Chap 155: Gojo, Geto, Hoko.
She was here, 'finally,' Gojo thought excitedly.
Stepping on the stone stair leading to Jujutsu tech gate.
Her steps were joyful, skipping through the slab and walking through the barrier. While the other students have to bother with formalities or paperwork, she got a free pass to get to class right away.
She has no idea why they would bother to open for the public when the place is supposed to be only for the special few who can learn sorcery.
None fit that criteria around Gojo; they have a terrible curse energy pool, and they can't even keep it in check. They looked at her with hate and fear, the same eyes she was so used to at home.
The eyes of the weak.
'Whatever....' It wasn't her problem. Gojo just hoped there was some interesting individual in her class.
It would suck if she were the only special grade in the entire school.
"Name?" Some sniveling manager at the entrance dared to stop her from going into the school grounds.
"Gojo." She stated blankly, the urge to use limitless at full power right here seems tempting.
"I see, class 1-A." She handed Gojo a student card and a key to her dorm room.
Gojo disappeared in a flash before the lady could give her a snoozy spiel about secrecy and curtains and a number of tedious shit she couldn't care less about.
The campus was cool, she was big enough to admit that much. Jujutsu High carried an undeniable grandeur, the first thing that hit her wasn’t the buildings, but the atmosphere.
This place was old, deliberate, regal. Built with broad wooden arches, smooth and dark like lacquered armor, rose over the entrance and funneled him toward a campus that felt grown rather than built.
Paths curved in slow, confident sweeps, cutting through forests so meticulously shaped they might as well have been sigils etched into the landscape. The place stretched farther than it seemed at a glance, each seemingly modest hall was only the face of larger wings of minka-style structures and shoji-latticed corridors branching behind them like a hidden maze.
Overhead, branches interlocked in gentle arcs, filtering the light, while the hush of water gardens murmured somewhere just out of sight, close enough to feel their presence, distant enough to stay mysterious.
This place didn't have the same vibe as where she came from; it felt warm in a nice way, and the shade was cool but not cold.
She felt safe, like she could be something else.
She doesn't feel lonely.
Satoru tipped her face skyward. The sun sat differently here. It was full, warm where it once was glaring. Her black glasses sat low on her nose as she made her way through the courtyard.
Her footfalls almost too loud over the step-smoothed stone, made her conscious of herself in a less absorbed way than usual.
She recalls how her mother reacted.
Dawn hadn’t even settled properly when the Gojo household erupted into motion. Servants streamed through the manor’s front hall, their arms full of neatly packed cases as they ferried her belongings toward the long row of black cars waiting in the courtyard. Engines purred low, patient, obedient, just waiting for the command to spirit her away. No one met her eyes, not that they could through those glasses. So they moved quickly, quietly, like shadows trained not to exist.
At the boundary between the house and the world outside, her mother watched it all with the rigid stillness of a monument. Satori lingered a few feet away, leaning against the frame of a door she had already stepped through in every way except literally. Close enough to acknowledge the woman. Nowhere near close enough to pretend they shared anything more.
They shared the same silence, though, in a dry, empty space that stretched on and on while servants continued to load the cars. Satori ignored the urge to shift her weight, focusing instead on the treeline beyond the gate, willing the moment to end on its own.
It ended when her mother’s expression fractured.
“You’re an absolute disgrace.”
The air around him wavered, annoyance, irritation, pressure. Satori exhaled sharply, rubbing at the side of his head. “Is this really where we’re starting today?”
“I gave you mentors whose talent could make that academy look like a sewer—”
“So did yours,” Satori cut in, brows lifting. “You went to Jujutsu Tech. Every sorcerer who is worth their salt all go there. Acting like it’s beneath me is pathetic.”
There was silence again. Her mother took a long sigh, index finger and thumb stroking the bridge of her nose.
"Face it, mom." She spat, pushing very hard to get the last word out of her throat. "Imma do my own thing. And there is no one in the family that can stop me."
The shoulder of the daughter and mother bumped into each other, their limitless clash so brief, but even that small scuffle was enough to rupture the air.
"Don't worry, I'll make sure to come back and take that position you so damningly wanted to give me." She spoke without sparing a glance over her shoulder.
'But mom isn't here anymore.' She told herself, the class is so close.
She can vaguely see the people inside, excitement once again bubbles in her. She wanted to jump, to laugh in a manic way. There was so much she didn't know, so many people she could meet.
And there's him too.
"Yo!" Swinging the door to her class wide open, Gojo decided to make the best of her entrance for everyone who could be in her class.
To which.....she finds lacking good feedback.
There were three student sitting in their own chair.
Instinctively, she focuses on the strongest flow of curse energy.
"The homeroom teacher hadn't arrived yet, and there isn't a designated spot for us to sit." A girl, she had outgrown black hair that almost reached her shoulders.
It tied into a nice ponytail, she was wondering if all the sexy people had a thing for ponytails. She also had a thin long bang just on the corner of her left side. And she wasn't that different from Satori's own height either.
"Oh, hi, you must be one of the other students. I'm Geto Sugure." She stands next to Satori's desk, holding out her hand. Satori shook her hand.
"Gojo satori," he replied dryly
"Oh, I know who you are, you're practically famous in the jujutsu world." She said smiling.
"Am I?" Gojo smirked, "Guess to the commoner, I am kinda popular." Her voice was full of arrogance, yet it didn't turn the other girl away. Bangs returned the laughter with her own. Gojo and Geto both sat in the front row, next to each other.
"Oh and in the back are Hoko." Geto pointed back with her thumb.
Gojo didn't pay any attention, but now that she did, her six eyes focused on the one left in the back.
"Hoko Leiri," the boy introduced himself.
He was quite handsome, a sleek brown bob barely brushing his shoulders. Between his slender fingers is a lollipop, dangling centimeters from his downturned lips. He looked like the type to give no shit.
