Battle of Emperors Ends

When Luffy heard that, he was speechless for a moment. He wasn't afraid of Kaido, nor was he ready to leave the battlefield.

But hearing that laughter pissed him off. After all, he put quite a lot of effort into that attack, and all it did was tickle Kaido.

Tickling wouldn't be the correct word. That attack caused some serious damage to Kaido but with his regeneration, these injuries began healing quite quickly.

Luffy knew he also had a Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit just like Kaido, but even he didn't think his recovery was this quick.

What he didn't know, or rather forgot, was that Kaido was also an Oni. That means Kaido was abnormal from the beginning and became even more inhuman after getting his Devil Fruit.

Normally, Haki attacks would be more than enough to damage a person, whether they were humans or giants, or fishmen.

It was even possible to damage someone like Big Mom, whose skin was impenetrable. So, every Haki attack could cause some level of damage to Kaido.

After all, his defenses weren't as good as Big Mom's. The problem was his recovery. What good would an attack be if it couldn't even leave a scar?

That was the problem with Kaido's defenses. The moment he got injured, his regeneration would kick in and heal his body.

Of course, penetrating his defenses itself was a hard task, but it was possible. Even without Advance Armament.

But with Advanced Armament, Luffy could injure his inner organs, which were much more fragile and took more time to heal.

Muscles that could be trained heal faster, while organs that couldn't be trained heal extremely slowly.

Kaido could train his outer body with every possible exercise and even use some suicide methods to improve his defenses, but he couldn't train his inner organs.

That's why Advanced Armament was so effective against him.

But even so, Kaido's recovery was almost ten times better than other Zoan Devil fruit users so healing his inner organs wasn't a hard job.

Luffy just realized that and was silent in the sky.

"Hey, Captain, are we going to attack or not?" Suddenly, a voice came from the side.

Luffy didn't even realize he was so absorbed by Kaido's defenses that he forgot about his battle for a moment.

"Liam, have you recovered?" Luffy asked.

Unlike him, Liam's Devil Fruit was normal. He was also a normal person. So, he didn't think Liam could recover as quickly as he.

"Yeah, it has been more than half an hour since you two started fighting. It was enough time for me to recover." Liam nodded. He turned his attention towards Kaido and said.

"Anyway, let's try our best."

Both of them were slowly moving down.

"Liam, I can't feel my devil fruit awakening. Do I have to die to awaken it?" Luffy asked. He had been trying to call the awakening of his fruit during this entire battle, but he couldn't even sense it.

Liam paused for a moment and shook his head.

"No, let's keep trying. I don't want you to take such a risk, not while we have a normal chance."

Normally, Luffy wouldn't have agreed to such a thing. But when he remembered Robin's words, he silently agreed.

Liam had only one goal after he joined his crew and it was to protect the crew. At that time, Luffy didn't want him in his crew but only now, Luffy was glad Liam put some effort into joining his crew.

Otherwise, with his interests in mind, he would've never accepted Liam into his crew.

At this moment, he opened his mouth and said.

"Hey, Liam, I won't ask you anything you don't want to say. I will do every bit of training that you want me to do. I will do my best to become a better Captain."

"Just, don't leave, okay?"

Luffy sounded almost like a crying child.

Liam was stunned, but he quickly replaced it with a normal expression and said.

"What are you talking about, Captain? Did Kaido hit you too hard? I am not leaving. We are going to defeat Kaido together."

Luffy realized Liam was hiding the answer, deceiving him with the situation, but he couldn't force him.

At this moment, they were in the middle of a battle.

Kaido instantly rushed towards them. Even though they were together, he didn't care.

His mace was covered in black and purple lightning as he appeared in front of them and slammed his mace down.

Liam quickly moved his sword up with all of his strength. Black lightning emerged from his swords as their weapons clashed in the middle.

Eventually, Kaido managed to break the stalemate and their weapons collided, causing Liam to hold his sword with both of his hands.

