Chap 125: Takumi’s first day
Mei Mei was sitting in front of his dressing table mirror. Carefully applying a final coat of mascara, he had put on her favourite earrings, two black cultured pearls. His hair was pulled back into a long high braid, clearing his face and neck.
Mei Mei stood up, his long black dress hugged the hourglass body’s shape. A variation of the uniform that was given to him but changed into a custom dress. Satisfied with his looks, he stepped out and got to class.
If she remembers correctly, there's a new teacher assigned to her class.
"Oh, hey." He greeted the underclassman with a charming smile, the only underclassman left.
"Hello Mei-Senpai." Kusakabe replied, one hand waving her back.
The girl looked completely disheveled with her neck long hair being thrown around, tired eyes with bags under them.
She wore a simple white shirt and black pants version of Jujutsu High uniform. But it was clear that she put it on in a haste, must be oversleeping again.
'Poor girl,' Mei Mei thought, she couldn't help but sympathize a little with this timid girl.
The two of them have fallen under the same circumstance, all of their class has been killed in action, those that are lucky enough to survive will probably never set foot near Jujutsu ever again. Or if they were able to, then the only place left for them is the auxiliary unit.
"You look out of it, have enough sleep ?" Mei Mei asks.
His tone of voice, although it sounded like he was concerned, was more of a social tone. Detached and cold, it makes the shy girl tug at the brim of her shirt. Everyone who interacted with Mei Mei more than once could tell from that point, his only value in life was cash. He is the type of person who expects to be paid for going to school.
"Y-yes, Mei-senpai."
"By the way, shouldn't you be heading to class soon ?"
"Ahh...you see," the girl paused for a moment to take out her confidence before continuing. "I didn't exactly know either."
"Since my class is just me left, I think they are considering changing my spot."
"Hmmm...make sense." She nodded as they both walked in the same direction.
They were grade 2 sorcerers by rank. Mei Mei has done many missions to be here. As for Kusakabe, she only has the report to serve as information proof of her strength.
'It seemed her attitude is holding her back, but otherwise the girl has potential.'
Their conversation stopped as the two students stood in front of a classroom door.
"Mei-Senpai, you don't think-"
"Come inside." The voice from inside invites them in.
Sliding the door with hesitation, they enter the classroom, everything was designed pretty much exactly like how a normal high school would look. But the entire class only has two chairs and a table arranged in front of the board and the teacher's desk.
"Take your seat, please. Class is starting soon." Standing in full view for them to see is Takumi.
Tall guy with long hair, he has some muscle to him. Wearing casual office wear, including a white button-up shirt with a green tie around his neck, and black pants.
Both Mei Mei and Kusakabe were awestruck by him, not by the unusual look he had or his handsome face. But by his curse energy, they were feeling off of him.
Eyes traveling to just above his head, sat a floating object. An obscure-looking pinwheel, the curse energy that it has let feel like being pressed to death by something far stronger than whatever they have faced in their life.
Heavy and dark, like a cage holding an army of monsters. The two were frozen in their place, unable to move.
Powerful
That is what they thought about this man, someone so strong that he could kill them both in an instant.
"I said, Come in." He repeated with a shift to his tone.
The pressure got lifted, Mei Mei and Kusakabe were able to breathe normally for what felt like hours. It likely wasn't and they have just only been standing for a few minutes at best.
Mei Mei was the one to snap out of it first, Kusakabe followed him on instinct. The boy sat on the right side and the girl sat on the left in the room facing the teacher.
"I think an introduction is necessary, especially since it's our first time meeting." The man said, introducing his name. "Takumi, you my call me. Or just Sensei will do." He said in a positive tone.
"Now you two."
"MY NAME IS KUSAKABE ATSUYA, SIR." Jumping out of her seat, Kusakabe stood up abruptly and said out loud. Her body is standing as straight up as possible.
"My name is Mei Mei, but just Mei will be fine." His voice carries himself like royalty as Mei introduces himself to reduce the awkwardness in the room.
His beaming smile oozed charisma, plus the natural beauty that can whisk anyone off their feet. Mei was confident in using the moment to boost himself into a favorable position in the teacher's eyes.
But Takumi's reaction wasn't something he could have predicted; there was no sound, no sign of recognition in his eyes. He simply nodded and told Kusakabe to sit down.
"As you two may or may not aware of, with only two students left in the curriculum. There has been a decision made to group both year 3 and year 2 into one class. I have been appointed as your teacher, I hope to help you in the future."
"I see."
"Now that is an interesting call to make."
Both nodded at his words, but understood them differently. Mei Mei thought the school was too cheap to hire someone for each of them, while Kusakabe thinks that they are trying to give the students a better chance by forming a team.
In truth, it was a little bit of both. As someone who has next to zero experience as a teacher, he thinks this would be the best way to manage the two students at the same time, teaching them.
'But really, how do I need to teach these two ?' He questions himself as he scans the two of them, Kusakabe was scared to death by him, and it shows visibly on her face too, with eyes constantly looking down. At least Mei Mei was doing a better job at hiding her fear, only avoiding eye contact while keeping a straight face.
*sigh*
"Hey, since our first day together. How about we go outside for some bonding activities?"
The facial expressions of both students changed when they heard his words.
"Already ? On the first day ?" Panic rises in Kusakabe's voice.
"As long as it isn't too dangerous." Mei Mei said.
