Chapter 36 – Hidden Desires
Chapter 36 - Hidden Desires
...
Once I reached downstairs, most of the girls seemed to have woken up. It was 7:30 in the morning already, so it was kind of obvious too.
If I remember the schedule correctly, then Jorah's school should begin at 9:00 AM. It shouldn't take us more than 20 minutes by bus to reach there, so we have around.. 1 hour to spare.
Even if that was the case, Jorah had already gotten ready to leave as she was munching on the breakfast like a terminator in action.
This girl.. something seems different about her today. Usually, she would only comb her hair and rush out without caring much about her appearance. Today though, she was wearing light makeup, along with some subtle accessories, like the cute pink hairpin amongst other things.
Is she planning something? Hmmm, no. It doesn't seem like she is capable of doing that. It must be that she has started to become more conscious of her looks now.
Maybe that's how girls grow up, I guess.
As soon as I appeared downstairs though, Lara and Lanita rushed back upstairs as they seemed to be excitedly discussing something.
I couldn't understand what that was about, so I let it pass. It's not like those girls would ever involve me in their matters anyways.
Isla was busy taking the dishes away to wash them with the dishwasher. She must be leaving soon too. Her morning job starts at 8:30 AM, so she didn't have a lot of time left by now.
I sat down on the nearest empty chair and brought a plate full of breakfast to myself. Before I could have it though, the tenant appeared out of nowhere and snatched it away, leaving me to stare at her speechlessly.
She eyed me with scorn as she began to devour the breakfast herself.
Hey, that's bullying, right? I think that was bullying. But, why is she doing that to me? Is she on her period?
Isla must have seen us since she brought another plate of breakfast and left it in front of me. I could tell that the hungry and remorseless tenant was still eyeing my food, so I quickly snatched it away and hugged it close to myself with an arm, while I started to eat it with the other hand.
The air between the two of us seemed to be brewing with a storm. Maybe, the two of us wouldn't be able to get along with each other in this lifetime.
I tried to eat my breakfast in silence without offending the other party, but she seemed to be in the mood to do just that. She shifted her chair closer to mine and brought her head closer to me as she spoke,
"Last night.. what were you doing with the Landlady?"
Although the question was a normal one, for some reason, my body just froze all of a sudden. My hand halted in mid-air as the spoon fell off my hand, dropping the precious food on the table.
"Hmm? What happened? Wait. Don't tell me you...?"
I quickly turned my head away from her and began to ignore her.
Yup. You don't exist. As long as I don't want you to, your existence can be denied by yours truly!
Neglect. Neglect. Neglect.
I continuously shut out anything she spoke or any expression she made and swallowed my breakfast as fast as possible.
Y-Yeah. I have to leave for Jorah's school. She must be getting late. Let's ask her right now!
I quickly stood up and dumped the plate into the dishwasher and washed my hands swiftly before I made a beeline straight toward Jorah's room.
On the way up though, the twins had dressed up in some expensive-looking clothes as they passed me by. I tried my best to hear their conversation this time
"Do you think they will like these?"
"Of course! Both of them are going to be all over us. Males are easy to predict, Lil Sis."
The two of them soon disappeared from my vision as they left for downstairs.
Males? Both of them? All over us?
Are those two going on a double date?
"Ohh~~. Well, lucky them. I wanted to go on one with Celesta too, but..."
Yeah, she doesn't view me as a love interest at all. She made it crystal clear to me long ago. Even if my heart pains me every time I think about this, I must keep my promise to her.
Besides that, let's try calling her again. She must have turned her phone on by now?
I dialed her number and began to hope for good news, but disappointment is all I got. Still Switched Off.
I just hope that she is okay.
...
After gargling with mouthwash and checking my appearance once more, I went to Jorah's room to pick the little lady up for school.
When I opened the door of her room, Jorah seemed to have been writing something in her diary. Her expression seemed to be extremely euphoric at the moment.
I wonder what she is so happy about?
Although I badly wanted to read the details too, I knew that intruding on someone's privacy is not a good thing to do.
So, I stood away from her, maintaining my distance as I coughed lightly to indicate my presence.
"EHH?! Big Sister Carene... A-Ahaha.. I am ready! Let's go!!"
Without giving me a moment to process anything further, she quickly packed up her things and shoved them in a drawer before she grabbed my left arm and started to drag me downstairs.
Ah! Slow down Jorah! I don't think we are too late for your school yet.
I could only weakly nod towards everyone around the Dining area as a form of 'Have a Nice Day', before the two of us were racing down the streets.
I guess Jorah really likes to reach her classes early, right?
...
<POV: Tenant Karami>
Darn it. She got away again.
I am very certain about what I saw last night. The Landlady.. she was being held like 'that' by her.
Not to mention, how those two had been behaving inside that closed room. Even though they tried to appear like they were fighting, the Landlady's eyes didn't seem to tell that same story.
And the evidence was her behavior today. The Landlady was being sooo~ kind to her. Does she really deserve such good treatment?
Why not me then? I also want to be..
Nah! Don't let your mind wander, Karime. Focus.
This Carene is definitely up to no good. Ever since she came here, the carefully maintained equilibrium has been shattered into pieces!
Destroying my day-to-day life like this... do you think I would let you get away from this so easily?
Hmmph! I would get to the bottom of this matter!
And.. what nerve! I told that bitch specifically not to target the young Jorah. But, this crazy woman seems like she is fully intent on doing so.
I have no choice. I must follow them.
If I collect enough evidence of her wrongdoings, then.. one day, this parasite would be out of everyone's life!
And then.. me and the Landlady...
...
A/N: Kitty having a good time. Nyaa~
