Chapter 60. Tentacles
Succubi Chapter 60. Tentacles
Jet black tentacles. Smooth and glistening like polished obsidian, tapering off into wicked curved tips. They moved with this slow, deliberate grace, brushing across the room like they were feeling the atmosphere itself.
And they were sprouting from her back.
Specifically— Where her wings had been.
I froze.
“What the…” I breathed.
Sera blinked, still hugging me, her lips inches from my ear. “Hm?”
I pulled back slightly, eyes wide, trying not to freak the hell out.
“Sera,” I said, calm voice, calm prideful voice, totally not panicking. “Why do you have tentacles right now?”
She blinked again.
Then her ears twitched.
She looked back over her shoulder—and saw them. All six. Flicking, patting, caressing the air like they were excited to be perceived.
“Oh,” she said.
“OH?” I repeated, voice cracking.
Her face flushed a little. “Oops.”
“Oops?!”
She looked at me sheepishly. “They come out automatically when I’m… relaxed.”
“RELAXED?!”
“Or curious. They’re kinda connected to instinct too! I didn’t even realize.”
I sat up, somehow rolling out of her hold and the tangle of limbs and tentacle-appendages now decorating the bed like some cursed demon cuddle trap.
“Sera, that’s a Lovecraftian upgrade! You have six murder noodles on your back!”
“They’re harmless,” she said, still calm.
One of them reached toward me. I swatted it gently.
It retreated, wiggling like it was offended.
I pointed at it. “That one has opinions.”
Sera pouted. “You said you were stressed. I just wanted to comfort you.”
“Comfort?!” I gestured at the nightmare mess around me. “This is tentacle therapy.”
She snorted. “You’re overreacting.”
I stared at her. Then at the tentacles. One of them waved.
“I need coffee,” I muttered, getting out of bed. “Or tea.”
Sera flopped back on the bed, tentacles curling around her like a warm hug, smug and completely unbothered.
“Suit yourself,” she yawned. “They like you, though.”
“Not comforting,” I deadpanned.
I walked to the bathroom to shower and maybe re-evaluate my entire life, but then I heard her whisper behind me.
“Better get used to them. They come out when I get… excited too.”
I tripped into the doorframe.
Hard.
Shoulder smacked the wood. Hip caught the edge.
Pride? Yeah, that got yeeted into the abyss.
I stood there for a solid two seconds, pressing my forehead against the door and exhaling through my nose like a man who just had his soul lightly gnawed on by a cuddly eldritch horror.
And behind me?
Sera.
Giggling like a gremlin who just unlocked a new form of psychological warfare.
“Glad one of us is enjoying this,” I muttered.
She made a happy little hum and rolled over, tentacles still slithering lazily around her like smug shadow cats. One of them even waved at me again. I gave it the finger and stumbled toward the wardrobe.
‘Focus, Evan. Academy. Morning routine. Survive.’
I opened the drawer and yanked out my bath kit—a small black pouch with soap, shampoo, toothpaste, all enchantment-sealed for easy access. I grabbed my towel next, slinging it over my shoulder, already running on autopilot.
I left the room barefoot. The corridor was quiet. Blessedly so.
Great start.
I stepped into a cubicle and finally let the tension out of my shoulders. The hot water poured down like liquid therapy. Steam rose around me, softening the world. Just for a second, I could breathe.
Just me and soap.
I scrubbed quickly—standard academy rinse cycle. Shampoo, body wash, splash of cold water at the end just to shock myself back into gear. By the time I finished and twisted the dial, I felt like a person again. Kind of.
I grabbed my towel, dried off my hair, stepped out of the cubicle—
And that’s when it hit me.
I blinked. Looked at the bench where I’d left my stuff.
Towel: check.
Bath kit: check.
Change of clothes—
…
Oh.
Oh no.
I slowly turned in a full circle, towel sagging slightly from the twist.
“No way,” I muttered.
But yes.
Way.
I hadn’t grabbed my uniform. Not even underwear. Not even a stupid academy hoodie. Just the towel. I’d left in such a post-tentacle-cuddle haze that I forgot the most important part of the post-shower sequence.
Clothes.
I stood there, dripping slightly, staring at the fogged glass wall like it might manifest a pair of pants if I begged hard enough.
It didn’t.
I huffed.
Still, this was the succubus dorm. Modesty wasn’t exactly sacred here.
I tightened the towel at my waist and walked out with as much dignity as I could salvage.
