Chapter 36: Characters!

Chapter 36: Characters!

A reader asked me to pull together a formal character overview to help everyone keep clear track of all the names moving across the board lately. Although he originally suggested dropping this straight into a glossary file, I know from experience that most readers completely skip or overlook them entirely. To make things as easy as possible, I am publishing our current character standing right here in a highly accessible chapter. Plus, positioning it as a live narrative breakdown guarantees the entries stay completely spoiler-free for your current reading path. Thank you all for understanding!

Core Cast

Rick Lee (Li)The primary protagonist and current mortal host of the Yellow Emperor and the Imperial Yellow-Gold Dragon. He is eighteen years old and currently entering his first semester at Star University to pursue a business management degree. Upon reaching his eighteenth birthday, his reincarnation System permanently jammed a massive matrix of custom-chosen skills directly into his mind and muscle memory before completely quitting, leaving him high and dry to navigate the world as a mortal. His hardwired skills are all-encompassing from the moment they manifested, meaning he can only sharpen his capabilities through natural, real-world human experience going forward. He is currently legally married to his two co-wives, Mary Lee and Hana Lee.

Mary LeeTwenty-two years old, Rick's step-sister, and now his legal co-wife. Four years ago, she joined the local police department following the sudden, tragic passing of her mother, Lucy Lee, and her stepfather, Rick's father. Through sheer analytical grit, she has already risen to become the youngest active detective in the Star City police force. She is currently one month pregnant with Rick's child.

Hana Lee (Formally Chang)Twenty-five years old, a prominent doctor at Star General Hospital, and the physician in complete operational charge of the emergency room department. She harbors a heavy, private racing addiction as a high-speed amateur drifter and possesses a distinct personal tendency to wear provocative clothing outside the workplace. Following their rigorous wedding night activities at the estate, Hana is highly expected to be pregnant with Rick's next child.

Kate KongAn eighteen-year-old high-profile movie star who has recently transitioned into a wildly successful commercial singing career. She is most universally noted for her iconic lead role in a prominent princess vampire movie franchise that Rick absolutely adores. Miss Kong currently serves as his ultimate secret idol crush.

May LeeThirty-one years old and Rick’s biological aunt, working deep within the central government's secret intelligence network handling sensitive domestic affairs. She is widely recognized and deeply feared across the continent as one of the top white-hat hackers in charge of national security defense, having personally thwarted numerous digital threats to Eurasia. Her high-tier computer programming and counter-intrusion skills are completely on par with Rick’s own master-tier metrics.

General LeeA powerful military figure in his late fifties who serves as the supreme commander of the Self-Defense Force for the entirety of Eurasia. He is the traditional patriarch and former head of the elite Lee (Li) clan—a noble house that his grandson, Rick, has explicitly never been a part of. Rick and the General have not spoken a single word to one another in eight years, stemming back to a public incident where Rick scolded the commander to his face as a ten-year-old child.

Dean John Chang & Gloria ChangHana Lee’s parents and Rick’s brand-new university in-laws. John serves as the absolute Dean of Star University, while his wife, Gloria, operates as one of the head professors steering the prominent archaeology department on campus.

James Tong (Jim)Currently Rick Lee’s sole male friend and closest ally. He is a tall, beanpole of a friendly eighteen-year-old kid who successfully followed Rick into the student body at Star University solely because Rick covertly hacked the institution's main grading server to alter his entrance exam scores. James is currently dating Hana’s close nurse friend, Akeno, completely unaware that she is likely executing a high-stakes campaign to get knocked up to secure permanent national citizenship.

Tina FengA nineteen-year-old university classmate of Rick's who has been rigorously trained from early childhood by her mother in the lethal arts of professional assassination. She has recently taken on the heavy mantle of vice leader for her family's syndicate, the Fire Birds. She and her father are currently conducting a high-stakes, real-world martial arts tournament for a classified family purpose, utilizing street fighters as live players on a massive bracket. She currently acts as Rick's official employer for high-paying bodyguard contracts.

Linda LangAn eighteen-year-old student who has sat in the exact same high school classrooms as Rick for the past four years. She was the wealthy girl saved during a violent crisis by Rick's father at the absolute cost of his own life. As a result of that trauma, Linda suffers from a severe, psychosomatic fear of blood and physical violence, but her psychological panic is uniquely calmed whenever a member of the Lee lineage is physically near her. Because of Rick and his father, she has completely discarded her high-and-mighty noble programming, realizing that commoners are just as vital to the world as the elite houses. Discovering that Rick's background carries far more historical weight than she ever realized has only deepened her respect for the Lee men. She is currently locked in a bitter political battle against her family regarding her forced engagement to Scott Tang.

Victoria LongA twenty-three-year-old business prodigy and the third daughter of the Long dynasty, operating under the strict authority of her eldest sister, Kimberly, the current Head of the house. Victoria is a corporate genius commanding the operations of the Long Star Group, and she is currently starting her very first term as a business professor at Star University. She arrived on campus with a dual mandate: scout out fresh talent for the family's corporate interests and keep a very close eye on her niece, who is entirely new to the modern city environment. Victoria is actively and relentlessly courted by many of the most powerful men in the region, all hoping to secure a structural foothold in the Long family’s massive financial empire.

