[A Sentinel Situation] – An Introspection – The Intruder

Brad chewed on his sandwich as he walked back to Val.

He moaned in pleasure as he savored the taste of the sandwich.

He arrived at the spot where Val stood and staring at the sandwich, he said, "Damn! This sandwich tastes better than whatever my wife makes! Holy Mother Of God! What did he put in this thing? This thing is delicious! Right, Val?"

But, he heard no response.

"Val?", He looked up and was surprised to see no sign of Val.

"Val?", He looked around but failed to see Val.

He murmured to himself, "He was right here. Where did he go?"

…

* BOOM *

A small shockwave spread through the air as Val increased his speed while flying in the sky.

While flying, his mind wandered to Magneto and his newly-formed Brotherhood Of Mutants and he sighed.

He thought, 'Magneto killed Adrienne's baby. Unknowingly. This... is something I have to forgive on. He did it without knowing that she was carrying a baby. Maybe, if he had known, he would have stopped. But, I also can't blame him if he didn't. She was clearly instigating him. She was clearly accepting all of the harm that Shaw had inflicted upon Erik and she even, encouraged it. But...the past is the past.

Maybe, I shouldn't have stalled. Maybe, I should have acted quickly. Maybe, somewhere, it's my fault. But, I have to let it go. She died along with her baby. She knew what would happen if she began fighting and she was ready for it.

Also, I didn't want to intervene because I didn't want to fight Magneto so early. Many future plans of mine could be ruined. I have to maintain a friendly relationship with him. Unlike Charles, he is aware of the hypocrisy of the world. I wouldn't stop his push for mutant supremacy. This world needs people like Magneto to act on their beliefs without any hesitation.

Speaking of Charles, he said to me that he would never help me ever. Let's see how long he keeps his act up. I would make him accept his mistake. I would make him see his hypocrisy.'

Val looked at his torn uniform and thought, 'Shit! I was on duty! How would I explain this? I got it! I have a few spare uniforms back home.'

He stopped and hovered in the air.

Then, he changed direction and flew to his mansion.

…

In Val's mansion,

Mystique was watching the television in the living room while munching on some popcorn in a bowl.

"Welcome To The Tonight Show! I'm your host - Johnny Carson!"

Mystique instantly became engrossed and concentrated on the TV.

"...Ladies and Gentlemen! let's welcome the one and only - Jennifer Lawrence!"

She watched herself smile and wave as she appeared on the show and sat in the chair.

She clicked her tongue in annoyance and said, "I shouldn't have listened to Amanda. I look so fat in the blue dress. My butt is too big for that dress. I should have worn the red one instead."

She tried to eat the popcorn when she glanced at her bowl, only to find it empty.

She put it aside and murmured, "Fucking Amanda! You deliberately made me wear the blue one, right? You wanted me to look bad, right? I am sure that bitch, Audrey paid you to do it. I will humiliate that Hepburn bitch in front of everybody! Just you wait!"

She stood up from the couch and walked to the fridge, while thinking, 'I need a beer!'

She opened it and glanced inside.

When she found not even a single alcohol bottle inside it, she angrily slammed it shut and shouted, "Why the fuck is there not even a single bottle? How am I supposed to drink? What's the problem with this old fucker?"

Suddenly, she heard someone walking into the living room and immediately changed her appearance to her human self.

She quickly turned around and thought, 'An intruder? Here?'

She saw a silhouette of a person walking into the living room.

She didn't panic.

She remembered the lessons Val taught her and immediately picked up the knife from the table and ran toward the 'intruder'.

She stepped on the couch and using it as a platform, she jumped above the intruder and brought the knife down at him.

However, the 'intruder' quickly caught the knife in her hands and both of them crashed onto the floor.

Both of them wrestled on the floor and she found herself on the floor while the 'intruder' held her hands above her head as he loomed over her.

She tried to free herself from his grip but she realized that he was abnormally strong.

She gritted her teeth and said, "Do you know whose house you walked into, you dumb fuck? I am Jennifer Lawrence! You are trespassing on private property! Leave me at once or I swear to God, I will kill you."

However, what happened next shocked her.

The 'intruder' let go of her and stood up and walked to a wall and flipped the lights on.

She was surprised to see Val and she asked, "V-Val? What are you doing here?"

Val glanced at her and said, "Why are you surprised? Isn't this my house?"

She nervously replied, "Y-Yeah...."

She thought, 'He shouldn't have heard what I said earlier! Please! Please! Please!'

Val glanced at the fridge and said, "So? What were shouting earlier?"

She quickly answered, "N-Nothing! I was just mad at the TV."

Val looked at the nervous expression on her face and smirked at her.

He said, "But, I clearly heard you saying something earlier. Something about...an old fucker?"

She blushed in embarrassment and thought, 'Fuck! He knows!'

She meekly replied, "I-I was just talking abo-"

He interrupted her and said, "I know what you were talking about."

He walked to the fridge and opened it, taking a water bottle out of it.

He said to her, "I don't keep alcohol since I don't drink. And, you should also refrain yourself from drinking it daily. Drink only once in a while."

She nodded and replied, "O-Okay!"

He looked at her, standing in the same position with her head down.

He sighed and said, "I am not going to scold you. Relax."

He saw her sigh in relief and grinned evilly as he declared, "But, I am going to go twice as hard on you tomorrow during our combat class."

He saw her looking at him with a look that screamed - injustice!

He said, "Because you should have gotten out of my grip but you didn't. I have taught you different methods to do so. This means that you yet, have to master it."

He laughed at her reaction and sat on the couch and said, "Come! Tell me what's happening in Hollywood. Are there any suspicious people?"