Crack!

His feet started sinking into the ground.

[Gomu-Gomu No]

[Jet Hawk]

Luffy suddenly appeared next to Kaido. His hand stretched back with a powerful flame burning on his fist. As he pulled it forward, his fist struck Kaido on the head.

Bang!

Kaido got slammed onto the ground several eaters away from them. Before he stood up, Liam appeared in front of him with his sword.

[Galaxy Divide]

As he pulled his sword down, a powerful Conqueror and Armament Haki burst out. In an instant, a massive sword force struck Kaido's neck.

But Kaido had already seen this future. He instantly grabbed the mace and slammed it up.

Crack! Bang!

His mace struck the sword, but the sword's force had already been released. It smashed Kaido on his back, revealing a sharp sword mark near his neck.

But Kaido didn't care about it. He simply swung his tail towards Liam and slashed his chest.

'Wind?' Liam wasn't able to dodge it, but he managed to block it with Armament Haki.

Because Liam got distracted with it, Kaido tried to strike him with his mace. But Luffy suddenly appeared next to him and kicked him in the face.

[Gomu Gomu No]

[Rhino Schneider]

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Kaido slid several times on the ground before stopping near the edge of the island. Just as he stood up, he saw a powerful slash coming his way.

[Divine Departure]

"Damn it!"

Kaido roared and put his Armament Haki on his chest. He didn't have time to charge his attack with Armament and Conqueror because the slash was almost in front of him.

Normally, for him, numbers didn't matter. He was the strongest creature. He could outlast anyone and any number.

But when two people who were nearly as strong as him fought him together, then it would be a problem for him.

That's exactly what's happening right now.

Liam and Luffy were attacking him with a barrage of different attacks and he couldn't even defend against them.

Bang! Splash!

As his body clashed against the slash, blood sputtered out. That attack not only invoked the damage he suffered from Kozuki Oden but also increased its range, reaching even deeper.

"Cough!"

Kaido coughed out blood and fell to his knees. At this moment, he was angry. He was so angry that he wanted to use his final form.

But just before he could do it, he heard a crack. This was the final crack that he needed.

Because at this moment, Liam's sword had shattered into pieces.

That last attack was so powerful that his sword couldn't handle it despite being empowered by Armament Haki.

"Kaido, let's stop!"

Originally, Kaido wanted to laugh and continue the battle, but Liam instantly gave him a peace sign.

"What? Can't fight after your weapon is broken, boy?" Kaido glared and smirked before asking.

"Kaido, you and I both know how good I am with my fist. My attacks might not be deadly, but they are even stronger without my sword."

Liam rolled his eyes and said. But his tone quickly got serious.

"This fight was good. You enjoyed it. We learned a lot from it. But I know this is not a battle you want. This is not how you want to die."

"Believe it, Marines might not have this idea, but you are just another creature, not a God. Even you can not break the rules of the devil fruit, which means you can't eat more than one devil fruit."

When he said that, Liam took out a devil from his pocket. It was a devil fruit that belonged to Rob Lucci.

Kaido narrowed his eyes and asked with a chilling voice.

"You think I will let you feed me that fruit?"

"No, but if you fight, I will do my best. Remember, this is one out of two. If you die here, your base will be uprooted in just a few days."

"Even if you don't die by eating it, you will still be seriously injured. You might be able to recover, but you have greater enemies."

"They certainly don't want to fight you, but they don't mind fighting your crew and saving their friend's home. So, what do you think?"

Liam continued. But before Kaido could reply, Luffy pointed his finger and said.

"Hey, Kaido, let's stop this battle. I want to fight you, and I will fight you. When I awaken my devil fruit, we will enter your territory and I will defeat you."

Hearing that, Kaido had a crazy smirk before he said.

"Then, I will wait for you, Luffy."

At this moment, his body changed into a Dragon as he flew away.
