Chapter 124 – Restless
Chapter 124 - Restless
...
<POV:Carene>
The commotion died down at last. It had become so exhausting that I wanted to go straight home.
But consoling the poor girls and hoping for the darned offenders not to die out took much of my time.
I had anticipated that those guys would be reported to the law authorities, but they were just left lying around, like dead dogs.
They were carried away by ambulance instead.
The furious girls left together to celebrate while screaming Nihara's name over and over again.
Fearing having created a fanatic group in Nihara's name due to my fault, I swiftly rejected their invitation and ran away at the first chance I could find.
Haaah... what a terrible day...
I just hope that those bullied girls would be able to find peace and comfort after suffering through all of that.
Darn it. Now I feel that meeting Celesta today wasn't the most heart-throbbing thing that happened to me today.
Catching the bus from the University stop, I realised that I was late by two hours due to everything that had happened earlier.
No, forget it. Forget it all.
No need to think about the deeds of those human wastes.
My dear family... and my Sis Lin, they are all waiting for me.
Let's cheer up and remain happy!
Yeah, fuck the world... who needs it...
...
After regaining my composure somehow, I headed home and called out to them by habit.
And surprisingly, Celesta was here already!
By god's sweet grace, how long has it been since I have seen her coming home early?
She returned even earlier than me today?!
Whoa... something must have happened that changed her dedication to her duties.
Oh well, it's a lot better to see her here than not to.
Celesta quickly noticed me, as she left Jorah's side and walked to me as she spoke smilingly,
"Carene? I'm glad that you are back. Hey, um... I was going to go grocery shopping and then... Jorah and I were thinking of going for some bowling practice afterwards... You know, to blow some steam off, or something. Um, and I was wondering if you would like to come along too?"
Celesta's tone seemed somewhat unsure, but she looked to be in a good mood, so I let her have her privacy and didn't choose to fuss over her giddiness.
"Sure. I am ready anytime. Should I change clothes for our outing?"
Celesta shook her head in denial as she quickly responded,
"No, no. You are fine as you are. And... I-I am going to get the purse and stuff for now!"
With that said, Celesta stormed off somewhere upstairs.
I noticed our dear Jorah peeking at our earlier interactions from where she sat while she made some strange gestures that I couldn't make heads or tails of.
Still, I chose to greet her and ask her about her day at School.
Jorah replied very enthusiastically and shared some interesting stories that she recently experienced. Although her eyes kept darting towards the stairs while a weird light seemed to shine within them.
Are all teenage girls like this nowadays?
Maybe it's that generation gap or something. Don't tell me that I have become too old already?!
...
Jorah didn't want to change either, seemingly in a lazy mood for the day, as she stuck close to me while sitting on my lap and chatted elatedly.
When Celesta came back, she had already changed into a beautiful red dress that made her appear more graceful and glamorous than usual.
And... it showed a lot more skin of hers than usual too...
Weren't we going bowling?? Isn't she going to be troubled to play while wearing something like that?
Although she looks a lot prettier than usual, it made me somewhat anxious to think of all those people who would hungrily look at her exposed skin.
Nonononono... I can't let that happen! Only I am allowed to witness Celesta's otherworldly beauty! Not to mention her exposed skin!!
I felt Jorah's body shaking while she snickered for a bit, as she stood up from my lap and rushed to hug the beauty in red tightly as she spoke cheerfully,
"Big Sis! You look so awesome! We are going to have a blast today! Hehehe... you see..."
Jorah began to whisper something into Celesta's ear, but I couldn't hear anything. Celesta simply nodded and made a guts pose while replying sneakily to her.
What's up with these sisters today? Are they role-playing as secret agents or something??
Damn it. I wanted to play along too...
...
Jorah pushed both of us from behind and winked at me strangely before walking ahead of us a few steps.
That's when I realised what was happening.
Wait a second... is Jorah setting up a d-date for me?!
I remember her talking about treating Celesta well and to pursue her if I like her so much.
And I wanted to do that too, but...
Oh, no... I became too nervous already!
If it were just a simple outing, I wouldn't have minded it much. But now... how the hell am I supposed to act smooth with Celesta?!
The difficulty went from easy to nightmare mode instantly!
Should I kiss her already? O-Or hold her hand or something??
No, stop. Although Celesta invited me, it wasn't confirmed to be a date or anything. I must not let my mind run around with those delusions of mine!
Although it did make me feel sad, this would probably be a one-sided date for today...
No, cheer up, Carene! Focus on making Celesta smile a lot and making her have a good time.
I had made her cry earlier today, too... I must try to make it up to her.
And besides that... isn't this a god gifted... no, Jorah-gifted thing, to be able to go on a date with Celesta?
Yeah! I should just make the most of the moment! Alright! Let's do it!!
...
My mood quickly turned sour when I noticed some strangers sneakily click Celesta's pic on their phone as they grinned wickedly.
Darn it..! I want to smash their teeth in! Those... assholes..!!
No, don't lose it, Carene. Breathe... breathe...
Wanting to stop those dark feelings within myself, I quickly approached Celesta's side and held her hand within mine casually and spoke,
"Hey, Celesta? The weather isn't so warm anymore, you know? It's better to dress more warmly. What would we do if you fell sick?"
"Eh, ah... yeah."
Celesta looked stunned for a bit before she stared down dejectedly.
What?? D-Did I say something wrong?
Jorah was looking back at me while slapping her forehead with her palm.
Ah... I screwed up somehow. But, what should I do now..?
While I kept thinking of that, time passed quickly, and before I noticed... I had held hands with Celesta for too long already!!
Celesta didn't look so sad any longer, as her cheeks looked red while she happily conversed with Jorah while glancing at our joined hands from time to time.
Oh, shit... how did I do such a pro move so smoothly?!
As I looked at Jorah in confusion, she happily gave me a thumbs-up sign to applaud my efforts.
I-It won't be natural to suddenly let go of Celesta's hand at this point in time, right?
Hmm... might as well keep holding on to it!
Such soft and warm hands... should I never wash that hand ever again?
No, no. Think rationally, Carene. The date has just begun. Let's make Celesta even happier than right now.
Although... the number of strangers clicking Celesta's pic rose sharply after I joined hands with her.
Yeah, I failed miserably to drive them away...
...
A/N: It's been raining here like crazy. How has it been where you guys live?
