Chapter 167 Bruce’s day off

Bruce Wayne’s Point of View

Damian, Selena, and I all went out to watch a movie for our father/son bonding time that week. With how many criminals were captured or killed recently it made having a break here and there not seem like the end of the world. Damian complained again. “I can’t believe that was the movie you picked us to watch. That was clearly for children or girl's father.”

We kept walking as we exited the movie theatre. “I thought the emotional throughline was very solid and it had a decent plot.” Damian just scoffed. “The plot was almost exactly like the original except it was Joy making Riley’s sense of self be focused around positive memories over Joy not letting the other emotions ever guide Riley until Sadness overflows in her.”

We just kept walking as I spoke. “Well, you’re entitled to your opinion.” Damian kicked a stone off the sidewalk as he said. “I did go in already with a negative opinion of the movie because of how they tossed away Bill Hayder and Mindy Kaling. Them getting a hundred thousand dollars to talk seems like a lot of money but the movie grossed over a billion dollars. I think they didn’t have to be cheapskates when it came to rehiring the original voice actors.”

Selina finally spoke. “Well, I liked the big pink guy. Enough about Inside Out 2, where do you want to eat?” Damian twirled around before walking with his hands behind his head. “We could always go to Italy to eat there. I am still learning magic and need to keep practicing my portals.” The moment I dropped my guard someone shouted from behind us.

“Hey! Turn around and pull your pockets out. I’m robbing you.” I was shocked by what was happening as I slowly turned towards the person. His aim was wrong and not placed perfectly in the center of me. I could tell when our eyes met he didn’t recognize me, the glassy eyes and a slight sway in his movement showed he was drunk. He was a danger but could be easily dealt with when I got close enough to hand over my wallet but…

I was in my Bruce Wayne persona. As much as everyone knew my identity, I had never outright said I really was and some people still believed I had only hired Batman and wasn’t Batman himself. As I slowly reached into my pocket to hand him over the money and be done with the situation, I heard Damian speak and close my eyes at the problem he was making.

“Oi, drunken street thug. Have you watched Inside Out 2? What did you think of the movie?” The man swayed forward before snapping back up and straightening out as if he had to tell the truth he blurted out. “I found Inside Out 2 incredibly endearing and both my daughters loved it.” Damian sighed as he said. “I can’t hurt him now that I know his backstory. Father, pay the man.”

Selenia now chimes in her two cents. “Well, I mean. Does he even keep any petty cash on him? The handful of dollars is barely enough to help him at all. I think we should find the root of the problem and see how we can help him so he doesn’t have to rob people in the future.” The drunk spoke again. “No, I’ve got a really good job. I’m just doing this more out of the rush and probably because I’m drunk, I think I’m at the level of drunkenness where I have to tell the truth.” *Burp*

“Peels.” Damian says something and the man who was leaning forward starts to fall and is caught by my son. “Well… That was anticlimactic. Should we… Arrest him?” Selena grabbed the gun before riffling through his wallet. “Yup, two little cute daughters. What an absolute idiot to risk his future for the thrill of it.” I worked my way through the thought process as she pocketed his money and I gave her the stink eye.

“What!? He was going to rob us first.” With that, we portalled over to Italy and ate a nice meal. While I was lying in bed I couldn’t help but replay what happened to us over and over again in my head. The situation had brought up past thoughts of my parent's death. While it was similar in some ways it was incredibly different in most. For one, all of us could have disarmed the man before he got off a shot on target.

I was fairly certain after limit testing the both of them that they’d survive the bullet even if they didn’t try to avoid it. It made me feel uneasy, like the whole situation was set up by one of my villains but no… Who would do something so random? The Joker perhaps could have made a comeback but it didn’t fit his M.O. as he would have killed the man.

Selena sensing I was in my own head climbed on top of me and began placing kisses on my face as I continued to think things through. That was until she spoke and my brain rebooted. “I want you to put a baby in me.” Even my eyebrows rose at her sudden proclamation. “Selena. Did you think this through?” She scoffed at me as she spoke. “Of course I have. The main reason we haven’t had a child yet is because I was waiting for you to suggest it but I realize now that isn’t going to happen. I’m going to have to get it out of you like that assassin bitch did and pin you down aren’t I?”

I grunted as she grabbed my hands and held them above my head on the bed. I couldn’t help but smile as I asked. “Oh, is this what you’re into then Selena? All those times you had me tie you up and secretly you wanted to be the one on top then?” I lean forward and capture her lips in a surprise attack. She momentarily lets the pressure off as I turn her over so I’m on top.

“If this is what you want then who am I to get in the way?”

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

We lay in a tandem bath together both facing towards each other after we finished the deed to relax as I ask. “So… You think that thug was sent by someone?” She didn’t even look up with the washcloth on her face. “It would make sense. What are the chances that someone holds Batman at gunpoint without realizing it unless they were led into that situation.”

I could have been many things but my detective mind told me I was missing something. I had to go through and analyze the DNA sample I collected from the man. I’m glad they let me take one even though both were saying I was being paranoid at the time. Selena closed the distance again before pushing her body against mine.

“Well… I don’t know about you but we don’t know for sure if I’m pregnant or not. We’re going to have to try over… And over again to make sure.” I smile as I lean into her kiss. “I don’t know, I’m awfully busy trying to figure out this case right now. What can you do to tempt me to stay.” A few more passionate kisses as Selena bites my lip and whispers into my ear. “Well. I can think of a few things we can do that might keep you distracted. We should take this to the bedroom though. Now that we’re clean we should get dirty again.”
