Chapter 93. Marriage Material
Succubi Chapter 93. Marriage Material
Dinner carried on.
Plates clinked. Silverware scraped. The smell of roasted meats and spiced rice hung heavy in the air like a warm blanket woven from garlic, butter, and demonic comfort. Honestly? I was already on plate two or maybe three. I'd lost count. Hunger does that to a man, especially one who had just survived a death match and a Sloth-powered blowjob.
Yeah. Wild day.
And the vibe at the table had shifted again.
It wasn’t judgmental now. Or awkward. The side-eyes and teasing were still there, yeah, but it felt softer somehow. Like the storm had passed and what remained was this weird, messy, semi-functional family of chaotic sin-aligned girls who might kill each other… or hug each other… or braid each other’s hair while plotting wars. Honestly, hard to tell with them.
I reached for more mashed potatoes when Rivy, sitting two chairs down, cleared her throat. Her voice wasn’t sharp like usual, it had this… gentler edge.
“Still,” she said, “it’s okay to feel, Evan. You need to know that.”
I paused.
Fork halfway to my mouth.
I looked at her. She wasn’t glaring or smirking. Just… watching me. Honestly watching me.
And that?
That got me more than I expected.
I gave her a weak smile. The best I could manage.
“Thanks,” I said quietly. Then nodded.
And went back to eating.
No, I didn’t promise her anything. Couldn’t. Not because I didn’t want to, but because I couldn’t even promise myself.
I just… didn’t know how to process things the right way anymore.
I wasn’t numb. Not really. But I was tired. Not the ‘need sleep’ kind of tired... the kind that settles in your bones, your soul. The kind that makes you filter emotions like a broken coffee strainer.
Truth was… I’d been like this for a while.
Maybe I didn’t even notice it happening.
But somewhere along the line, I’d stopped really feeling things. Or at least, I stopped letting them show.
Because if I did?
Everything would break.
I genuinely felt like if I gave my fears a single inch, they’d swallow everything. So I clung to something else.
Optimism.
Hope.
Even if it was forced sometimes.
I smiled. I joked. I shrugged things off. And I told myself over and over...
Just keep moving forward.
You’ll survive.
You’ll grow.
You’ll win.
That’s all that mattered, right?
…Right?
A soft plop interrupted my spiral.
A new piece of brisket landed perfectly in the center of my plate. A big one. The best one. The one I’d been eyeing like it was a wedding ring with gravy.
I turned my head.
Sera.
Her tentacle retracted as she leaned her cheek on her hand, watching me with a quiet smile. No teasing. No sleepy mischief. Just soft affection.
“You need to eat more, Evan,” she said gently.
I blinked.
Then looked at the meat again.
Juicy. Slightly charred at the edges. Fat glistening just enough to make my soul ascend. It was perfection. Literal marriage material.
And Sera gave it to me.
I smiled. My happiest, stupidest, most sincere smile. “Thank you.”
Her eyes widened.
She looked stunned.
Then... blush.
Deep, pink blush.
Like I'd just proposed or something.
All her tentacles suddenly poofed out around her in flustered chaos, like a startled octopus in heat.
She squeaked.
Then the tentacles zoomed around the table in hyper mode, grabbing bits of this and that. A dumpling. Some cheese. A cut of honey-glazed chicken. A spoonful of eggy rice. All carefully collected and placed into a fresh, clean plate in front of her.
I blinked as she assembled a mini buffet with surprising coordination. She picked up a spoon, scooped a bit of it, turned to me...
And said it.
“Ah~”
With that face.
The innocent one.
The sleepy, warm-eyed, marshmallow soul stare. Like she was feeding a sick kitten. And her voice? It had this dreamy lilt that was just too much.
I cringed.
Hard.
My whole spine curled inward like a folding chair.
“Please no,” I whispered.
Her eyes sparkled. She held the spoon closer.
“Say ah~”
And help me, I opened my damn mouth.
She fed me.
I ate.
It was actually amazing.
And she?
She beamed. Full teeth. Little happy hums. She looked like she just saved a village with one spoon.
“I can feed you if you want,” she said softly.
I nodded dumbly. “Thank you?”
And just like that, her tentacles reattached. Cling mode activated. Around my waist. My back. One even looped around my leg.
I froze.
The room froze with me.
And then...
I felt it.
The gaze.
Not one.
Not two.
All of them.
Lilith sipped her wine like she was watching a telenovela. Gladia stared at the meat on her plate like it had betrayed her. Val’s eyes narrowed just slightly, calculating. Evelyn’s fork froze mid-air. Rivy just muttered something under her breath that sounded vaguely like “Unbelievable.”
Yeah.
Laser gazes.
Sharp enough to shave my soul.
Jealousy?
Maybe.
Envy?
Probably.
Possessiveness?
Definitely.
I shifted nervously. “Uhh…”
Sera just smiled and pressed closer to me like I was her favorite body pillow.
Rivy finally broke the silence. “Do you have to cling to him while feeding him like a toddler?”
Sera tilted her head. “He likes it.”
“I do not—”
“You smiled,” she cut in.
“I smiled because you gave me meat.”
Lilith purred. “You did look happy, Evan~”
“I was hungry!”
Gladia grunted. “Dude. You made eye contact with that brisket.”
Val smirked. “He looked at it like it whispered sweet promises in his ear.”
“It kinda did,” I admitted.
Rivy slapped her forehead. “Unreal.”
Sera continued feeding me like I hadn’t just been verbally dissected at the table.
More meat. Another spoon. Some honey fruit.
My soul left my body with every bite. She made a combo plate worthy of Hell’s Michelin stars.
And every time I chewed, the girls stared more.
Rivy, clearly losing patience.
Val, now leaning her chin on her palm with an unreadable smirk.
Gladia, visibly twitching.
Evelyn, full red, but suspiciously quiet.
Lilith, loving every second.
“Would you like another?” Sera asked.
“I… I guess.”
“You guess?” she pouted.
“Okay, yes.”
She smiled again.
My life flashed before my eyes.
And my stomach? Oh, it was having the time of its life.
Then, just to make it worse, Sera leaned into my ear and whispered, “Do you want me to chew it and mouth-feed you next time?”
I choked on rice.
The girls heard.
Rivy nearly flipped the table. “SERIOUSLY?!”
Val just whispered, “Wow.”
Lilith clapped her hands slowly. “Sloth wins this round.”
Sera just giggled, hugging me tighter.
I whimpered softly and kept eating.
Yeah.
This dorm was going to kill me.
But damn… the food was good.
