theater, and it was around evening.
Leading him by the hand, Takumi was in the middle of his line of thought when an explosion rang out not far from where he stood.
*Ka-BOOM!*
The people began to gather, some taking pictures and some calling the police. He saw it too.
'Why here?' Takumi questioned; that was a cursed spirit, not a group of curse spirits.
'And right on my day as well.' His inner compass is telling him something is very wrong. He just pray this doesn't have anything to do with his luck.
His hand was squeezed harder, and Tojiko unconsciously pulled him closer.
"Tojiko!" Takumi shouted loudly.
"Oh, sorry. I was just-" blinking a few times, she knew as well. Obviously, she does not want him to be involved with curses and Jujutsu society.
"It's okay, I know. You don't want me to get hurt. Let's get out of here." Whatever is going on isn't his problem to begin with, so Takumi gives little care for it. The two share a look of understanding before making a run for it.
But his luck was at it again; one second, Takumi was still holding on to his lover's hand, and in the next, she disappeared.
"What the-?" Looking around, he also found that the place he stood in wasn't the same as where he was.
The space was distorted as the environment around him got warped, like the buildings got scrambled with each other, random rooms were stacked all over the place.
"Of course." He isn't surprised by this point, his horrendous luck has struck again.
"Arghhh!" Screaming his lung out, Takumi let his voice rang into the darkness for a solid minute as he vented out his frustration. Slowly calming down to a long sigh.
"Alright then, you really don't want me to enjoy this do you?" Opening his inventory, various items laid out for him to grab, in his left hand is the Thousand Demon dagger, and in his right, is a big sheet of paper scribbled in black ink.
*gehehe* an ominous giggle echoed from the distance, slowly creeping closer to where he is at.
'System, activate my pulls.' He commanded.
--------------
[Wooden katana(F)-(Gintama)]: A wooden sword with the words "Lake Toya" engraved on the handle.
[Jet(D)-(fallout)]: a powerful hallucinogenic chem that stimulates the central nervous system, triggering a rush of energy and strength.
[Ninja headband(F)-(naruto)]: a simple headgear to signify a shinobi's village.
[Tao elixir (B)-(hell's paradise)] replenishes the user's Tao when consumed.
[Sound amplifier(B)-(JJK)] The user's body becomes an amplifier for any sound emitted, launching it in sound waves of curse energy.
------------
Slapping the sheet of paper onto the ground, Takumi chanted in a low voice. Filling the sheet with curse energy.
His eyes rapidly scanned the situation, if a grade 1 can do this to the area, it means it has enough curse energy to make something close to a domain expansion. Able to distort space and make it harder for anyone inside to get out.
The paper began to fold, and the ink on it faded in some parts as it reoriented into a map.
"There." He said, "you think you can trap me in here ? You're wrong, you bastard, I'm not in here with you. You're in here with me!"
A colossal creature, over 3 meters tall, landed in front of him with a resounding thud. It looked to be a humanoid, pale skin and red eyes looking down at him. Smiling wide, mouth full of sharp teeth, the cursed spirit seemed to think it could play with him.
Seeing Takumi not moving an inch, it thought he must be paralyzed in fear. Letting it drop its guard as it gets closer, laughing with an amused expression.
“Kwihihik! Kwihihik!” reaching out, it attempted to grab the man. Just then, something heavy hit the ground.
*Thud*
The curse face showed a confused expression, the hand it had was now on the ground, separated from its body.
"Grrakk!" The feeling of pain suddenly hit it, and then a white flash came over the cursed face.
A wave of different attacks hit its body; it started with a loud bang in front of its face, then a slash at the feet. The curse writhed in pain as many sharp things then cut at it.
Pain transformed to anger; it swiped its hand hard at whatever was attacking it. Creating a huge wave of wind, destroying walls with buildings. The pain stopped for a brief moment, letting the curse open its eyes. Surrounding it were the remains of wooden puppets left in pieces.
Takumi threw a flash bang at the cursed face, and as it was blinded. Many shards of the demon dagger was shot out like a shotgun, imbued with curse energy to make sure it would feel it as much pain as possible. He then jumped into the dark and summoned his puppets to jump the curse.
