CH 32: TIME FUCKERY

As I looked at this iconic pink-haired girl, I couldn't help but wonder if it was game over for me.

What's more, with the way time seemed to be stopped and the black cloak she was wearing, I was pretty sure she was in her god mode.

She was without a doubt the most popular yandere.

She was Yuno Gasai.

[Who are you?]

Even though she was in front of me, her voice seemed to come from far away. It was the second time I was facing a godly being and it still didn't feel particularly good.

"Hum.. *Ahem* Hello I guess. If you ask me who I am, well. My name is Akira Karino. Heir of the Karino family. You can also call me… The warlock of Melancholy."

She tilted her head as she looked at me before smiling,

[You aren–"You aren't scared."

This wasn't a question but a truth. What more, it seemed that she stopped the God-talk.

"Oh no, I am positively scared. Feel like I would piss myself. But no way in hell am I going to humiliate myself in front of a cute girl. Goddess or not."

Her smiling expression froze a little before she finally let out a sigh,

"Things would have been so much easier if he was like you."

You mean that pussy you begin to love simply because of a silly promise?

"Who are you talking about?"

Thankfully, I didn't need to fear having my mind read. Having a super-entity in my head was helpful for situations like that.

"No one you should know. Anyway, I am very curious about you. Akira Karino. You shouldn't exist. I have fought against Shuka Karino as well as Mamako Oosuki before becoming a goddess, but from what I knew, Shuka's brother died when she was young."

My back was suddenly covered in cold sweat. Still, I didn't flinch nor falter.

"Well, learning that I died in one timeline was pretty disturbing, but, I thought that time was infinite and full of millions of possibilities. So why is it impossible for me to be alive?"

A grin split her face, "Indeed. But the situation changes when time itself seems to converge around you. Did you know? I cannot travel to a past farther than the day you supposedly woke up. What more, I cannot see your future, not even one possibility. You are like a singularity. So, who are you?"

Heh! So my existence changed times and space?

Pretty cool.

…

…

…

Less cool when it brought a psychopathic goddess of time to my doorsteps.

"Hum, before continuing could you take a seat please," I gestured to one of the chairs around the table. "Having to look at you on the side is rather painful on my neck."

I still had Anna and Saeko in front and behind me.

Yuno took a long look at me before swiping the room with her gaze as her lips twitched.

"To think I would be able to see the mage and the sword goddesses in such embarrassing situations. I must say, you are really interesting."

Heh, so those two would become goddesses? So I had future goddesses currently massaging me? Holy shit. This went from pretty cool to absolutely badass.

Yuno took a chair before sneering, "Don’t rejoice. This fate of theirs is pretty twisted now. Initially, they should have obtained the blessings of the current gods after entering the Little garden. From then on, relying on their talent and blessing it would take them 986 years to attain Godhood themselves."

Hum...This was like in JSDF. In that setting, the path to Godhood was to first become an Apostle then a demi-god after 1000 years you could become a god. Rory Mercury was 961 years old at the start of the series.

Well, since the event of the gate appearing happened so long ago she should already be a goddess herself.

"I see. So you are saying that now that they can't enter Little Garden their path to Godhood is broken?"

"Not exactly." She shook her head. "Time always tries to correct itself. It isn't that easy for a strong destiny such as that of becoming a god to be erased. Sooner or later they should have another opportunity. Well, they should have. Though your existence is a problem."

"..." I stayed silent.

"Anyway let me present myself. I am Yuno Gasai. The goddess of the time."

"...One of the goddesses of Time you mean?"

Because I was pretty sure that there should be gods of time in every myth.

"No. I am the sole and only. Let's just say that the others weren't happy about me messing with the time-line and we had a short altercation," She flashed me a grin as she said this, "They lost."

"Oh!! *Clap* *Clap* incredible. I would have paid to see this epic fight."

Well. Isn't it great? A new and stronger Yuno, even more, monstrous than she already was.

Well, it isn't my problem.

She didn't seem hostile. Just curious. So shoo shoo. Go away, yandere goddess. Go bother that poor boy and leave me with my maids.

"I see. You are truly a curious boy. Is your lack of fear coming from that monstrosity in your head."

It was funny when a monster calls another being a monster. Though Chiyo stayed silent.

Yeah, I called a monster born out of nightmare, Chiyo. What? It's not my fault if she was called like that in her series.

"Sorry but no." I shook my head. "The Old ones will not help me simply because I have nothing to give them aside from my soul and I really like to not have my soul being taken by the literal stuff of nightmares."

{Hey! I would take care of your soul if you sold it to me.}

{...Seriously? You stay silent during all the discussions with someone who could vaporize me with a snap of their fingers and it's the mention of my soul that makes you react?}

"*Pfft* Hahaha. Sorry. You are really a weird young boy. I guess that you aren't a singularity for nothing. It should be alright to entrust her with you."

Entrust? I didn't like the sound of that.

"In the initial timeline. After you died, my father managed to absorb all the wealth of the Karino family. Karino and Oosuki left this world and went to the kingdom of Lugnica. Before coming back a few years later in vengeance. Meanwhile, I was simply abused by my mother before I finally snapped and killed them. Then I participated in a death game with Godhood as a prize."

"..."

"It was during those times that I met the love of my life. Yuki."

As she said that, her face already began to blush heavily, and her breath became rough.

"Yuki was simply wonderful. We fought together and finally, we became a couple. We even became Gods of Time together after some twists and turns. Sadly," her smile dropped as she held her head low, "He was killed during my fight against those gods."

"..."

"I don't know how long it has been since then. Thousands of years? Ten thousand? Or perhaps a day? I didn't care. I just wanted to die. I wasn't interested in going to the past and reliving everything. It was one thing when our relationship wasn't that developed, but after all the time we passed together as Gods, I would have simply been unable to fall in love with someone else other than him."

"..."

"But suddenly, I felt it, my existence was being erased?"

"Erased?"

I had stayed silent all this time but this surprised me.

"I already told you that time always tries to correct itself. But since it cannot correct you…"

"Then it decided to correct all the other timelines."

"Exactly. Now every timeline where you didn't awaken and simply died became the wrong one and your timeline became the correct one. So, our existence is simply being erased."

This was simply incredible. "So, are you here to kill me?"

"Initially, I was."

I wasn't surprised. Who would accept simply being erased?

"But?"

She smiled at this, "But, I see in you a new possibility. A path toward a new future that I could have never dreamed about. Already the death game that should have happened was canceled. My abuse that should have increased is still tolerable. The me who should have broke is still barely sane. Yuki wasn't chosen as number one by Deus. He is still normal and can have a normal happiness."

Her eyes shone with vigor.

"Did you know? My love for Yuki was without a doubt the most beautiful and most sorrowful thing in my eyes. We loved each other. I do not doubt it. But the circumstances of our love was simply sad." She calmly repeated the same words that made me respect her during the show, "I would have loved anyone if I became dependent on him, and he would have anyone as long as she protected him."

Yes, this was it. I wasn't a fan of Yuno because of her craziness. I really hated her during nearly all of the show.

But, simply this sentence. This sole sentence made my opinion of her completely turn around.

"So the one you want to entrust to me is…"

"Yes. Please," and then, she deeply bowed. "Save the past me. Both from her pain and from herself."

…

…

…

I had many choices. But, only one answer presented itself to me,

"Alright."
