As the sun set on the bustling city of New York, the sound of an explosion echoed through the street, causing concerned residents to dial emergency services. The New York Police Department quickly received numerous calls, prompting them to take action and investigate the source of the commotion.

Acting on a tip from an informant, they called upon the highly trained SSR agents to assist them in their mission. Without hesitation, the agents rushed to the scene, as they prepared for the unknown danger that awaited them. Upon arrival, they found a warehouse barricaded and ominous smoke billowing from its interior. With a sense of urgency, the agents set about securing the area.

Peggy drove up to the warehouse and parked her car quickly. She exited the vehicle, her footsteps echoing against the concrete floor as she made her way to the warehouse. As she entered inside, she saw Fennhoff, handcuffed and unconscious. A muzzle had been placed over his mouth to prevent him from using his powers to manipulate those around him.

While Peggy was focusing on Fennhoff, her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of footsteps approaching her. She turned to see her colleague, Sousa, walking towards her, holding a piece of paper in his hand.

"We have something interesting here," he said, handing the paper to her.

Peggy took the paper and began to read it. Her eyes immediately zeroed in on the name - The Phantom Reaper - and she paused for a moment, considering the significance of the information. As she was about to return the paper to Sousa, she noticed something that made her suspicious: the handwriting looked familiar. She narrowed her eyes, her mind racing as she tried to connect the dots and piece where she had seen the handwriting before her.

Meanwhile,

As Howard slowly came to his senses, he found himself back in the hotel room, his memory hazy and disjointed. With a groggy sigh of relief, he realized that he had been returned to safety. Howard was grateful to the mysterious person who had intervened and rescued him from the kidnapping attempt he had faced.

Quickly regaining his composure, Howard picked up the phone and dialed the numbers for both Jarvis and Peggy. He knew that they were the only ones he could trust to help him make sense of the situation and to uncover the truth behind his recent ordeal.

Several hours later, Jarvis and Peggy arrived at Howard's hotel room. Peggy wasted no time in getting to the heart of the matter and asked, "Why did you call me?"

Howard, still shaken from his recent ordeal, replied urgently, "I was kidnapped!"

Peggy's initial response was plain and matter-of-fact, "Oh! So?" However, Howard couldn't believe her lack of concern and demanded, "What? Why aren't you worried?"

Peggy calmly explained, "Why should I be worried? Didn't I tell you that it would be the last time I would help you? Moreover, you seem to be okay so, I don't care."

Howard let out a deep sigh, realizing that he had no choice but to level with her. He said, "Okay, I....was kidnapped at gunpoint by one of my previous flings, Dottie Underwood."

As he spoke, Howard's mind raced with the memory of Dottie's seductive gaze and the dangerous allure that had once drawn him to her.

Peggy's interest was piqued as soon as Howard mentioned Dottie's name, as she had been searching for her ever since Fennhoff's plot involving the Midnight Oil canisters.

Howard continued to recount the harrowing details of his kidnapping, his voice trembling as he described being forced into a car and driven to an old, dimly lit warehouse. He had feared for his life, assuming that Dottie was working for someone dangerous. However, Howard's terror turned to confusion when a mysterious figure entered the room in which he was left and promised to save him. The last thing he remembered was being knocked unconscious before waking up back in his hotel room.

Peggy listened intently, taking in every detail. She knew that this mysterious figure could hold the key to unraveling the case, and she began to press Howard for more information about the rescue. She asked for a description of the warehouse, and when it matched the same location she had been investigating, Peggy knew that they were dealing with someone who called himself "The Phantom Reaper."

Howard breathed a sigh of relief as he finished telling Peggy his harrowing story. He said, his voice hoarse. "I never thought I'd see the light of day again."

Peggy smiled at him warmly. "You're safe now, Howard," she said. "And we have some good news for you."

Howard's eyes widened with surprise. "What news?" he asked eagerly.

"We caught the man responsible for stealing your inventions," Peggy said triumphantly. "We have all the evidence we need to clear your name and prove that you're innocent."

Howard jumped out of his chair, grinning from ear to ear. "That's amazing news!" he exclaimed. "Thank you so much, Peggy. I owe you one."

Peggy waved off his gratitude. "It's all in a day's work," she said modestly. "Now, let's get you to the SSR so you can clear your name once and for all."

The following day, the SSR was bustling with activity as they prepared for a public press conference to clear Howard's name. The stakes were high, and security was tight with the New York City Police Department lending its support.

As Howard made his way to the press conference, his nerves were at an all-time high. He knew that the outcome of this event would be crucial in determining his future reputation.

Despite his fears, the conference was a success. Howard was officially exonerated of any wrongdoing, and the public sentiment towards him began to shift back to admiration and respect. Peggy breathed a sigh of relief as she watched Howard accept the accolades and shake hands with the city's top officials.

When the event came to a close, Peggy couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. She had helped Howard reclaim his good name and put a dangerous criminal behind bars.

When Peggy Carter walked into the New York Bell Company Office the next morning, she was met with thunderous applause from her colleagues at the Strategic Scientific Reserve. They cheered for her heroic efforts in saving New York City from destruction, and Peggy felt a surge of pride.

But her joy was short-lived.

Senator Walt Cooper barged into the room, interrupting the celebration. "I have an announcement," he said, his voice booming. "I want to personally thank Agent Jack Thompson for his outstanding work in apprehending the perpetrators of the Roxxon bombing."

Peggy's heart sank as Cooper continued to heap praise on Thompson, completely ignoring her contribution to the mission. The President of the United States himself wanted to thank Thompson for his bravery and dedication to his country.

Despite feeling frustrated and disappointed, Peggy didn't let it show, as she knew that she had earned her position based on her skills and abilities, not just because of her relationship with Captain America. It was precisely what Val had advised her to remember, and Peggy felt proud of herself for staying true to her values.

After Howard Stark had destroyed many of his inventions to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands, he felt indebted to Peggy for her assistance.

One day, he surprised Peggy with an offer she couldn't refuse. "I have a place for you," he said, a twinkle in his eye. "It's one of my luxurious homes, and it's sitting empty. You're welcome to take it for as long as you need."

Peggy was initially hesitant to accept such a generous offer, but Howard insisted. "It's the least I can do," he said. "I owe you my life, Peggy. You saved me from a fate worse than death."

Peggy was touched by Howard's kindness and accepted his offer. The house was spacious and elegantly furnished, and Peggy felt a sense of calm and tranquility in the peaceful surroundings. She knew she could use the space to rest and regroup after the recent events and continue her work with renewed vigor amidst the chaos of her job at the Strategic Scientific Reserve.
