For a long moment, the only sound was our breathing—rough, desperate, still tangled together.
The fog on the mirror had thinned, the marble cool beneath her stomach, and I was still inside the echo of that heat, that chaos, that overwhelming her.
But I didn’t move away.
I didn’t step back and make some dumb joke or grab a towel and pretend I wasn’t just… completely wrecked by what just happened.
No.
I stayed.
I leaned forward, still flush against her back, arms sliding around her waist, and just—hugged her. My chest pressed to her spine, skin to skin, heartbeat to heartbeat.
“...You’re mine now,” I whispered, voice rough and lower than usual.
Val chuckled, soft and lazy, like a cat who’d just stolen something expensive off the shelf. “You really sound like a Pride demon.”
“I am,” I murmured, nuzzling into the damp curve of her neck.
And then we went quiet again.
Not awkward quiet.
Just… still.
The kind of silence that pressed around me like warm water. No pressure. No rush. Just being there, hearts pounding in sync, steam curling around us, and the soft sound of water dripping from the edge of the counter to the tiled floor.
I held her tighter.
I didn’t know why.
Didn’t even know what I was feeling.
Because here’s the thing… I’d just had sex with a succubus. A virgin succubus. Who walked into my shower like it was hers, stripped me with her eyes, pushed every button I didn’t know I had, and then let me take her like I owned her.
And now?
Now I just wanted to hold her.
Not grope. Not tease. Not flip her over and go for round two like some horny teenage monster.
I just wanted to hold her. Feel her breath. Listen to her heart.
Weird.
Uncomfortable kind of weird. Because I don’t do this.
I’m Pride. I don’t cling.
But here I was. Clinging like a man lost in the desert who found a patch of shade.
Maybe this is what they call comfort. That steady rhythm of being close to someone without feeling like I had to perform. Or pretend. Or protect myself.
Or maybe...
Love?
Nah. That’s too fast. That’s too storybook.
Right?
...Right?
Hell, what do I even know about love? Most of what I’ve felt falls under “casual like,” “distant curiosity,” or “I guess this is okay.” I’ve dated before, but it always felt like a one-sided favor exchange. A task. A trial.
But this?
With her?
This felt like being pulled into orbit.
I closed my eyes, trying to sort through the mess inside me. Lust? Sure. That part was obvious. But this other thing—this need to keep her close, this heat in my chest that had nothing to do with the sex?
I didn’t get it.
And maybe I didn’t want to.
Because if I did get it… then it’d mean I’m vulnerable.
Again.
I exhaled, slow and quiet.
Let it go.
I opened my eyes and let my arms slide off her waist gently. I pulled away, finally, stepping back, giving us both a breath of space.
She shifted too, slowly straightening with that casual grace of someone who knew she was gorgeous, towel forgotten, hair dripping in tangled dark waves down her back.
And that’s when I saw it.
The streak of blood trailing softly down her inner thigh.
I froze.
My breath hitched.
Not from guilt.
But because... it looked surreal. Almost sacred.
Her virgin blood.
It was strange. Strange because I knew what it meant—not biologically, but symbolically. She chose this. Chose me. A succubus giving away her first time wasn’t some random fling. It was intentional.
And yeah, okay, I wasn’t expecting to see it so clearly. I hear about that stuff in theory. But seeing it? There, like a soft ribbon tracing the path of what we’d just done?
Yeah. It hit me harder than expected.
I stared.
Silent.
Processing.
She turned slowly, caught my look, and gave me a smirk so smug I nearly barked a laugh.
“You look surprised,” she said, stepping back toward the running water. “Never seen it before?”
I blinked, shook my head. “No.”
She raised a brow. “And?”
“You look… okay with it,” I said dumbly.
She shrugged like I’d asked her if she wanted fries with her order. “I’m a succubus,” she said, stepping into the shower again. “We don’t exactly get squeamish.”
The water hit her skin, washing the blood away like it was nothing. Like I hadn’t just seen something permanently seared into my memory.
“But,” she added casually, voice echoing faintly in the tiled space, “I guess this means I can’t collect you now.”
That... made me frown.
She exhaled dramatically. “So sad.”
I stepped toward the sink, grabbed a towel, still trying to wrap my brain around that one. “Wait. What do you mean, collect me?”
She didn’t answer right away.
Just kept showering, humming under her breath like some goddess of chaos who just dropped a grenade and walked away.
“I mean,” I continued, confused, “is this related to your weird collection hobby?”
Her voice floated back through the mist, offended and playful. “Hey. It’s not weird.”
I frowned at the glass panel, trying to picture it. “Really? Because the way you said collection made it sound like you were hiding… I don’t know—human limbs in jars or something.”
She laughed. “Gods, no. That’s disgusting.”
“You say that,” I muttered, still suspicious. “But you’re a succubus. My standards for ‘terrifying hobby’ are already messed up.”
“That’s rude.”
“That’s caution,” I said. “You waltz into the bath, seduce me, bleed on the floor, and then tell me I almost got added to your collection? Excuse me for imagining a shelf full of ex-boyfriends’ skulls.”
“That would be so impractical,” she snorted. “Skulls don’t stack well.”
“…That wasn’t a denial.”
She paused dramatically. “Okay, fair. But for the record, it’s not body parts. It’s more like… emotional souvenirs.”
I blinked. “Come again?”
“My collection,” she said, running her hands through her hair under the stream of water, “is made up of boys’ love confessions. Their devotion. Their heartbreak. You’d be surprised how potent it is.”
I stared at her silhouette through the mist like she was a walking, talking red flag dipped in glitter.
“…You’re telling me you collect guys’ emotional breakdowns like they’re baseball cards?”
She smirked, voice echoing faintly. “You have to see their faces when they realize I was never going to say yes.”
I stared.
Just—stared.
“...That’s evil,” I muttered.
“Efficient,” she countered. “I like my trophies dramatic.”
I rubbed my face. “So… what. I dodged the heartbreak trophy shelf?”
She didn’t answer for a moment.
Just hummed.
And then, she turned slightly, peeking at me through the curtain of steam. “You didn’t dodge. I just didn’t want to collect you.”
I squinted. “Wait. Why not?”
She gave me this unreadable look. Like she was debating if I was ready for the answer.
And then, with that same half-laugh, half-sigh voice, she said, “Because I like you.”
I froze.
Again.
Damn it, why does she keep doing that?
“Like… like-like?” I asked, already regretting the phrasing.
“You’re such a dork sometimes,” she groaned, rinsing her hair. “Yes. Like-like. Happy now?”
I blinked, towel halfway over my head.
I’d just had mind-blowing sex with a prideful virgin succubus who collected shattered boy hearts like vintage postcards, and now she was here telling me she actually liked me?
This day had range.
“So… what now?” I asked.
Val finished washing and turned off the shower, stepping out with water streaming down her body like some forbidden statue that belonged in a temple no mortal was allowed to enter.
“What now?” she repeated, grabbing a fresh towel. “Now we eat.”
I blinked again. “Eat?”
She wrapped the towel around herself like a queen draping herself in luxury. “Yeah. Sex makes me hungry. Especially with you. But not that kind of ‘hungry’. Lilith’s food. ”
“…That sounds both flattering and threatening.”
She winked. “Good.”
And as she walked past me, completely unfazed, she added, “Also… you owe me a date.”
I gawked. “Wait, what?”
“You heard me.” She grinned. “You took my first time.”
“…You really are terrifying.”
“And you really like it.”
…
Shit.
She had me there.