The hallways were more awake now. Gladia passed by and gave me a slow once-over. Rivy whistled.
Rivy just outright said, “Nice abs, Anomaly.”
I blinked.
Then lifted one brow a little higher, subtle flex included. If I couldn’t hide the shame… I might as well weaponize it.
“Thanks,” I said coolly. “Shower gains.”
Gladia leaned a little closer. “You always this bold in the morning, or is the towel giving you confidence?”
“No,” I said. “The near-death experience with a tentacle cuddle monster gave me confidence.”
“Oh?” Rivy’s eyes sparkled. “Sera?”
Gladia clapped. “I bet. She’s got that clingy sleeper energy.”
I adjusted my towel knot. “Yeah. She’s got six-tentacle-back mutation energy.”
They stared at me for a second.
Then cracked up.
“Oh!” Rivy wheezed. “She activated her tentacles in her sleep?!”
“They were coiling around my leg,” I deadpanned. “I thought I was being seduced by a kraken.”
“Maybe you were,” Gladia offered helpfully. “Consent is a squirmy thing in this dorm.”
“Sounds about right.”
They kept walking with me for a bit, still giggling while I tried to maintain what was left of my mortal dignity.
“You know,” Gladia said casually, popping the last bit of her protein bar, “you could just skip clothes. It’s not like anyone here would complain.”
“Tempting,” I muttered. “But no. I’m gonna get dressed before I end up a dorm myth.”
“Too late,” Rivy said with a wink. “You’re already trending in our group chat.”
I didn’t respond.
I just sighed and veered off to my room before they got even more ideas.
Thankfully, the room was empty.
No Sera. No tentacle.
Just the faint leftover warmth in the bedsheets and the smell of lavender and mischief.
I closed the door, leaned against it for a second, and let out a long breath.
“Right,” I muttered. “Clothes.”
I opened my wardrobe and yanked out my uniform. Classic occult school design.
I ran fingers through my damp hair, gave my reflection a once-over in the mirrored panel of the wardrobe, and nodded.
Time to face round two of the morning.
The dining room was alive with soft clatter and warm conversation when I stepped in.
The scent of fresh toast and caramelized butter filled the space, layered with cinnamon, roasted herb sausage, and honeyed fruits. The soft glow of early morning filtered in through the high arched window.
Everyone was already seated.
Lilith, of course, at the head, sipping from her matte black mug like it contained secrets and the crushed hopes of her enemies.
Val, reading a report scroll with one hand while casually spearing sausage with the other.
Rivy and Gladia seated near each other, still giggling, probably from round one of towel drama.
Sera sat a little further down the table, looking innocent as a kitten—no sign of tentacles, just a soft smile and a plate of toast.
And Evelyn.
Evelyn looked up the second I stepped in.
And froze.
Her eyes narrowed.
She lowered her teacup like she was about to cast a divine judgment spell.
“You look like you just saw the void,” she said flatly.
I walked in, grabbed an empty seat, and poured myself tea like I hadn’t just been psychologically groped by an eldritch cuddlebeast.
“That’s because I did,” I muttered.
Gladia leaned in. “Tentacle dream, part two?”
“Nope,” I said, buttering a piece of toast with deadly precision. “Just part one. Full contact. Morning edition.”
Evelyn blinked. “I beg your pardon?”
I set my teacup down with a slow exhale. “Sera’s wings… they turned into tentacles. In her sleep.”
There was a pause.
Val didn’t even look up. She just raised one eyebrow and said, “Yeah, that tracks.”
Lilith’s mug froze an inch from her lips. But she didn’t look surprised—just mildly amused.
Sera blinked at me, innocent as ever, a forkful of honeyfruit paused midair. “They’re cozy…”
“They were everywhere,” I said, staring at her like I’d just survived a war zone. “Wiggling. Wrapping. Exploring. I thought I was being eaten alive.”
“They like warmth,” Sera said brightly, taking a sip of her tea.
I chewed my toast with the numb determination of a man who’d stared into the abyss and been spooned by it.
“Next time,” I muttered, “I’m wrapping myself in barrier spells, a sleeping bag, and at least three holy seals.”
“They’d probably just hug you tighter,” Rivy said.
Evelyn looked at me with genuine sympathy. “So. You survived?”
“Barely.”
Sera smiled sweetly. “You’re overreacting.”
“They were wrapped around my leg.”
“They were being affectionate.”
“One of them waved at me.”
“And that’s how you know they like you,” Gladia said, clapping once.