Nadia & Nichole Tang (Formally Ning)Identical twin eighteen-year-old students and fellow university classmates. They represent the most controversial, high-stakes relationship in Rick's entire life. They were the pair responsible for taking his virginity, and unknown to Rick's current calculations, both twins are actively carrying his biological children. The massive genetic complication stems from the fact that they are legally married to Scott Tang—though due to the twins' brilliant social meddling, Scott has never actually managed to have sex with either of them. It remains one of the most complex, multi-layered green-hat operations to ever occur in high society. Up until the exact moment they crossed paths with Rick, the twins strictly preferred the company of other women; Rick is the only male on the planet they have ever felt genuine sexual attraction or deeper feelings toward. In reality, the twins and Rick are deeply in love with each other, though neither side fully realizes the depth of the connection yet. The ultimate cosmic joke of the situation is that under the city's registry law, the babies will still be born officially carrying the Tang surname.

The 4 Main Families

The Feng (Phoenix Clan)The current patriarch and family Head is Tony Feng, running the house alongside his wife, Lane Feng, who handles Tina's specialized training. Their first daughter, Jill Feng, is the designated next in line to inherit the mantle of Head, operating as the sharp older sister to Tina Feng.

The Lang (Black Tortoise Clan)The current family Head is George Lang, commanding the house alongside his traditional wife, Sue Lang. Their eldest daughter, Tonya Lang, is the designated next head of the lineage, while the youngest daughter is Linda Lang.

The Long (Azure Dragon Clan)The current family Head is Kimberly Long, ruling the house alongside her submissive husband, Rex Long. The designated next head of the family empire is Nick Long. Kimberly is the oldest of exactly three sisters, with Victoria operating as the youngest of the trio. Rick's father was originally betrothed to marry the middle sister, Laura Long, who has since married into the branch syndicate operations and has a daughter named Ashley Hue.

The Tang (White Tiger Clan)The current family Head is Anthony Tang, who was recently uncovered to be Rick's biological maternal uncle. His wife, Debby Tang, is the overly pampering mother to Scott Tang. The first daughter of the main line, Helen Tang, is the absolute designated next Head of the family dynasty.

Kim SmithA twenty-seven-year-old medical professional originally hailing from the United Kingdom of America. She operates as a senior nurse at Star General Hospital and is one of Hana’s closest personal friends.

Akeno MinamotoA twenty-four-year-old nurse working alongside Hana at the hospital, originally from the Empire of Japan. She is currently dating James, though her primary underlying motivation is presumably a targeted campaign to have a child with him to secure permanent domestic citizenship. Whether the relationship is built on pure love or a raw immigration play, James is too happy to care.

Ashley HueAn eighteen-year-old university student and the biological daughter of the Long sister who was originally betrothed to Rick's father. Years ago, her mother completely refused to accept the presence of the Tang woman in his life, prompting Rick's father to dump her on the spot. Following the split, her mother married the supreme leader of the Hidden Dragons syndicate. Ashley was raised entirely outside the structure of modern cities, growing up inside a secluded mountain monastery. She operates directly under her father's authority within the Hidden Dragons network and is currently attending Star University as a direct classmate to Rick and the rest of the circle.

Jennifer HanA nineteen-year-old administrative secretary for the Fire Birds syndicate, who also functions as the personal maid to Tina Feng.

Supporting Male Cast

Scott TangAn eighteen-year-old university student and Rick Lee’s biological blood cousin. Due to his mother’s toxic promptings during their middle school years, he became Rick’s primary, hateful rival. His intense hatred peaked when Rick approached Linda Lang, textually tainting the air around the girl of Scott's dreams. Years of freely and systematically bullying Rick with total impunity have left Scott entirely irrational, serving as the textbook definition of an arrogant noble young master. His sudden, absolute inability to bully or suppress Rick has dealt a devastating blow to his self-worth, causing him to hemorrhage money and make incredibly poor life choices.

Tony & Alex DengA twenty-three-year-old student and his forty-three-year-old father. Tony serves as the active Karate club captain at Star University, while his father operates as a high-level businessman commanding the city's sports arenas and professional fight promotion events.

Nick SotoA sharp, middle-aged legal counsel who handles private attorney affairs for both Linda Lang and Rick.

Hank HoThe high-profile corporate lawyer who handles sensitive legal affairs for Tony Deng and his father’s promotional businesses.

Steve WooA twenty-seven-year-old incoming police detective transferred down from the Scarlet State up North. He is Tony Feng’s absolute number-one hand-picked fighter to represent his interests in the secret martial arts game currently being played across the city. He also harbors a deeply unsettling, unhealthy personal obsession with Rick’s co-wife, detective Mary Lee.

Chris HondaThirty years old, a fellow medical professional at Star General Hospital, and the ex-lover of Hana Lee. He currently serves as the chief of plastic surgery for the entire medical facility. Years ago, he was widely regarded as a medical genius, and Hana originally believed he genuinely loved her for who she was. However, the exact moment she uncovered the ugly truth behind his transactional motivations, she ended the relationship permanently, a full five years prior to ever crossing paths with Rick. He currently harbors a deeply bitter, unhinged obsession with winning Hana back and ruining Rick's reputation.