His eyes watch from above, the curse face spinning to see. Glowing a bright green, he shot his paralyzing gaze. Hitting the curse, at the same time, more puppets he placed around have guns and fired.
The area was filled with light as the curse screamed in pain. The shower of lead from hundreds of guns did not stop until the curse itself was left in an unrecognizable state.
Only then, did Takumi come closer to deal the finishing blow. Taking out his bat, he smashed it face with full force. Splattering a puddle of purple mass everywhere. Then again, and again, venting out his anger on the curse until it has no face left for him to smash. Nothing but a unrecognizable lump of torn flesh.
Takumi took out his sheet of map and began to move. As he walked, his hearing picked up some sort of monstrous screaming, 'probably more curses.' He turned to try and find where Tojiko was when he heard it.
Amidst the raging screams; there was something else. Changing his direction, he headed towards where the sound was.
Carefully approaching, he hid himself behind a wall that let him have a nice view from above. Takumi's eyes quickly widen at the scene his eyes are showing him.
Tojiko, she was dismantling every monster around her. The screaming horde that he'd been hearing was from the curses indeed, but they weren't screaming from joy but fear. It shouldn't be amazed much but he can't help but feel so when watching her killing a curse by her barehand. From the hundred curse spirits that Takumi sees, all of them was a grade 1, he was absolutely sure of that from the amount of curse energy they were exuding.
Using what he was assuming, the soul split katana, Tojiko slashed and hacked at them. One of her slashes was able to kill at least three or four of them each time. The poor bastards didn't even have a chance to run as the moment one of them turned around, Tojiko would already be there to behead that curse before slamming herself right at the horde of curses. The grim sound of flesh being sliced and stabbed resonated in the curse Spirits slaughterhouse.
While this scene was happening, Takumi's map also changed, the ink revealed to him a red dot. That should signal him an exit, but he knew better to think it would be just a doorway for him to go through.
*Thump* *Thump* *Thump* *Thump*
And as he expected, a 6-meter-tall giant was pounding toward to Tojiko's position. Unmistakably, with towering height and impressive muscle mass. Half human and half bat, the thing wields two oversized sickles in each hand.
Tojiko remained unfazed, eyeing the curse with the same cold eye just like the other curses, which were now just carcasses piled up on the ground. On top of them is Tojiko.
"So, you are the boss of these fools?" Her voice was filled with disgust and hatred, "which means," she lifted her katana and pointed it at the curse spirit, "you took him from me."
A shockwave rippled as their blade struck, just one exchange, and Tojiko's sword then changed the target to stab at the curse's foot, contorting its face in pain.
“Owhw!” Feeling both agony and fury, it swung its sickle at Tojiko. A green flash interrupted it mid-swing, the curse spirit froze for one second
He had not seen her in a fight before, he had seen her strength many times before, but then, when she wasn't fighting.
To see Tojiko evade strikes at such a fast pace, his eyes can only catch the afterimage of where she was.
Stabbing at the gut, Tojiko dragged her Katana along as she bisected the cursed spirit. Running up it's body, up to the neck. She did a horizontal slash, severing the curse's head.
With an eerie sound, a purple streak of blood burst from its neck. The head of the curse spirit fell and hit the ground in a resounding thud, like a puppet got its strings cut, the body fell over.
*Gush!* *Gush*
"She looked amazing, taking it down like nothing." He whispered to himself.
After killing the boss curse, Takumi saw the area distortion begin to fade. Soon he was back in the place before everything.
But his vision was blocked by something, it was big and hard in some parts. Moving his head, Takumi brushed against a soft object. Actually, it was two soft objects. Her hands are what keeps him in place, one pushing behind his back and the other pushing the back of his head to her chest.
*mmff* while struggling to get his words out, Tojiko just brushes his head. "Shh, let me hold you for a bit more."
"should we be heading home now, i'm tired." He said, voice mulfed in between her chest, such an event for their special day, it was draining indeed. He saw alot of people dressed like they're from a secret organization going near the scene, he asumed they're from the Jujutsu society since each person do have curse energy running like a sorceress. He decided to let them clean up the mess.
Takumi put all these worries into the back of his mind as they departed the scene, holding hands.
