[A Sentinel Situation] – Trask’s Downfall – The Confrontation

Trask's gaze landed in front of him and he found several police cars blocking his path forward.

His gaze wandered to the officers who were aiming their guns at him and one of them had a speaker which amplified his voice as he shouted, "Drop your weapon now!! Drop your weapon or we would be forced to shoot!!"

He furrowed his brows at the sight and couldn't help but think, 'What do I do now? What should I do in this situation? I don't know how to deal with this.'

Suddenly, he heard a voice shouting at him, "Stoooppp!!"

The officers as well as Trask turned their heads toward the direction of the sound and saw two people walking toward them in the distance. One was a normal man while the other seemed like a huge, blue, hairy human male. Both of them were wearing black and yellow suits with the X logo on their chests.

These two were none other than Havok and Hank.

Trask smiled slightly when he saw them and exclaimed in his mind, 'Yess! Finally! Let's end this show once and for all!'

Some of the officers pointed their guns at them and one of them shouted, "Halt! This is a restricted area. You are not authorized to be on the White House premises. I need you to immediately comply with my instructions and vacate the premises. Failure to do so may result in legal consequences. Now, turn around and leave the area at once."

An officer quickly spoke in his walkie, "Dispatch, this is Officer Johnson reporting. We have another urgent situation at the White House premises. We've encountered two individuals, one appearing to be a normal human male and the other a large, blue, hairy human male. They are both wearing what seems to be black and yellow costumes. Requesting immediate backup and support to apprehend these individuals. Proceed with caution. Over."

He heard a response, "Officer Johnson, this is Dispatch. We copy your report of two individuals on the White House premises. Backup is en route to your location. Please maintain visual contact and exercise extreme caution. Do not engage unless necessary. We are notifying the Secret Service and coordinating with relevant agencies. Stay alert and prioritize the safety of yourself and others. Over."

However, Hank and Havok ignored the officers and walked forward toward Trask.

Hank shouted at Trask with a hateful expression on his face, "You! You killed mutants! You killed children! You killed the elderly!"

Trask laughed at him and said, "Hahahaha! So what? I killed them. Yes! I... killed them. But, I was paid for it...", he pointed at Nixon and continued, "by him."

"What?!", Hank shouted with a shocked expression on his face.

Trask sneered at Hank and taunted him, "Do you get it now? I asked him to give me the mutants' dead bodies and they gave it to me. I asked for live mutants and they still, gave it to me. They did it because they wanted access to my research for developing a weapon against the mutants."

Nixon realized that Trask was airing everything out in the open and he had a devastated expression on his face as he thought, 'I am done. It's over. I'm not going to become the President one more time. My re-election's ruined. My political career is ruined.'

Nixon glanced at Hank and Havok who were looking at him with horrified expressions on their faces. He closed his eyes shut and thought, 'I better die here. I don't want to live anymore. My life's ruined. Come on! Kill me!'

However, what he heard next caused him to snap open his eyes.

"I don't care about him! You! You are the real killer! If it weren't for you, thousands of innocent people would still be alive today! He isn't the killer! You are!", Hank pointed at Trask and shouted angrily.

"Oh?!", Trask exclaimed and responded, "So, he isn't the killer but I am? So, he didn't give me the orders to kill mutants?"

Hank sneered at Trask and replied, "Do you think I'm a fool? I can see what you're trying to do here. You're pushing the blame onto him so that you can paint yourself as nothing but a person who was simply following orders."

Trask glared at Hank and shouted, "You figured it out quickly. But, you won't be able to live any longer."

He aimed his gun at Hank and shouted, "Die!!"

* BANG *

* BANG *

* BANG *

Hank dodged the bullets with ease and ran toward Trask.

He jumped and was about to land a hit on him when Trask fired at his chest.

* BANG *

* BANG *

* THUD *

Hank abruptly fell on the ground and seeing him not moving, Havok cried out, "Hank!!!"

He had tears in his eyes and his chest began to glow an eerie red as he shouted at Trask, "You murderer!"

However, Trask pointed his gun at him and taunted, "Don't do that, kid. Or you would be joining him soon."

Havok gritted his teeth and reluctantly controlled himself.

Trask smiled as the glow in Havok's chest began to fade and he said, "Smart kid."

Then, he turned toward the officers and calmly said, "Please make a way officers or this country would witness another President being assassinated today."

The officers glanced at each other for a second and reluctantly dropped their weapons on the ground.

Trask dragged Nixon and walked toward the police cars.

He pushed him inside the car and turned around.

He glanced at a young officer and ordered, "Get inside the car!!"

The officer stammered as he replied, "W-What? W-W-Why?"

Trask grinned and replied, "Because you will be our driver."

* VROOM *

The officers watched as the police car sped away and hurriedly picked up their weapons and ran into their cars.

* WEE WOO *

* WEE WOO *

* WEE WOO *

Their sirens blared through as they chased after Trask.

. . .

Havok ran toward Hank and gently nudged him.

A few seconds later, Hank stirred and he slowly moved and lay on his back.

He asked Havok, "W-Where is Trask?"

"He got away.", Havok gritted his teeth in anger and frustration and replied.

Hank was surprised and he shouted, "We must stop him!"

He tried to get up but Havok said, "How will you do that? You're shot!"

Hank gritted his teeth and finally, stood on his feet as he gazed in the distance and replied, "We have to because we're the X-Men."

"Let's go!!", he ordered and both of them ran in the direction in which Trask got away.

. . .

In the bushes, Sarah aggressively tapped on his shoulder and asked, "Did you get that? Did you get that? Hey! Did you get that?"

Victor swatted her hand away and angrily replied, "Of course, I did!"

Sarah gazed in the distance as she repeated, "X-Men... X-Men... X-Men..."

"Aha!", She exclaimed and turned to Victor.

She grabbed his shoulders and whispered excitedly, "I got it! I fucking got it!"

"What did you get?", Victor replied as he tried his best to make her let go of his shoulders.

She replied, "The title of my article!"
