Just friends
[3rd POV : Komi-san]
One month.
That was how long it has been since she had been friends with Yuito.
One month that meant more to Komi than her whole life. It was truly a wonder how many great memories she made during this short period.
It was filled with lovely events that was comparable to everything that happened in her whole life.
One month. Komi was amazed at how valuable that could be.
For her, it was everything.
She made friends.
Two friends who were so precious that they made her forget her dream of making a 100 friends.
She thought, with friends like them she did not need 98 others. They were enough, more than enough.
Though one of them was more special than the other.
Yuito Fujita. The boy who understands her, the boy who could communicate with her.
The boy she now knew was the one she love.
*Splash*
Komi splashed a handful of water on her face, trying to cool her thoughts and also hoping that the cold touch of the water would wake her stupid heart.
She breathe in and out softly but heavily, trying to push down the jealousy and sadness that had been bubbling up from the pits of her heart the moment she learned that Marin and Yuito became lovers.
She should be happy, she realized.
She was their friend. She should not be sad or jealous.
She should not have been this bitter.
Even she was surprised about what she was feeling right now. She never knew she liked Yuito that way, cherished him that way.
She thought she was more than content with just being his friend.
Apparently not.
*Splash*
She splashed another handful of water on her face to calm herself down.
She was so ashamed of herself. He had already agreed to be friends with her but here she was, greedy.
She finally looked up and stared at herself in the mirror infront of her. She was in the girl's washroom and the she noticed a few girls admiring her from behind. She could see them on the mirror.
She looked at herself closely, staring at the stoic face she had come to despised as she grow up.
Her face which showed no emotion. A face which did not feel.
The face of a doll and not a girl's.
Her fingers trailed at that perfect face of hers, there was a rosy redness on her cheeks even though the rest did not show any expression.
She lightly tug at her lips, stretching them into a smile.
'I am beautiful, right?' She thought to herself while eyeing the girls who were admiring her from behind.
She was extremely beautiful and she should be confident with herself, that was what Yuito had told her repeatedly.
And after showing her some proof and constantly repeating himself, Komi had come to believe it.
Afterall, she may not have confidence in herself but she trust Yuito.
'It's the truth. Appearance alone, I have never seen someone as perfect as you.' she recalled his words which brought an imaginary smile on her face.
If she was that beautiful, then...
Could she-?
*SPLASH!!*
She splashed water on her face again to drive out that disgusting thought. She felt guilty that she even considered that.
Stealing Yuito away from Marin? The girl who was kind enough to be her friend. Her best friend at this point.
What was she thinking?!
Besides, Yuito will never choose her over Marin.
Marin was beautiful. She was energetic and outgoing. She was good at talking to others and making everyone around her happy.
Everything Komi could only hope to be someday.
Komi took out a handkerchief from her pocket and gently wiped her face before leaving the girl's washroom and making her way back to her classroom.
She sat back on her seat and made sure to apologize to him. To Yuito.
She apologized for her actions and also for her feelings.
Then the class started and she was left with her thoughts. In the end she came to a conclusion.
Whatever was happening to her, she had to stop it.
She will kill whatever feeling she had for Yuito in her heart.
Because she was more than happy....
To be just friends.

She turned to look at him. His face was resting in deep thought, his brows creased and his eyes scrunched.
He looked like he had a lot going in his mind as well.
Oh how she wanted to pick his head apart and read every thought of his.
Maybe it was because she just realised her feelings for him but her heartbeat quickened just by looking at him.
Her heart wants him. She knew that much.
But her mind resisted. Telling her otherwise.
The heart and the mind clahsed once more as they had done multiple times inside everyone.
..
Love him.
Or not love him...
